I have a problem with changing the properties of the SCD transformation in SSIS 2005.
I can define all the properies and mappings the first time i edit the transformation and its working.
But when i open the property editor of the component again, it has forgotten all the entered configuration like the mappings of the table columns and the settings of the columns.
I even have searched in the generated XML for the settings but have not found anything meaningful.
SSIS has definitly stored the components configuration somewhere because its working fine until i open the editor.
I have searched the web but with no luck yet.
Does anybody know where the settings are stored respectively how to force the components editor/assistant to not forget all my settings?
The SCD WIZARD in SSIS is not an editor, it is a wizard. That is one of its biggest drawbacks. It doesn't remember any configuration. Every time you use the wizard, it starts again from the beginning and recreates all of the object it uses to do the slowly changing dimension. If you want an SCD component that will remember the setting between uses, you should probably use the excellent tool by Todd McDermid: DimensionMerge SCD Component
I have had this problem too for almost 2 weeks crawling through the net to find the solution.I finally found a way out. With the xml definition of the SCD component, specifically :
<dwd:DtsComponentDesignTimeProperty> <dwd:key
xsi:type="xsd:string">50 SCDMetadata</dwd:key>
<dwd:value xsi:type="xsd:string"><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<SCDWizardMetadata xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<ConnectionID>{8F2DCF5E-0FC4-4CF4-AF30-87548F5C74A3}</ConnectionID>
It is IMPORTANT that the the content of the tag dwd:value is on same line as the tag itself. If there is a line break, the SCD wizard will not load your settings. I know, its wired. Also the values with the dqd:key should be seperated by a tab. The most important is that the content of the dwd:value start on same line. Hope this helps someone out.

change a config.properties file in a jar / war file in runtime and hotdeploy the changes ?
my requirement is something as follows, we have a "config.properties" in a jar/war file , i have to open the file through a webpage and after the user has made necessary changes to it, i have to update the "config.properties" in jar/war file and hot deploy it. can we achieve this feat ? if so can you please point me to relevant sites/documents so that i can jumpstart on this.
I will strongly recommend your architecht rethink this solution. What you describe should be done through JNDI or a similar technique, not through reloading properties.
Deployments should be considered static - that any given web container allows for magic trickery should not be depended on, and WILL break some day (most likely at the most inconvenient time).
You've got a couple of problems off the top of my head:
ensuring that nothing is holding static references to a java.util.Properties that has previously loaded your config.properties file.
most servlet engines will unpack your war to a working directory so the properties file you load won't be the one in the war, it will be the unpacked one. This means your changes
will be overwritten when you restart the servlet engine because this is typically one of the points the war is unpacked.
While these problems aren't insurmountable I've always found it much easier to implement this sort of behavior by storing the properties in JNDI (as Thorbjørn suggests) or a database (while being careful about the static references I mentioned in point 1).
The JNDI/database solution has the nice side effect of easing deployment into multiple environments because each typically has it's own registry/database.
Even that I agree with the comments explained before, I could suggest one solution:
Apache Commons Configuration extension gives you the posibility to do something like:
config.setReloadingStrategy(new FileChangedReloadingStrategy());
That could make the trick to change the configuration file on a runtime basis with no code at all.
However, like JNDI and other methods of web application configuration, the security is a concern. Be careful on which parameters you can/must be able to configure.
About Translate JMeter projects,
I follow the translating steps and open I18NEdit,
I see the translation text options but I notice that I can't localize Menu items as File, Exit,..
It seems that there are texts (messages.properties) that can't be localized.
Is messages.properties localization is done manually by adding messages_[locale].properties?
Am I missing something ? Is it on purpose or should an enhancement be opened?
We don't really use i18nedit for translation. But you can still use it.
Anyway, Internationalization in JMeter is based on properties files:
src/core/org/apache/jmeter/resources/messages_[locale].properties
src/components/..../*.properties (except some like colors.properties)
src/protocol/..../*.properties
No need to translate deprecated components.
The 2 latter are related to components that rely on TestBean approach (no specific GUI)
Note that a PR (github mirror) is preferred over a patch:

I was hopping to have an easy way to customize the display behavior of the Grails fields plugin after reading its docs, but I just realized that it demands an enormous effort as there is no available templates to start from.
I can see the display functionality is hard-coded in FormFieldsTagLib (from methods like renderDefaultInput() ) but I think it is imperative to have the templates themselves (or a way to generate them, somewhat like generating static scaffolding in Grails).
I can see no consistent (and reasonable) way to customize display behaviors for the Grails fields plugin without that. Am I missing something?
Imagine the use case where someone wants to change the boolean default rendering just to display the field label after (and not before) the checkbox, and keep it available to all the boolean fields within its application. Which concerns will he need to handle regarding if the field is required, has errors, prefix and so on? When all he needed was just moving two divs around.
Grails version: 2.5.4, fields-plugin version: 1.5.1
You aren't missing something. You'd have to re-create the existing implementation of each field type rendering in a template for use with the plugin. There isn't a way to generate a file to start with (like scaffolding).
I won't bore you with the historical reason as to why this is the case, but if you do create a set of base templates it would be a good idea to contribute back to the plugin.
I had an issue with the <f:table> tag, and found this post, which led me to find the base or default template inside the plugin repo.
Take a look at
https://github.com/grails3-plugins/fields/tree/master/grails-app/views
That may help you finding some default templates, along with the official doc and this answer on where to put the override.
Hope it helps you.
We have four different environments - dev VMs, dev, QA and prod. All environments have the following setting for the "website" site:
<site name="website" virtualFolder="/" physicalFolder="/"
rootPath="/sitecore/content" startItem="/home" database="master"
domain="extranet" allowDebug="true" cacheHtml="false"
htmlCacheSize="10MB" registryCacheSize="0" viewStateCacheSize="0"
xslCacheSize="5MB" filteredItemsCacheSize="2MB" enablePreview="true"
enableWebEdit="true" enableDebugger="true"
disableClientData="false" loginPage="/" hostName="www.site.com"
enableFallback="true" enforceVersionPresence="true"/>.
So on VM and prod, www.site.com/en/home/press and www.site.com/en/press work.
But on dev and QA, www.site.com/en/home/press works but www.site.com/en/press doesn't work. (Works with startItem but gets a 404 without it).
This is happening with ISAPI enabled and disabled both (no exceptions).
I am not sure what is going on here or where else to look except to make sure that my start item is in good shape which it seems to be.
What can I do to resolve this? If you need more information please let me know.
Thanks
Try looking at the:
"linkManager" tag in the web.config, there is a property called:
languageEmbedding: asNeeded | always | never
which could be set differently on those solutiuons.
If you have Multi-Language website it is recommended to go with
languageEmbedding: always
Advantages :
Some time in IE8 the Language cookie is destroyed, because of that
the language displayed is change randomly.(We have faced this issue
in our environment) LanguageEmbadding : Always will keep the Information and will work without any Issue.
If you have set asNeeded then First time the Language will be displayed and next time onward it will be hidden. But this will create issue with Google Analytics. In GA you will have 2 diff URL with same page content so your analysis will be unnecessarily divided in to 2 pages.
And Yes you can check if there is any difference is Config files. As Mentioned by Martijn you can use the www.site.com/sitecore/admin/showconfig.aspx Copy the Config, compare it using any file compare tool like WinMerge etc.
What is the Hierarchy in your project?
Sitecore-Content-home-Press or
Sitecore-Content-home-Home-Press?
In my project the setting you have mentioned has database = web.
I can't add a comment, but as Martijn says you need to compare the configs. Now this should be very easy since you should be using config include files and so the changes between the environments should be very minimal. If you are not using them then you should start using them, it makes life much easier to figure out the differences from default Sitecore installation and will also make your upgrades much easier in the future. Or maybe you are using them for the other environments and that is what is causing the issue?
All About web.config Include Files with the Sitecore ASP.NET CMS
As for comparing the configs, use a file comparison tool like WinMerge as already metioned, that should weed out the differences much more easily.
Also, as Maulik says, default config has: database="web" content="master"
This seems like config differences. Compare the live configs by using www.site.com/sitecore/admin/showconfig.aspx. This way you can see the actual config which also includes all your /app_config/include/ files
Firstly, I've done a build, I've done a clean, I've done a rebuild, of both the project and the solution, so that's not the problem.
When I change my model for some reason the intellisense (in fact, it's not just the intellisense as if I do a build it comes up with an error as well) doesn't work. I have a model under ViewData.Model.ContractCostCentre which exists. VS isn't picking this up, at all. Instead, it's referring to an old one which has since been deleted and replaced with the prior one, this is called ViewData.Model.ContractCCList. So in my view I'm having to iterate over a ViewData.Model.ContractCCList despite this not even existing in my *.dbml file.
This isn't the first time I've had this problem, it seems to happen quite often if I change my dbml file (and it's likely to change as we work on highly progressive systems which are always subject to change).
Any ideas?
can you look into your ????.designer.vb or .cs, depend which language you are using
if you don't see that file, show all file in solution
intellisense is using that file
Kezzer,
At the top of your View, there is part of a line of code that determines what model type the page uses. It should look something like this (my example is in c#):
Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<ViewData.Model.ContractCCList>"
Change it to look like this:
Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<ViewData.Model.ContractCostCentre>"
