I have a sql script with an accept command in it, to prompt user for a variable.
From within SQL Plus, is there a way to run such a script and provide a parameter so that the prompt doesn't come up?
SQL > #testscript param
testscript contains something like
accept myvar prompt "Please insert a value"

I need to execute a script (Informix code) in a .sql file for migration purposes. The thing is, I want to load it from a function to be able to use the exception, therefore being able to do a rollback in case of an error.

That's because we apparently can't execute the load command inside functions. So I'm trying to execute it. But I'm not getting it right, apparently...
The objective here is to execute the script (not a shell command script! it's an Informix script, like creates, loads, unloads, drops...) on a file. I'm open to other ways of doing this.
I'm relatively new to Informix so I'm sure there is still a lot I don't know about it.
As already noted, the LOAD command is not a command recognized by the Informix server. Client products emulate an SQL statement by recognizing the syntax and reading the file and executing appropriate SQL statements. Changing the way you (try to) execute it in a function executing in the server will not help.
Using a shell script instead may help.
If you're migrating an existing Informix database to a new location (machine, version of Informix), then using DB-export and DB-Import may be a good way to go.
The DB-Access command is the 'standard' way to execute scripts from a shell script. You'd need to ensure you set the DBACCNOIGN environment variable to 1. That will then stop if there's an error during the LOAD and rollback the transaction. There's also the DB-Load command, but it will be harder to rollback DDL statements since it does not handle those.
Alternatively, you might find my SQLCMD* program useful — though it too isn't perfect. However, unlike DB-Access, it allows you to control which statements can generate errors that are ignored and which are not (continue [on|off|push|pop]; before and after as appropriate).
With careful packaging, you can use it to create your migration, assuming the DB-Export and DB-Import won't do the job for you automatically.
* You may have to subscribe to the IIUG to get at this. The registration is not onerous, and neither is the email load.
I am trying to pass more than nine parameters from Jenkins to JMeter4.0.
As I was reading, I found out that JMeter does not accept more than 9 parameters. As a workaround, I want to pass all the parameters as a string and split it in JMeter BeanShell.

I tried few log.info to check the values. For words[1] I have the correct value sent from Jenkins: 2. For the users the value displayed is: void.
I am trying to use it for Number of Threads as: ${__P(users,1)}.
What am I doing wrong? The values clearly arrive from Jenkins but I have a problem passing it to my variable. Thank you
You don't have a script variable named users, so you should either log words[0]:
log.info(words[0]);
Or you can log the value of JMeter variable called users:
log.info(vars.get("users"));
Or you can assign words[0] to variable called users:
String users = words[0];
log.info(users);
Also you are saving it as variable, not property, so you can retrieve it elsewhere in script as
${users}
The syntax __P refers to property, so if you want to use it as property, you need to change how you are saving it:
props.put("users", words[1]);
If you do that, ${__P(users,1)} should work
Now, if you want to use this value as number of threads, then you need to do this:
Have Setup thread group with 1 thread, and your script
In the script you must save users as property, otherwise it won't pass between threads
Next thread group then can use it as number of threads
As long as your command line fits into 8191 characters it should not be a problem to pass as many arguments to JMeter as you want, here is an evidence from Debug Sampler and View Results Tree listener combination
So keep calm and pass as many parameters as needed via -J command line arguments.
Be aware that starting from JMeter version 3.1 users are recommended to use JSR223 Test Elements and Groovy language instead of Beanshell so going forward please consider switching to Groovy.
I have a Rails webapp full of students with test scores. Each student has exactly one test score.
I want the following functionality:
1.) The user enters an arbitrary test score into the website and presses "enter"
2.) "Some weird magic where data is passed from Rails database to bash script"
3.) The following bash script is run:
./tool INPUT file.txt
where:
INPUT = the arbitrary test score
file.txt = a list of all student test scores in the database
4.) "More weird magic where output from the bash script is sent back up to a rails view and made displayable on the webpage"
And that's it.
I have no idea how to do the weird magic parts.
My attempt at a solution:
In the rails dbconsole, I can do this:
SELECT score FROM students;
which gives me a list of all the test scores (which satisfies the "file.txt" argument to the bash script).
But I still don't know how my bash script is supposed to gain access to that data.
Is my controller supposed to pass the data down to the bash script? Or is my model supposed to? And what's the syntax for doing so?
I know I can run a bash script from the controller like this:
system("./tool")
But, unfortunately, I still need to pass the arguments to my script, and I don't see how I can do that...

For example, in one of my systems I need to get image orientation:

Judging from my use of .to_s, running the command may sometimes return nil, and I don't want an error trying to chomp nil. A normal output includes the line ending which I feed to chomp.

First, make sure you escape any parameters you pass to command line. You may be easily attacked via command line injection this way. Try this instead:
system "/path/to/file.sh #{#user.shellescape}"

Currently I am using Choice parameter to input the hostname in a drop-down like below.
server1
server2
server3
I am include the selected value in property.
Server=%Hostname%
Also I am invoking the same in post build actions-->Email Notification-->Subject-->Login success for $Hostname.
But my requirement is instead of a drop-down I need a check box option for server1, server2 & server3 so that I can select multiple servers at one time and build the job.
Also I need to include the hostname in property and in email subject. But the Email subject should not contain the actual hostname (server), instead it has to be a different name.
Let's say,
server1 = DEV
server2 = QA
The property should take "server1" value and the email suject should take "DEV".

Extended Choice Parameter plugin is the way to go for such requirement. You need to select Extended Choice Parameter from the drop-down list as shown below.
Once you select that option, you will see another drop-down with the name Parameter Type as shown in the snapshot below. Select Multi Select from that drop-down. Enter the server names in Value box. Comma (,) is the delimiter.
Now if you run the command echo "Server: $Hostname" on *nix systems after selecting one (or more than one) server, you will get all the selected server(s) in the command output.
Now to address your query of displaying names such as Dev/QA instead of actual server names, you will obviously have to do some amount of scripting. Since you are taking the server names in a string, you will first have to split the string using comma (,) as delimiter to fetch individual values (servers). And then you will have do check each server and assign values to it. A pseudo code such as:

} elsif ( str eq server 2 ) {
host = Dev;
} and so on...
I wrote a similar script in Perl few back back. You can use your language of choice (bash, batch etc.)
To pass these variables in subject line of your mail etc., you will have to use EnvInject Plugin as suggested by Slav. You can write the value (QA/Dev) in some file while running your if...else code so that it could be later used by the EnvInject plugin. Just in case, if you want an alternative way, you can simply use the system's mail command depending on the flavor you have.
With the Extended Choice Parameter, you can change between dropdown/multiselect/checkbox/radio-button by selecting the value called "Parameter Type". If you don't see that, you probably have a very old version of that plugin.
As for the second part of your question: you are going to have to do that mapping in your scripts, inject it using EnvInject plugin, and then use the injected value in your email
