How to add download conversion on Firebase? - ios

I am getting this notification on Google App Install campaign and I have no idea how to fix it.
This app doesn't have any associated download conversion actions, which could impact campaign performance. Add a download conversion action before continuing
I did my research on Firebase download conversions and found that there is an automatically added conversion called first_open which is automatically triggered when the user first opens the app, so not when the user downloads the app per se.
There are no other automatically added conversions that track raw app downloads which is impossible as the documentation redirects us to either Play Store stats or iTunes Connect stats, as shown here.
And I am confused because I cannot add a conversion for app downloads myself in the code as it would be the same as first_open.
Am I missing something?

In iOS Tracking, does Firebase receive data about a first_open event if an iPhone users chose "Do Not Track"?

Non-technical here, just learning Google Analytics and recently dwelling with app analytics for a client, where their developers didn't seem very skilled in Firebase and can't help me understand this issue - can you help?
I'm trying to understand how many raw downloads in Play Console and App Store Connect are actually users that launch the app, by looking at the first_open event. However, I'm aware that iOS users get a pop-up asking if they allow tracking (or maybe another pop-up similar?).
---> Question: If they do not allow tracking on this pop-up, would our Firebase still get data about these users launching the app? What about other events that were set-up with Firebase, such as initiating a booking?
PS: Also, now that you're here: App Store Connect is displaying 23 Total downloads (counting re-installs) for a given month in Country A, but Firebase is displaying 49 first_open events for the same country in the exact same month! How's this even possible, if a first_open only fires at least once per install, or doesn't even fire if the user never opens?

App Tracking Transparency on Flutter was rejected by Apple

I need help us
I have an problem with publish my flutter app on Apple Developer. My binary was rejected any times and i does't any more ideas about this.
The support team of apple developer says this problem:
Guideline 5.1.2 - Legal - Privacy - Data Use and Sharing
We noticed your app accesses web content you own where you collect cookies. Cookies may be used to track users, but you do not use App Tracking Transparency to request the user's permission before collecting data used to track.
Starting with iOS 14.5, apps on the App Store need to receive the user’s permission through the AppTrackingTransparency framework before collecting data used to track them.
But, i implemented according of docs. For showing permission request dialog i have used this library:
https://pub.dev/packages/app_tracking_transparency
I'm confused because it already implemented everything that was requested.
App Tracking Transparency implemented
Permission is displayed to the user, who selects YES or NO.
App Tracking Information is updated here in the App Store Connect section, including Third Party Cookies.
My app accesses external links in a WebView and for that reason they are questioning the use of "App Tracking". But I implemented everything as requested by them.
My biggest question is if I'm forgetting something that may have gone unnoticed.
Anyone who can help me, please?
The same thing exactly happened with me twice and in both time the issue was resolved by simply sending them a video recording of the app showing the Yes/No App Tracking Transparency dialog. They just want to know when it appears to user if you implemented everything correctly. So try sending them a video recording in the resolution center as a response to that message.
App Store Review team is always questioning the "App Tracking Transparency dialog". Even if this dialog is the first thing that appears after the app launch. (I think they just haven't launched the app).
There's no need to make a video, just add the text "The App Tracking Transparency dialog is appearing after app launch" and they will approve the app.

Does Firebase still count version updates as first_open event?

I was wondering if first_open event still includes app updates. I have read that it has been counting previously but should be changed soon. However, I could not be sure that if it is changed and not counting app updates anymore.
From documentation, first_open:
the first time a user launches an app after installing or
re-installing it.
This event is not triggered when a user downloads the app onto a
device, but instead when he or she first uses it. To see raw download
numbers, look in Google Play Developer Console or in iTunesConnect.
The last important distinction is that when existing users migrate to the new version of your app which includes Firebase, they will log a first_open event. And so, even though they are not new users, they log a first_open.
In other words, it gets triggered on an update, only if the previous version did not previously have Firebase.

Deep link after iOS app installed (Deferred deep linking)

How can you solve this scenario:
User is using Safari on iOS. They click a link on a website that says
"View Profile on our app". The user does not have the app, they are
taken to the app store to download the app. After they open the app,
the app immediately loads the profile screen (instead of the main
screen).
Currently in order for us to solve this problem, when the app is installed we immediately open Safari to grab the session cookie, if it matches the one on the server we load the right screen. However, Apple is now rejecting our app (and others) for loading Safari at startup.
What is a valid solution that won't get rejected by Apple?
(Also note that we were exploring IDFA - which would have worked - but Apple is rejecting apps that use IDFA if the app isn't using Ads)
This is definitely possible without the IDFA.
Basically, create a URL endpoint on your server that will 302 to the App Store on GET. When a user clicks this link, collect IP Address, OS, OS version, device model, screen size and other parameters and store it as a browser fingerprint.
Then, after the user installs your app, send the same array of meta data to your server as a device fingerprint. Your server can then match this device fingerprint to the browser fingerprint. If there's a match, you can be very certain that the user originated from your link.
Just to give you an idea of numbers, we (at Branch) give this service away for free and now process hundreds of millions of these match queries per day. We've seen that if a user will install, 99% of them will do it within the first 60 minutes. Just empirically, we estimate that this mechanism, with a short window of 2 hours is very close to 100% accurate.
For an added benefit, if you collect IDFA, you can drop a cookie on the browser on redirect and then store the matched pair to the IDFA to create a semi-permanent alternative to the fingerprinting mechanism I mentioned above. If someone clicks your link again, and you've got a cookie stored in the browser, you'll know who they are when they send their IDFA back to your service on install because you've seen that story play out before.
The best solution requires IDFA, which you are in fact allowed to collect for the purpose of deferred deep linking. The "Apple IDFA Scare" was a bit overblown in the media, and Apple revised its T&Cs to make it more clear. Apple also allows you to collect IDFA if you are an advertiser, for attributing installs, or for attributing post-install actions. In other words, you don't have serve ads in your own app in order to collect IDFAs.

iOS Conversion / installation Tracking

Objective: i want to fetch my custom parameter(referrer) from iTunes link upon installation of my application in device.
iTunes links look somethings like this:
https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/complete-gym-guide-lite/id550449574?mt=8
If i append my parameter say(&referrer=xyz)at the end and i open this url in ios safari browser then it will prompt to download the application.
Confusion: will app store send my parameter(referrer) to my application on launch so that i can fetch it in my application and use it.
In case of Android play store link look like this: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=&referrer=guid%3D%guid%
As you can see referrer parameter at the end of url. Once app is installed in device then play store will send this parameter to app using INSTALL_REFERRER broadcast receiver. We can use this parameter.
What i tried OR Other people doing for conversion tracking: Other people are simply sending static data to their server at the first time opening of app and maintain a flag in NSDefault to make sure that app does not send same data again. I can also do the same as well as alternate ways suggested in below links but i want to do something with custom parameter.
I have already seen below links:

Please help me out.
As #Aditya said, for now, Apple is not sending any referrer (or params) from iTunes to installation.
The only way you have it's to use a third party sdk to get your installations.
I have been working on a own sdk to get this but the way to get any info it's really hard and not really confident to use it. So endly we used some third party which are using many techniques to getting this (as fingerprint data, App2App methods, etc...)
I have tested appsflyer sdk and facebook sdk, they work as expected, use this or any else you prefer.
Hope this helps
