I found that the TimeGmt() function is not accurate if the server time is set up wrong, especially for getting other timezones with daylight savings.
Is there any way to scrape time data from the internet and into the expert advisor? I found the WebRequest function but I don't really understand the parameters.
The clock on my laptop synchronizes with time.windows.com. Is it also possible to do this in mt4? There are also other websites like time.is.

You can use WebRequest function and then parse the output. Quite a lot of silly work though. If your laptop is syncronized, you can ask current local time using TimeLocal() function, and obtain time of your laptop. It does not work in tester (actually, nothing except TimeCurrent() works correctly as specified in the official documentation).
If going to 'time.is' website, you have to find line that looks like '20:42:15' and extract current time (20:42 in my case) from that line. You should use GET request, so use the first WebRequest function.
Keep in mind that WebRequest is async so it takes time to go to the website then parse the data etc and your ea waits for the reply before going further, so it probably makes sence to call that function once per week or so.

Problem I'm trying to solve: My program uses System.Win.ScktComp.TServerSocket to communicate with another local process via Ethernet. Between receiving a packet from the local process and sending a response is 100ms--which shouldn't take this long. I'm trying to step through my program with the debugger to see where that 100ms is being spent.
The problem is that if I get the current time while I'm in the debugger it will obviously count the time it spent in the paused state of the debugger. Another problem is that the relevant part of my app is TTimer and event-driven so that when a routine returns you're not sure what routine will be called next.
My attempt: I can forgo using the debugger and print the current time everywhere like in all the OnTimer procedures and other events.
Much better solution: Step through with the debugger, getting the CPU time (which isn't affected by the time spent paused in the debugger) here and there to pinpoint where that 100ms is being lost.
I don't believe that you are tackling your problem the correct way, and have made that point in comments. Leaving that aside, the function that you are asking for is GetProcessTimes.

A debugger will not be able to tell you that very easily. You need to use a profiler instead, like AQTime or similar, and let it clock your code in real-time and report the results, such as how much time was spent in specific functions and class methods.
I have a query which involves getting a list of user from a table in sorted order based on at what time it was created. I got the following timing diagram from the chrome developer tools.
You can see that TTFB (time to first byte) is too high.
I am not sure whether it is because of the SQL sort. If that is the reason then how can I reduce this time?
Or is it because of the TTFB. I saw blogs which says that TTFB should be less (< 1sec). But for me it shows >1 sec. Is it because of my query or something else?

The TTFB is not the time to first byte of the body of the response (i.e., the useful data, such as: json, xml, etc.), but rather the time to first byte of the response received from the server. This byte is the start of the response headers.
For example, if the server sends the headers before doing the hard work (like heavy SQL), you will get a very low TTFB, but it isn't "true".
In your case, TTFB represents the time you spend processing data on the server.
To reduce the TTFB, you need to do the server-side work faster.
I have met the same problem. My project is running on the local server. I checked my php code.

I use localhost to connect to my local database. That maybe the cause of the problem which you're describing. You can modify your HOSTS file. Add the line
127.0.0.1 localhost.
TTFB is something that happens behind the scenes. Your browser knows nothing about what happens behind the scenes.
You need to look into what queries are being run and how the website connects to the server.
This article might help understand TTFB, but otherwise you need to dig deeper into your application.
If you are using PHP, try using <?php flush(); ?> after </head> and before </body> or whatever section you want to output quickly (like the header or content). It will output the actually code without waiting for php to end. Don't use this function all the time, or the speed increase won't be noticable.

I would suggest you read this article and focus more on how to optimize the overall response to the user request (either a page, a search result etc.)
A good argument for this is the example they give about using gzip to compress the page. Even though ttfb is faster when you do not compress, the overall experience of the user is worst because it takes longer to download content that is not zipped.
I want to deploy managed iOS devices to employees of the company, and the app they will use will timestamp data that will be recorded locally, then forwarded. I need those timestamps to be correct, so I must prevent the user from adjusting the time on the device, recording a value, then resetting the date and time. Date and time will be configured to come from the network automatically, but the device may not have network connectivity at all times (otherwise I would just read network time every time a data value is recorded). I haven't seen an option in Apple Configurator to prevent changing the date and time, so is there some other way to do this?
You won't be able to prevent a user either changing their clock or just hitting your API directly as other commentators have posted. These are two separate issues and can be solved by having a local time that you control on the device and by generating a hashed key of what you send to the server.
Local Time on Device:
To start, make an API call when you start the app which sends back a timestamp from the server; this is your 'actual time'. Now store this on the device and run a timer which uses a phone uptime function (not mach_absolute_time() or CACurrentMediaTime() - these get weird when your phone is in standby mode) and a bit of math to increase that actual time every second. I've written an article on how I did this for one of my apps at (be sure to read the follow up as the original article used CACurrentMediaTime() but that has some bugs). You can periodically make that initial API call (i.e. if the phone goes into the background and comes back again) to make sure that everything is staying accurate but the time should always be correct so long as you don't restart the phone (which should prompt an API call when you next open the app to update the time).
Securing the API:
You now have a guaranteed* accurate time on your device but you still have an issue in that somebody could send the wrong time to your API directly (i.e. not from your device). To counteract this, I would use some form of salt/hash with the data you are sending similar to OAuth. For example, take all of the parameters you are sending, join them together and hash them with a salt only you know and send that generated key as an extra parameter. On your server, you know the hash you are using and the salt so you can rebuild that key and check it with the one that was sent; if they don't match, somebody is trying to play with your timestamp.
*Caveat: A skilled attacked could hi-jack the connection so that any calls to example.com/api/timestamp come from a different machine they have set up which returns the time they want so that the phone is given the wrong time as the starting base. There are ways to prevent this (obfuscation, pairing it with other data, encryption) but that becomes a very open-ended question very quickly so best asked elsewhere. A combination of the above plus a monitor to notice weird times might be the best thing.
There doesn't appear to be any way to accomplish what you're asking for. There doesn't seem to be a way to stop the user from being able to change the time. But beyond that, even if you could prevent them from changing the time, they could let their device battery die, then plug it in and turn it on where they don't have a net connection, and their clock will be wrong until it has a chance to set itself over a network. So even preventing them from changing the time won't guarantee accuracy.
What you could do is require a network connection to record values, so that you can verify the time on a server. If you must allow it to work without a net connection, you could at least always log the current time when the app is brought up and note if the time ever seems to go backwards. You'll know something is up if the timestamp suddenly is earlier than the previous timestamp. You could also do this check perhaps only when they try to record a value. If they record a value that has a timestamp earlier than any previous recorded value, you could reject it, or log the event so that the person can be questioned about it at a later time.
This is also one of those cases where maybe you just have to trust the user not to do this, because there doesn't seem to be a perfect solution to this.
The first thing to note is that the user will always be able to forge messages to your server in order to create incorrect records.
But there are some useful things you can use to at least notice problems. Most of the time the best way to secure this kind of system is to focus on detection, and then publicly discipline anyone who has gone out of their way to circumvent policy. Strong locks are meaningless unless there's a cop who's eventually going to show up and stop you.
Of course you should first assume that any time mistakes are accidental. But just publicly "noticing" that someone's device seems to be "misbehaving" is often enough to make bad behaviors go away.
So what can you do? The first thing is to note the timestamps of things when they show up at the server. Timestamps should always move forward in time. So if you've already seen records from a device for Monday, you should not later receive records for the previous Sunday. The same should be true for your app. You can keep track of when you are terminated in NSUserDefaults (as well as posting this information to the server). You should not generally wake up in the past. If you do, complain to your server.
Watch for UIApplicationSignificantTimeChangeNotification. I believe you'll receive it if the time is manually changed (you'll receive it in several other cases as well, most of them benign). Watch for time moving significantly backwards. Complain to your server.
Pay attention to mach_absolute_time(). This is the time since the device was booted and is not otherwise modifiable by the user without jailbreaking. It's useful for distinguishing between reboots and other events. It's in a weird time unit, but it can be converted to human time as described in QA1398. If the mach time difference is more than an hour greater than the wall clock time, something is weird (DST changes can cause 1 hour). Complain to your sever.
All of these things could be benign. A human will need to investigate and make a decision.
None of these things will ensure that your records are correct if there is a dedicated and skilled attacker involved. As I said, a dedicated and skilled attacker could just send you fake messages. But these things, coupled with monitoring and disciplinary action, make it dangerous for insiders to even experiment with how to beat the system.
You cannot prevent the user from changing time.
Even the time of an Location is adjusted by Apple, and not a real GPS time.
You could look at mach kernel time, which is a relative time.
Compare that to the time when having last network connection.
But this all sounds not reliable.
Here is a simple question.
suppose that I have a very long loop to execute, It would be nice to keep the user informed about the progressing right? I would print for example the number of loops that have been executed so far and how many are remaining.
The problem that I have is those output wouldn't be visualized until the the loop is finished, and thus there will be no point for them to be displayed.
I'm sure that there is some method in dart that can some sort of a handler to the browser to execute tasks and events whenever I want to and keep running the loop.
I'm new to dart, I hope that someone could answer this question.

Nothing as simple as DoEvents(), but all of the pieces are there.
I think too that Isolates are the best approach but wasn't successful using them on the browser a while ago, but there was a bigger refactoring going on lately in Isolates.

The API doc referenced by #kevmoo contains a link to an Isolates article that doesn't exist anymore (maybe must be rewritten due to the mentioned refactoring).
Another approach would be a method that returns after a chunk of work and gets recalled repeated in a loop until it returns for example true for done (false for not yet).
When you call this method using scheduleMicrotask(doChunk) or new Timer(() => doChunk()) other tasks get some air (import 'dart:async';) each time before the method gets actually called.
Im in the need of changing a client's browser location on a certain time X. It has to be solid even if a user reloads page it should redirect to location X

Current solution:
Im currently using redis and faye to send data to a subscribed channel (at the client) at time X
This means that a jquery event (redirect of url ) will be triggered when the redis background scheduler pushes/sends this data at a certain time X ( which is always in future)
The problem is this is not solid, since on a page reload the pushed/send data is never received and rendered useless.
Even if it would be possible to save the last 10 sends/pushes in lets call it a "history" one could read it but say a user drops connection the excecution of this data would be useless since it will be to late and not in time.
*How could I overcome this problem? I prefer to keep the load server side and not use a client polling the server every 1 seconds to check if there is data received. that would not scale at all and would become a big problem if usage of the app grows.*
What ideas on this concept to make it solid or use another method to get a solid implementation of this idea? any comments ideas suggestions welcome thanks in advanche!
