Currently we have a project that contains a 'pipeline script from SCM', but we would like to add an editable email notification for the results of these builds. To do this, we need to create a 'Freestyle project'. I can not find the option 'pipeline script from SCM' in a Freestyle project and I have no knowledge of Jenkins whatsoever. I have tried clicking on everything that contains "Git" and "pipeline", but I did not get any further.
Does anyone have an idea how I can easily convert this pipeline script from SCM within a Freestyle project?
I currently start the build of this project within the Freestyle project, but then I can not refer to the html results of the other project.

You should provide more information, is that a previous pipeline that you have created and after some run you want to edit the pipeline? or is this a new pipeline?
On an existing pipeline in your screenshot you should be seeing your shell like this:
if it's a new one you should select from the drop-down menu in "add build step" "execute shell".
User needs the ability to perform particular action in Jenkins UI on any of the job builds that are already finished with access to the build`s ID.
For each build in history there is menu with items "Changes", "Console output", "Delete build", "Rebuild" etc. Can I add a custom command into that menu using an existing plugin? The command will be "pass build ID to a script on Jenkins machine and launch the script" or at least "put build ID to a file" or "pass build ID to another job and launch it".
Is there any plugin that can do that?
The workarounds I am currently aware of are the following:
a separate Jenkins job that gets required build ID (needs launching another job, correct copying of the build ID)
rename build using menu item "Edit Build Information", then a script/cron job on Jenkins machine will do what it needs to (requires correct renaming)
putting a link to script into html report
artifact an html with the link to script
Looked at the plugins like "batch-task", "sidebar-link" etc., but all work on job level and not on build level.
P.S. It is a free-style Jenkins job, pipeline / Groovy has not been used.
Perhaps a Groovy script might help? How can it look like and how to make launching such script user-friendly (ideally with one button)?
I'm currently using Jenkins FreeStyle Project in my project,trying to migrate to Jenkins Pipeline, but I'm facing some issues:
1) I need to commit jenkinsfile in my project, but my deploy phase is just copy from target/project.war to jboss deployment folder, as shown below:

The problem: currently the path is fixed and tomorrow if a change occurs and there is a need to deploy to another machine, An update should be made to the source code which should be avoided. In FreeStyle project i just update the JOB and everything works.
2) The project has 3 modules. The FreeStyle project was configured so that JOB A will call JOB B on finish. In pipeline how can this order be achieved:
- Start JOB A --> JOB B --> JOB C.
You can add the following into your script
1.Issue with copying:
Firstly, you avoid using the actual path(Location of file in workspace) to a
relative Path i.e. using project/*.war or **/*.war it will take it
from the workspace itself.
Second, Coming to the issue that you have
to change the target location like you said you have to change it
FreeStyle Project :) so you have to change it in the
JenkinsFile also :)
2.To call other jobs in your pipeline and the following
build job: 'Job2', parameters: [

If it does not have any parameter remove that section out.

I have a Git repository with code I'd like to build but I'm not "allowed" to add a Jenkinsfile in its root (it is a Debian package so I can't add files to upstream source). Is there a way to store the Jenkinsfile in one repository and have it build code from another repository? Since my code repository has several branches to build (one for each Debian release) this should be a multibranch pipeline. Commits in either the code or Jenkinsfile repositories should trigger a build.
Bonus complexity: I have several code/packaging repositories like this and I'd like to reuse the same Jenkinsfile for all of them. Thus it should somehow dynamically fetch the right Git URL to use. The branches to build have the same names across all repositories.
Short answer is : you cannot do that with a multibranch pipeline. Multibranch pipelines are only designed (at least for now) to execute a specific pipeline in Pipeline script from SCM style, with a fixed Jenkinsfile at the root of the project.
You can however use the Multi-Branch Project plugin made for multibranch freestyle projects. First, you need to define your multibranch freestyle configuration just like you would with a multibranch pipeline configuration.
Select this new item like shown below :
This type of configuration will behave exactly same as the multibranch pipeline type, i.e. it will create you a folder with the name of your configuration and a sub-project for each branch it automatically detected.
The implementation should then be a piece of cake :
Specify your SCM repository in the multibranch configuration
Call another build as part of your build/post-build as you would do in a standard freestyle project, except that you have to call a parameterized job (let's call it build-job) and give it your repository information, i.e. Git URL and current branch (you can use the pre-defined variables $GIT_URL and $GIT_BRANCH for this purpose)
In your build-job, just define either an inline pipeline or a pipeline script checked out from SCM, and inside this script do a SCM checkout and go on with the steps you need to build. Example of build-job pipeline content :

Of course if your different multibranches projects need to be treated a bit differently, you could also use intermediate projects (let's say build-project-A, build-project-B, ...) that would in turn call the generic build-job pipeline)
The one, major drawback of this solution is that you will only have one job responsible for all of your builds, making it harder to debug. You would still have your multibranch projects going blue/red in case of success/error but you will have to go back to called build-job to find the real problem of your build.
The best way I have found is to use the Remote Jenkinsfile Provider plugin. https://plugins.jenkins.io/remote-file/
This will add an option "by Remote Jenkinsfile Provider plugin" under Build Configuration>Mode then you can point to another repo where the Jenkinsfile is. I find this to be a much better solution than the Pipeline Multibranch Defaults Plugin, which makes you store the Jenkins file in Jenkins itself, rather than in source control.

Where we need to configure the jenkinsfile on jenkins rather than having it on each branch of your repo
I have version 2.121 and you can do this two ways:
Way 1
In the multibranch pipeline configuration > Build Configuration > Mode > Select "Custom Script" and put in "Marker File" below the name of a file you will use to identify branches that you want to have builds for.
Then, below that in Pipeline > Definition select "Pipeline Script from SCM" and enter the "SCM" information for how to find the "Jenkinsfile" that holds the script you want to run. It can be in the same repo you are finding branches in to create the jobs (if you put in the same GitHub repo's info) but I can't find a way to indicate that you just use the same branch for the file.
Way 2
Same as above, in the multibranch pipeline configuration > Build Configuration > Mode > Select "Custom Script" and put in "Marker File" below the name of a file you will use to identify branches that you want to have builds for.
Then, below that in Pipeline > Definition select "Pipeline Script" and put a bit of Groovy in the text box to load whatever you want or to run some script that already got loaded into the workspace.
In my case, i have an escenario whith a gitlab project based on gradle who has dependencies on another gitlab preject based on gradle too (same dashboard, but differents commits, differents developers).
I have added the following lines into my Jenkinsfile (the one which depends)

I am using the jenkins multijob plugin to execute a number of parallel builds in the same build phase and i want to display the test results in the main multijob project so i select a post-build action step to 'Aggregate down stream test results' and select both options 'Automatically aggregate all downstream tests' and 'Include failed builds in results' but when the jobs complete and i go into the main multijob project it shows 'no tests' under 'Latest Test Result' link...
Has anyone else encountered this issue? My downstream 'child' projects that run in parallel are multi-configuration projects.
As a previous poster indicated, this is an open issue in the Jenkins JIRA and does not work. There is a workaround to achieve what your looking for. Your going to need the Copy Artifact Plugin and to also Archive the test result files as Artifacts in your jobs that are doing the test runs.
After you have installed this and configured your test run jobs properly, go to your Multijob and after all your test phases add a build step "Copy artifacts from another project" for each of the jobs you want the test results from. You can use "Specified by permalink" and use the "Last build" permalink to always retrieve the latest artifacts. Select the artifacts you want to copy (i.e. *.xml), and input your target directory as something like "job1". If you add multiple build steps to copy artifacts from another project, just name your target directories for the copied artifacts something similar like "job2", "job3", etc.
Then select a Post-build action in your Multijob as you would to Publish JUnit test result report (or whatever you prefer) and input **/job*/*.xml (or similar).
This is what I did, and it works just fine. It is a bit manual in the setup, but it works great once its configured.
