Copying data from every nth column to a new column - google-sheets

i have a sheet with data in i4,i11,i18,i25 etc; besides this data in every 7th cell of column i starting at i4 all the other cells in i column are blank(there is data in other columns i.e."a-h") I would like to copy the data from these cells in column i starting at i4 then every 7th cell in a new column n that has the data starting in n2. I have tried an example I found here with a list of names with to solutions and can't get either to work.

=offset(I$4,7*(row()-1)-2,)

The following should also work for your case
=QUERY(I2:I,"select * where I is not null")

it should be:
=FILTER(I4:I, MOD(ROW(I4:I)+3, 7)=0)

Return Row Data if a Name is Found in a Column

I have a table with names on the left and corresponding work schedules to the right. I've created a separate table with some of those same names and want it to automatically fill in the corresponding work schedule for that person. Seemed simple but I'm very stuck. My level of experience with Google Sheets is what is stopping me from solving this.
Example Tables:
In the attached picture the table on the top is the original (hardcoded) data. The table on the bottom is where I want the schedule data to be automatically produced based on the name on the left. The fields with #N/A and #ERROR! are both failed formulas I tried. #N/A should have returned B7:G7. #ERROR! should have returned B4:G4.
I tried the 'LOOKUP' function with ARRAYFORMULA(INDEX) hoping to have it look up the value in the column and input the work schedule data that corresponds.
=LOOKUP("Clair",A1:A9,ARRAYFORMULA(INDEX(B1:G9)))
yielded an #N/A.
Started trying to use =If(REGEXMATCH(A13:A21,"Clair"),... ...) but the '... ...' shows where my intellectual limits are at the moment. I couldn't finish it because I think it's the wrong formula to use.
Something like this maybe?
Remove everthing in B13:G17, and put this formula in B13
=BYROW(A13:A17,LAMBDA(NAME,XLOOKUP(NAME,A1:A9,B1:G9,"NOT FOUND")))
BYROW() work with an array row by row, the given data A13:A17 has only 1 column, which is the name of staff as lookup value.

How do I filter a large dataset in Google Sheets without getting duplicates returned?

I am trying to create a new worksheet in a Google Sheets doc where I need to filter a Master data set based on values in a specific column.
I originally did a VLOOKUP in each specific column that I wanted returned but it brough back blank rows for the corresponding rows that did not match, and eventually it broke for some reason and stopped returning the correct data.
I have been trying to find a new way to do it and have most recently been trying XLOOKUP, but it returns duplicate rows of each correct match.
The original datasheet is mostly populated itself by VLOOKUPS, drawing in information from other trackers so I feel this must be why it is falling over.
The dataset looks roughly like this:

There are 40+columns in the tracker but I basically want to have a new sheet where I filter and return only the 'Y' values in the Y/N column, and return columns A:N (including the ID column) without leaving blank rows between the matches, and without returning dupllicates.
I have tried everything I can think of but I just cannot make it work, so any help on the matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sum every n columns starting at the 1st column in the range

In Excel/Google Sheets I have found how to sum every N columns on websites such as https://exceljet.net/formula/fixed-value-every-n-columns, but the problem is, from what I can see is that it starts at N column each time. I need something that starts from column 1 and then counts every N columns. like the following:
I need to do this with a formula and not a script.
With Google-Sheets, try:
Formula in M2:
=SUM(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(A2:J2),"Skipping "&L2))
Or, a single dynamic array formula (without dragging):
=INDEX(MMULT(A2:J4*(MOD(COLUMN(A2:J4),L2:L4)=1),SEQUENCE(10,1,1,0)))
Or, more dynamic:
=INDEX(MMULT(A2:J4*(MOD(COLUMN(A2:J4),L2:L4)=1),SEQUENCE(COLUMNS(A2:J4),1,1,0)))
Note: The latter would also work in Excel with slight modifications.

Conditional formatting used on A2:J:
=MOD(COLUMN(), $L2)=1
In M2:

and copied down.
Try this formula on column M:
=SUM((sumif(ArrayFormula(mod((COLUMN(B2:J2)-COLUMN(B2)+1),L2)),0,B2:J2))+A2)
Here's the result on Column M.
Just to break down the code sumif(ArrayFormula(mod((COLUMN(B2:J2)-COLUMN(B2)+1),L2)),0,B2:J2) does the actual calculation with the number of intervals set on Column L but take note that I started at the 2nd column so the range here does not include the first column. The result from this is at the Column O highlighted red as you can see in the screenshot.
At the Column M is the actual solution where I only added the first column by using SUM on top of the previous formula.
I hope my explanation is clear.
Just copy/drag the formula down to each row and it should work.

Transpose a table row by row

I need to transpose parts of a table row by row. The following example illustrates what the result needs to look like:
I tried different combinations of arrayformula(), flatten() and transpose(), succeeded with getting the last column right with =arrayformula(FLATTEN(B4:C)), but need now help with fixing this.

Try this in row 2 of the example screenshot:

Or if you want the column headings, put this in row 1:

The new column 'C' ends up being a mixed data type, so be careful if you run a future query on these results as it doesn't like mixed data.
For local implementation (as per your initial screengrab, EU locale file), try this in cell E4 - since the formula sits in row 4, the array range needs to go from 4 (A4:A):
={flatten({A4:A\A4:A})\arrayformula(flatten({if(A4:A<>"";B$3;)\if(A4:A<>"";C$3;)}))\flatten({B4:C})}
Alternatively, if you want column headings, try this in cell E3 - the array range is still A4:A because "A"\"B"\"C"; puts headings in row 3, ; is a return, then the rest of the formula targets data from row 4 down:

If you want to limit the array range to a specific row rather than working down the entire sheet (eg. row 20), then A4:A would need to be A4:A20.
This is a basic SPLIT(FLATTEN( problem.
Arrayformula() can always exist on the outside of a formula and will apply to the whole thing.
This is on a new tab in your sample called MK.Help:

Count the Occurences of a text for the whole spreadsheet

I have a spreadsheet where in every column I have a list of names. They can repeat, and whats even worse - cells can contain some additional text (apart from the name).
What I want to do is count the occurrences of the name in the whole spreadsheet (only looking at the name, omitting the potential additional text). Is Possible?
I tried the formula =UNIQUE, but it does not work vertically (I'm working with Google Sheets)

You can use Countif, Arrayformula, and Regexreplace to accomplish this task
Assuming you have the data range from A2:E12 and the prefilled unique names starting from A14
Formula:
=countif(ARRAYFORMULA(regexreplace($A$2:$E$12,".\(.*","")),A14)
Copy the formula until the last row

I'm sure that others will provide a much more elegant solution but this takes the data as presented in the spreadsheet and can be implemented in just a few minutes.
Paste this formula in Cell F3
=FILTER({A3:A13;B3:B6;C3:C5;D3:D5;E3:E5;A18:A21;B18:B20;C18:C20;D18:D20;E18:E19}, LEN({A3:A13;B3:B6;C3:C5;D3:D5;E3:E5;A18:A21;B18:B20;C18:C20;D18:D20;E18:E19}))
This creates a single column list compiled from the various smaller lists.
Highlight the range of names created in Column F (based on the test data = F3:F41), click Copy,
Highlight cell G3, click Paste special (Paste Values only) - this converts the formula to a list for entries.
Paste this formula in Cell H3 - this removes any data in brackets
=left(G3,iferror(search(" (",G3)-1,len(G3)))
Copy the formula down as many rows as there is data in Column G
Paste this formula in cell I3 - this lists the unique names
=unique(H3:H41)
Paste this formula in cell J3 and copy down as many rows as there is data in Column I - this counts the number of instances of each unique name in the master list.
=COUNTIF(H:H, I3)
