iPad using Shell does not fill portrait, but scales to landscape - ios

I am currently developing from Visual Studios, we have been working on iPhone primarily, but a scope has crept in to support iPad.
We are using Xamarin.Forms.Shell for our main page and navigation, but all the content pages are not filling the iPad. The navigation buttons are at the bottom as expected, but the content within while in portrait stops half way.
in info.plist I have Device Orientation checked all boxes, devices set tot Universal.
This happens on all pages.
What could I be missing?

Your VerticalOptions could be not set to expand, e.g: StartAndExpand or FillAndExpand.
Also, your stackLayout HeightRequest could be setted. If so, then the height will be limited as is.
Check also the main orientation of your project, if is Portrait or Landscape.
If the steps above don't work, please, edit your question and put the XAML of this page.

Scrolling in app when the Ipad is landscape and the app no longer fits in the size of the screen

Hello stackoverflow community,
I have just added the constraints to my iPad app and would now like that if you hold the iPad across that you can scroll the page, because not everything fits on a transverse page. If the Ipad is upright you should not be able to scroll (there everything fits).
How can I make that happen?

I would like to be able to use landscape mode on my app, which I originally designed to be portrait only. For this I have already inserted all constraints so that the size etc. fits. Now, however, the page is so full that it no longer fits on the complete display in landscape mode. Now I would like to be able to scroll down and thus the complete page is on the display. How it looks at the moment in portrait and landscape format I have loaded into the attachment (do not wonder the app is in German).

Existing app needs UIScrollView when using Size Classes

I have an iPad app that is written for Portrait mode; I am trying to add Landscape mode to it using Auto Layout. Everything appears to work just by changing the Size Classes in XCode, except some of the pages are longer when displayed in Landscape mode. My thoughts are to just add a UIScrollView to each page that needs it, at the top of the view hierarchy.
Is this the preferred method of solving this issue?
Yes, when designing an app for both landscape and portrait orientations you usually will need to make the content scrollable in landscape orientation.
You can also create a different layout for the landscape orientation and completely re-layout the UI components when the app rotates, but for simplicity putting all of your objects in a scroll view will solve your issue of limited real estate on the screen.

Splash screen requirement iOS app - Portrait

I am developing an iPhone app in Xcode 7 which will only open in portrait mode. My question is do I need to provide the launch/splash/default screen also for landscape mode or providing it in the various portrait mode sizes will be sufficient?
I think adding only the portrait ones should work for you. Hope you are using xcassets for managing splash screens. There, You can select the orientations and devices which you want to support. Here is a screenshot.
NOTE: This is from Xcode 6.4. Hope it's something similar in Xcode 7.
Design the LaunchScreen.xib file to look as your desired splash screen. Set proper constraints to your design elements/views. And thats it! It will appear as expected on any orientation.
For example:
If you want your app logo to appear in the center on app launch as splash screen, set your logo in a image view at center, give constraints for horizontally centering, vertically centering and height and width constraints. Now run the app by keeping simulator in various orientations and your launch screen will appear same in all orientations.

Why is iOS simulator displaying blank screen when I rotate device?

Getting through some introductory swift and playing with Xcode and I basically just have a page with some color squares, background color etc. Doesn't do anything. Problem is when I compile the code it will run in simulator just fine and show everything perfect, BUT when I rotate the device, everything disappears and it only gives me a blank white screen. Rotating right or left does it. The only view that shows it is the original upright view (for all iPhone devices that I tested on through the simulator).
Xcode 6.1.1 and iOS Simulator 8.1 are being used on my MacBook Air with OSX 10.9.5.
In the App general page, I have already checked under Deployment info that Landscape Right and Left are both checked on. Storyboard is set on Any H and Any W.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and it has been pretty difficult searching since I'm still new to iOS development I'm not sure I'm using the right words or whatever because I can't find an answer.
Summary:
App displays properly in iOS Simulator, Portrait View but no other views work and will display blank white screen instead.
In order to see if your views are actually being drawn and just off screen as others have suggested capture the view hierarchy. Go to 'debug' in the menu, then in 'view debugging' click capture view hierarchy. This will pause your app and create a 3D representation of all view on your screen which you can move around by clicking and dragging.
Are your views actually being drawn? If yes are they drawing off screen? If yes then you need to fix your constraints.
It sounds like you haven't set your constraints appropriately. Try setting the top and leading constraints for each of your views to something less than 320 (should cover all device sizes). Fix your warnings, then try again. I believe the views are simply off the screen.
You don't have the correct auto-layout UIConstraints set in interface builder. Check the document outline view in interface builder and ensure that you have appropriate constraints set on each view.
Auto Layout issues occur when you create conflicting constraints, when you don’t provide enough constraints, or when the final layout contains a set of constraints that are ambiguous.
Check this Apple documentation out, it will show you step by step how to resolve your (common) issue.

Ipad view Alignment

In my iPad app, i am supporting only portrait mode except on one screen. I have tab bar at bottom, on click of any tab,it opens a small view of size 320.0 * 600.0, with table view. On selecting any row in small view, a full screen view opens up. Problem is that when i came on full screen view which supports all orientations, next time,my other view especially the small view comes up with frame size of 768 * 1024.
Any sugeestions or help is appreciated!
I'm guessing the problem is that you read the frame size while still being in landscape mode. If you are running things in the simulator, it probably jumps back to portrait when you dismiss the full screen? This forces the app back to "portait" mode without triggering the normal "willRotate" functionality, and could possibly mess up your code for keeping track of orientations.
Also keep in mind that most apps needs to support all orientations on the iPad to get accepted, unless you're making e.g. a game which is normally specifically designed for either landscape or portrait.
