I am using VS 2013 for application development , I am not sure what version of Entity framework its being used in my project. Is there any way to find out current version of EF using package manager console ?
You could run the Get-Package command targeting the EntityFramework package in the Package Manager Console:
Get-Package EntityFramework
After running the command, you'll see any instances within your solution (or selected scope) where Entity Framework is installed as seen below :

every time i clone Abp.ModuleZero to my machine when i run nuget command update-database the error show me and when i build the solution in viusal studio the project doesn't build and show many errors in error list console window
most of them is like :
The type 'Object' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced.
You must add a reference to assembly 'netstandard, Version=2.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51'
i try to install Netstandard.library package from package manager console window but doesn't any sense.
my visual studio IDE version is 2015 Update 3.
ABP v3.0.0 is based on .NET Standard 2.0.
This concerns you regardless if you are on MVC 5.x, .NET Framework 4.x or .NET Core 2.x.
You should use VS2017 15.3.3+.
For VS2015, you may try installing NuGet client 3.6 or higher but that may no longer work.
i think downgrade to earlier version of this framework is good solution for me, where can i download early version of ABP framework like 2.3.4?
I don't see why you would download the framework, but it's on GitHub.
If you meant download a template that uses an earlier version of ABP:
You can only choose the project version for premium startup templates.
You can build your own from module-zero-core-template/releases/tag/v2.5.1.
You need to rename the files and folders yourself.
I am starting a new CORE application that uses a SQLServer database, and was using the following command to reverse engineer the current database for a model.
Scaffold-DbContext "Data Source=XXX;Initial Catalog=XXX;User ID=XXX;Password=XXX;MultipleActiveResultSets=True;App=EntityFramework" Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.SqlServer -Verbose
This leads to the following error that I have not found any resolution for.
Startup project 'src\XXXtest' is an ASP.NET Core or .NET Core project for Visual Studio 2015. This version of the Entity Framework Core Package Manager Console Tools doesn't support these types of projects.
I have installed packages for NetCoreApp.1.1.1 and Newtonsoft.json. I am using the 4.6.1 framework and using VS2015Community.
At first, I built up a ASP.NET5/MVC6 project with .netcore in VS2015 community, everything was OK. With going deeper and deeper. I have to use session or tempdata, but after I add microsoft.netcore.session package, package restore will fail and all my existing package got NU1002 error said: NU1002 the dependency XXXX in project XXXX does not support framework DNX, version=v4.5.1. Like the picture.
Error on all packages
But if I uninstall the session package, eveything is OK. What's wrong with this ? My sdk version in global.json is 1.0.0-rc1-update1 and I have removed DNX5.0 from project.json. Does anyone could help me?
According to your screenshot you are using DNX framework in your project, which should be the old version ASP.NET 5 project framework. After ASP.NET 5 upgrade to .NET Core, the framework is now called .NETCoreApp. And the SDK version now is 1.0.0-preview2-003121. The error message also means the dependency does not support framework DNX. I have installed the Microsoft.AspNetCore.Session package successful in my Visual Studio 2015 with latest .NET Core SDK version.
So I suggest you download the latest .NET Core SDK installer from below link and then create a new .NET Core application and then move your original project files to the new project and then install the session package.

If your project is create by ASP.NET 5 RC1 project template, please refer to following article to migrate it to ASP.NET Core 1.0.

This is the first time I am creating a Web API application in ASP.NET MVC4. I opened a new Web API project and added a new controller named 'Product'. The function given below shows an error namespace not found.
public IHttpActionResult GetProduct(int id)
{
var product = products.FirstOrDefault((p) => p.Id == id);
if (product == null)
{
return NotFound();
}
return Ok(product);
}
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
Since you are using Asp.Net 4.0, IHttpActionResult is not available in Namespace System.Web.Http version 4.0 so you have to update your namespace to version 5.0.0.0. You can Check your namespace version by right click System.Web.Http namespace in references and go to properties. You can update this by Right Clicking on your Solution project->Manage NuGet Packages for Solution->
Search for Asp.Net WebAPI 2 ->Select Asp.Net WebAPI 2 and click Manage. Also you can check if it is available on update tab, if it is available in update tab you can update from there. Once you did that, confirm version by going to properties of System.Web.Http namespace in references.
This works for me and hope will work for you too.
Thanks
I had a similar problem when I checked out a project from my source control.
I had the reference to Microsoft ASP.NET Web API 2 in the project but i still couldn't compile the project.
The solution was to re install the package using the Package Manager Console:
PM> update-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi –reinstall
To resolve the IHttpActionResult reference error add a reference using NuGet to install the Web API2 Core lib. dll
In solution explorer in the references right click and select manage nuget packages. (if not there install nuget)
In the manage NuGet Packages window on the left side click online then in top right search for API 2.1 and install Microsoft ASP.NET Web API 2.1 Core Libraries. (Once installed the install button will change to a green check)
After that the project will reload and when it's build again the IHttpActionResult reference error will be resolved and the project will build successful. Your question was good and helped me.
Hope this answer helps!
Check with this link to get the namespace for IHttpActionResult and all.
This package contains everything you need to host ASP.NET Web API on IIS. ASP.NET Web API is a framework that makes it easy to build HTTP services that reach a broad range of clients, including browsers and mobile devices. ASP.NET Web API is an ideal platform for building RESTful applications on the .NET Framework.
To install Microsoft ASP.NET Web API 2, run the following command in the Package Manager Console Or Manage NuGet Packages
PM> Install-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi -Version 5.0.0
I had similar problem & re installation will solve this issue.
Just go to
Tools > NuGet Package Manager > Package Manager Console
in Visual Studio 2013 and write down the following :-
PM> update-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi –reinstall
Then, Clean the solution and Build/Rebuild the solution.
Note: In my case, the process explicitly checked out Web.config and packages.config file and also removed the System.Web.Http dll file.
This solution worked for me:
Tools – > Library Package Manager -> Package Manager Console, then type:
Install-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi -Version 5.0.0
update-Package Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi –reinstall

The features you are trying to use are part of Web API 2. Since you mentioned you're using MVC 4, I expect you will want to upgrade your references to MVC 5 and Web API 2.
Find out more about these features at http://www.strathweb.com/2013/06/ihttpactionresult-new-way-of-creating-responses-in-asp-net-web-api-2/
FYI I was getting the same issue when using .NET Core 3.1.
The solution was to use IActionResult instead of IHttpActionResult.
Using NuGet to install the Web API2 Core lib. dll. You may have to update Nuget before install ing Web API2 because some components in API2 not compatible with old Nuget package. I had done this way and problem was resolved.
In my case after updating System.Web.Http to version 5.0.0.0, I needed to restart the IDE in order to fix this problem.
This issue seems to happen in 2 recent projects I have started using visual studio 2015. Project is an ASP.Net MVC 5 website with mvc and web api components. After running the updates and cleaning up unwanted nuget packages I copied some boilerplate code from another similar project and had the same issue with IHttpActionResult and RouteAttribute not found.
The problem was due to the incorrect Version of the System.Web.Http.dll referenced in the project references. By default the system GAC version of the assembly is used.
To fix this, simply remove this reference and add a reference to the same assembly in the Nuget package folder: [project folder]\packages\Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi.Core.5.2.3\lib\net45\System.Web.Http.dll
You should check that your have updated to the required version of Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi.Core nuget package first.
I am using EF 4.0, at the time I am writing these lines I heard that EF 4.1 update 1 has been released and EF 4.2 is in beta. From wikipedia
A refresh of version 4.1 named Entity Framework 4.1 Update 1, was
released on July 25, 2011. It includes bug fixes and new supported
types.
But I only found a link of Version 4.1.10311.0 from Microsoft which date published is 3/21/2011. So I wonder if version 4.1.10311.0 is the latest release so far. If it's not, where can I download the latest release ?
ps : For some reasons I can't use live update, I need to download package to install manually.
From Arthur Vickers:
What if I can’t use NuGet? What if you can’t connect to the Internet
from your development machine. Or what if you are not allowed to
install NuGet on your machine. Don’t worry; all is not lost.
First you need to get the NuGet package. For this you do need to be
able to connect to the Internet from some machine—but it doesn’t have
to be your development machine. You’re reading this so presumably
you’re not completely off-the-grid. :-)
You can get the package by using NuGet in Visual Studio on a machine
connected to the Internet in the normal way—just install the package
you want into a dummy project. After installing the package you can
find the .nupkg file either in the dummy project folder or by browsing
the Package Cache from the Package Manager Settings menu option.
You can also get the package without Visual Studio by using NuGet.exe.
If you are able to install NuGet on your development machine then do
so and setup a local feed. This may sound daunting but it’s really
easy. Copy the .nupkg file to your local feed and then use NuGet to
install it in the normal way—with no connection to the Internet
required.
If you can’t install NuGet on your development machine then take the
.nupkg file and rename it to .zip—yep, it’s a zip file. You can now
extract EntityFramework.dll from the zip file and use it as you would
any other assembly. Note that you will not get any of the automatic
project-level integration I mentioned above, so you may have to do
more manual configuration of your project.
If you are using EFv4.0 you mostly don't need EFv4.1 or EFv4.2. Those versions bring new type of mapping (code first / fluent) and new DbContext API which can be used instead of ObjectContext API. So unless you want to start a new project with those "new" features or completely migrate your existing project you don't need it. Real new functionality for you will be included in .NET 4.5. DbContext API and code first is shipped only as NuGet package since EFv4.2.
use the package-manager in VS2010 to install
Tools + Library Package Manager + Nuget package manager
EF 4.2 has just been released: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/adonet/archive/2011/11/01/ef-4-2-released.aspx
This is a minor update over 4.1.
The runtime components are available via NuGet. The designer etc. updates for VS are a separate install.
