Sum of Nulls to result a Null in Pivots in Google Sheets - google-sheets

I am doing a simple pivot that sums a column and I need the sum(nulls) to be a null (in Google Sheets). However, I see the pivot table has zero as the value.
In the attached picture case, I expect the group 1s sum to be null, however, pivot returns 0.
Are there any workarounds? Highly appreciate any help here.

Unfortunately, the default return value / expected behavior when using the SUM() function in adding blank cells will always be 0. Based from the post Comparing blank cell with a cell containing '0' is equating to TRUE all of a sudden, 0 and null are both NOT TRUE, thus, they are the same.
Workaround Solution: Add a Calculated Field to the Values Section
You may use the following formula for the Calculated Field formula:
=if(sum(B),sum(B),"NULL")
However, this is only a workaround and will display a string NULL and not the actual null value whenever the sum is zero. The downside to this is that it will not display the value 0 even if the cells have actual values and it just happens to have a sum of 0.

How to print different values to column based on value in another column and other conditions met?

I have a spreadsheet with several columns and I want to return a different value based on the value in Column A and if any of the other columns show a true or 1.
For example
If column A has the value "A" and any column B-N is either TRUE or 1 then I want to return "Good" to column O
If column A has the value "B" and any column B-N is either TRUE or 1 then I want to return "Best" to column O

Try this in cell O2 (where your sample sheets only has values of TRUE, FALSE, Y or N in B2:N):

Alternative where values in B:N are either 0 or 1:
=arrayformula((trim(transpose(query(transpose(iferror(substitute(substitute(B2:N,0,),1,ifs(A2:A="A","Good",A2:A="B","Best")),)),,columns(B2:N))))))
B2:N is the range of cells to process.
The inner SUBSTITUTE clears all 0 values.
The outer SUBSTITUTE swaps 1 values for a test to see if values in A contain "A" or "B".
IFS does the test and returns either "Good" or "Best".
IFERROR hides any #N/A values down the sheet where the rows are empty.
TRANSPOSE transposes the data for QUERY.
QUERY is used to collapse empty cells (vertically). columns(B2:N) is used in the header part of QUERY. This is a quirk of QUERY, where the header number >= the columns of data, QUERY does the collapse.
TRANSPOSE reverts the dataset to the previous orientation.
TRIM removes leading or trailing space.
ARRAYFORMULA allows the formula to automatically cascade down the sheet, rather than you needing to drag the formula down (like with =IF(AND({B2:N2}>0, A2="A"),"Good", "")).
So, you already have this partial solution. To get a second condition to be met before printing something to your cell, just add an AND() with a new COUNTIF(), comparing A column with A, and then at the else argument, repeat your original IF(), just changing A for B and the output for each case. I will look like this:
=IF(AND(countif(A2;"A");OR(countif(A2:N2;"Y");countif(A2:N2;TRUE)));"Good";
IF(AND(countif(A2;"B");OR(countif(A2:N2;"Y");countif(A2:N2;TRUE)));"Best";"BAD"))
To use it on every row, just autofill the column O. The row numbers will change accordingly and work on its own.
If you need a new if() statement for a third or fourth case, just repeat it, nesting one IF() inside the other, leaving room for a default error message at the end.

if value between 10 & 20 then display 20% of value in another cell

i want to find the percentage of the values in range. for eg : if value between 10 & 20 then display the 20% of value, if value between 20.01 & 50 then display the 10% of value.

I have added three sheets to your sample spreadsheet.
The sheet called "Erik Help - Option 1" is self-contained. See the stand-alone array formula in cell B1:

This formula creates a virtual array by using curly brackets { }. First, the header is placed. Then a simple IF statement checks for whether there is anything in each cell of Column A. If there is not, then Column B will be null; if there is, then Column B will check the value of each cell in Column A against the elements of the IFS function.
The second sheet, entitled "Erik Help - Option 2," relies on the third sheet, entitled "Values." This would allow you more ease in changing assigned values.
The array formula in cell B1 of "Erik Help - Option 2" is as follows:

This works the same as the previous formula except that instead of referencing IFS for values, this formula references the sheet "Values" with a LOOKUP.
After checking for null values, another IF statement checks to see if the lookup value from Values!C2:C >=1 (i.e., whether it is a dollar amount or a percentage):
If this is TRUE (i.e., if the corresponding Values!C2:C value a dollar amount), the VLOOKUP runs again, comparing values from 'Erik Help - Option 2!'A2:A with the values in Values!A2:A and returning the value in Values!C2:C.
If this is FALSE (i.e., if the corresponding Values!C2:C value is a percentage amount), the values from 'Erik Help - Option 2'!A2:A are multiplied by the corresponding values in Values!C2:C.
As you can see, the results from "Erik Help - Option 1" and "Erik Help - Option 2" are identical. So it comes down to preference. If you want a self-contained option and feel comfortable editing the formula itself in the future if values change, use Option 1. If you prefer the ease of changing the values in chart form, use Option 2 with the Values chart.
NOTE: In my sheets, I also applied currency formatting (Format > Number > Currency) to all cells that contain or might contain dollar values.

VLOOKUP formula cannot read dataset generated by another formula

I am using Google Sheets and the VLOOKUP formula within it. Why does the following formula return a 0?
Columns C2:Q150 are generated from a formula and number's pulled from other sheets. Columns U4:U18 are generated by using the LARGE function (to find max in a sorted manner)
According to the documentation you posted, Google Sheet's VLOOKUP function works in the same way as Excel's.
So you are looking in the range $C$2:$C$150 (the first column of your table, which you specified as $C$2:$Q$150) to find the last value in that column that is less than or equal to your 36, i.e. the value in cell U4, and then returning the value in the first column of your $C$2:$Q$150 range on the found cell's row.
If the last cell in column C contains a zero, the answer will be 0.
Re the fourth parameter (which you are setting to TRUE), the documentation says in its Notes:
If is_sorted is set to TRUE or omitted, and the first column of the range is not in sorted order, an incorrect value might be returned. If VLOOKUP doesn’t appear to be giving correct results, check that the last argument is set to FALSE. If the data is sorted and you need to optimize for performance, set it to TRUE. In most cases it should be set to FALSE.
For excel try this in V4,
=INDEX(A:A, AGGREGATE(15, 6, ROW($2:$20)/(C$2:Q$20=U4), COUNTIF(U$4:U4, U4)))
Fill down as appropriate.
In google-sheets this translates to,
=index(A:A, small(if(C$2:Q$20=U4, row($2:$20)), countif(U$4:U4, U4)))

Google spreadsheet Multiple result with VLOOK UP

The VLOOKUP formulas which works individually are
=if(VLOOKUP(E2,DB!$C:$E,1,0)>0,"COMPLETED",)
=if(VLOOKUP(E2,DB!$F:$H,1,0)>0,"IN PROGRESS",)
The issue is while displaying both results in a single cell, the formula which I came up for this was
C2=if(AND(VLOOKUP(E4,DB!$C:$E,1,0)>0),"COMPLETED",if(VLOOKUP(E4,DB!$F:$H,1,0)>0,"IN PROGRESS","UNDEFINED"))
I have tested the formula with normal conditions other than VLOOKUP and it works without any issues, not sure what's wrong with it.
Example : C10=if(AND(E10=1),"ONE",if(E10=2,"TWO","NO DATA"))
Any help appreciated.
May be its something simple but I am pulling my hair out for the last 3 hours.

Sorry for the comments that I have posted as I am new at using Stack overflow.
I have tried with only IF statements without any AND conditions, but the result is still same. The VLOOKUP is not returning the second value.

What I am expecting in cell C2 (sheet1) is check the values in cell
E2 against the columns C:H ( Sheet 2/ DB). If it belongs to
Column C:C in (sheet2/DB) then the value in C2 (sheet1) should display
as "Completed" else if the value is in column F:F ( sheet2/DB) then in C2
(sheet1) should display "In Progress".

There are a few problems with your formula.
VLOOKUP and similar functions search within a single row or column, and it seems like you're looking for your value in multiple rows and columns.
As #Meta mentioned, VLOOKUP returns N/A when the value is not found in the range, and you are expecting a zero or less value to be returned (when you check for >0 in the IF statement). Note that VLOOKUP returns the cell value itself and not an index of a match (like the MATCH function).
My suggestion is to replace your VLOOKUPs with COUNTIF.
=IF(COUNTIF(DB!$F:$H,E2)>0,"COMPLETED",IF(COUNTIF(DB!$C:$D,E2)>0,"IN PROGRESS","UNDEFINED"))
COUNTIF counts in multiple rows and columns, and will return a zero if no matches are found.

How do I avoid the "#DIV/0!" error in Google docs spreadsheet?

I have a column with average(K23:M23) that starts out with #DIV/0! when the K23 through M23 cells are empty. Preferably I'd like to only do the average of cells that contain non-zero, non-blank values. I think it's possible using the query command:

Wrap your formula with IFERROR.
=IFERROR(yourformula)
You can use an IF statement to check the referenced cell(s) and return one result for zero or blank, and otherwise return your formula result.
A simple example:
=IF(B1=0;"";A1/B1)
This would return an empty string if the divisor B1 is blank or zero; otherwise it returns the result of dividing A1 by B1.
In your case of running an average, you could check to see whether or not your data set has a value:
=IF(SUM(K23:M23)=0;"";AVERAGE(K23:M23))
If there is nothing entered, or only zeros, it returns an empty string; if one or more values are present, you get the average.
Wrapping the existing formula in IFERROR will not achieve:
the average of cells that contain non-zero, non-blank values.
I suggest trying:
=if(ArrayFormula(isnumber(K23:M23)),AVERAGEIF(K23:M23,"<>0"),"")
Since you are explicitly also asking to handle columns that haven't yet been filled out, and I assume also don't want to mess with them if they have a word instead of a number, you might consider this:
=If(IsNumber(K23), If(K23 > 0, ........., 0), 0)
This just says... If K23 is a number; And if that number is greater than zero; Then do something ......... Otherwise, return zero.
In ........., you might put your division equation there, such as A1/K23, and you can rest assured that K23 is a number which is greater than zero.
Check if the column has text format. Apply number formatting to the cells you're using in the average function.
