I have tried
Manage Jenkins ->Configure Global Security->Plugin Manager -> Checked Use Browser for metadata download
Manage Jenkins-> Manage Plugins-> Advanced ->The Update Site is set to http://updates.jenkins-ci.org/update-center.json
found it https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-63515
I have upgraded java from 1.8.0.66 to 1.8.0_272. I could not download JRE from oracle because oracle's new licensing restrictions but i have downloaded version 8 of OpenJDK from https://adoptopenjdk.net/
Then extracted the files -> Then Copied jre folder to JENKINS_HOME
On my machine JENKINS_HOME is C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins
You may have delete or rename existing jre folder before coping.

I have a working internet connection, but couldn't able to fix the issue.
The issue looks similar to this bug mentioned under the Jenkins Issue. The status shows that this bug is fixed but unreleased.
Check in the comments at the bottom of the page and you can find that it is caused by firewall.

Deploying web application in tomcat on Jenkins

I am using Jenkins to deploy web application on Tomcat7.
Tomcat installed as windows service and it has SWebServer name(installation path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SWebServer).

What is the problem ?
change the follow;
In the conf/tomcat-user add :
<user username="test" password="passTest" roles="manager-script"/>
In Jenkins,
EAR/WAR file: **/*.war
context path: prj
Tomcat URL : http://localhost:8080
So couple of things that you need to understand.
EAR/WAR: Mention the location of the file --> you can use *.war if the WAR is in the parent folder or use **/*.war if its in a sub folder
ContextPath: Where you want the war to be deployed in tomcat --> / will work
prefectly fine
Tomcat URL : port of deploying tomcat, couple of issues you might get like port already in use, change the port in server.xml to the one you like :)
<user username="uname" password="pwd" roles="manager-script,manager-gui"/>
Then above line can be specified in tomcat-users.xml --> your just giving access permission to jenkins with the user who has the following privileges
manager-gui — Access to the HTML interface
manager-script — Access to the tools-friendly plain text interface that is described in this document, and to the "Server Status" page.
P.S. Start tomcat before deploying that's one of the reasons you get connections refused :P

Jenkins - Can't download upgrades / plugins - Proxy is already set - Able to reach .hpi via http fine in IE

I got the Windows Native .zip from Jenkins site and installed Jenkins on my machine (Win 7) as Windows service.
The nice dashboard is up and now I want to download some plugins / even upgrade the version (First) as I got the .zip few weeks back.
When I tried to upgrade / download the plugins (under Manage Jenkins), I'm getting the following error messages, any idea what I could be missing.
Under Plugin's ADVANCE tab, I have provided the proxy server and port. Another point I noticed that when I'm downloading a plugin (and it fails) showing the link to the plugin .hpi file, if I use that "http ://../../.hpi" in Internet Explorer, it pops up fine (telling me to open/save etc) so in one sense, I'm able to reach the .hpi file directly. I can download the .hpi file manually and put it under the Jenkins installation/..respective/../../folder and restart Jenkins service everytime I install a new/replace an existing .hpi, but that I dont want to do that.

Since our update center server does not do any authentication and therefore never returns 403, most likely the 403 error is returned by your HTTP proxy. If I were you, I'd check the proxy user name and the password.
We should probably add a connectivity check button in the configuration page where you enter the proxy details. If you'd be so kind to file this as a ticket in https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/, I'd be happy to get to that.
Thanks Kohsuke. Issue was I was using the proxy hostname with http://proxyservername.com.
When I put "proxyservername.com", it worked. I'll open a ticket to get that "Test" Proxy connection button in. Would have been nice if (?) shows an example, but my bad.

jenkins slave on server with custom port

I've installed jenkins on suse 12.1 and changed the port in the config to 8081
/etc/sysconfig/jenkins
JENKINS_PORT="8081"
The webinterface works without any problem on this port, but when I want to start the client with JNLP he gives me the standardport:
javaws http://192.168.1.137:8080/computer/192.168.1.190/slave-agent.jnlp
Now I tried to run it with the right port:
javaws http://192.168.1.137:8081/computer/192.168.1.190/slave-agent.jnlp
But after a short time I get an error:
