Highchart - how to control gap between series - highcharts

In Highcharts, how do I control the gaps between categories?
I've highlighted the area I am talking about in blue below:
I want to make my highchart chart gaps look like this powerpoint version on the left below. The bars in PowerPoint go all the way to the end of the plot area, but highcharts have this big gap.
https://jsfiddle.net/15u0r64s/
Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
type: 'bar'
},
title: {
text: 'Historic World Population by Region'
},
subtitle: {
text: 'Source: Wikipedia.org'
},
xAxis: {
categories: ['Total', 'Male', 'Female', 'Other'],
title: {
text: null
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
title: {
text: 'Population (millions)',
align: 'high'
},
labels: {
overflow: 'justify'
}
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: ' millions'
},
plotOptions: {
bar: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -40,
y: 80,
floating: true,
borderWidth: 1,
backgroundColor:
Highcharts.defaultOptions.legend.backgroundColor || '#FFFFFF',
shadow: true
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: 'Total',
data: [10, 20, 31, '']
}, {
name: 'Male',
data: [10, 20, 60, 2]
}, {
name: 'Female',
data: [10, 20, 61, '']
}, {
name: 'Other',
data: [10, 20, 65, 4]
}]
});

You need to edit groupPadding and pointPadding properties:
plotOptions: {
bar: {
groupPadding: 0.05,
pointPadding: 0
}
}

dashStyle property is not working in angular 4

I'm making a chart which has two x-axis and two y-axis on it.
It's a line chart with smooth curve. It should have lines from two series as dash or longdash but when I use dashStyle it throws error.
I have seen many examples where it's working in jsFidler or Plunker.
Below is my code. I'm using Angular 4 with typescript.enter image description here
var ctx = document.getElementById("PumpCurveEvolutionChart") as HTMLElement;
var chart = Highcharts.chart(ctx, {
chart:{
height: 350,
width: 700,
marginTop: 30,
},
title: { text: 'Flow (l/S)', verticalAlign: 'bottom'}
,
xAxis: [{
categories: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.OEMFlow,
},
{
categories: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.CurrentFlow,
opposite: true,
labels: { enabled: false },
minorTickLength: 0,
tickLength: 0
}],
yAxis:[{
min: 0,
max: 100,
labels: { enabled: true},
title: { text: 'Head (m)'},
},{
min: 0,
max: 110,
opposite: true,
labels: { enabled: true},
title: { text: 'Efficiency (%)'}
}],
plotOptions: {
series: {marker: { enabled: false}, lineWidth: 2},
//line: { dashStyle: 'dash'}
},
legend: {enabled: false,
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -30,
y: 100,
borderWidth: 0
},
series: [{
xAxis:0,
yAxis:0,
data: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.OEMHead,
},
{
xAxis:0,
yAxis:1,
data: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.OEMHydrEfficiency,
},
{
xAxis:1,
yAxis:0,
data: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.CurrentHead,
},
{
xAxis:1,
yAxis:1,
data: this.getPumpCurveEvolution.CurrentHydrHead,
}]
});
You can use dashStyle by extending HighCharts.IndividualSeriesOptions:
export interface IHighChartCustomSeries extends Highcharts.IndividualSeriesOptions {
dashStyle?: string
}

Highcharts how to add an extra value to a bar

The goal is to make a bar chart like this one in the picture showing the values in percentage but also in MillionTonnes:
The bars are representing the percentage value. The value of the million tonnes is just extra information. Both values can go at the end of the bar and the percentage should appear first and then the Million Tonnes value. Something like:
49% (49.6 Million Tonnes). How can I make this two values appear at the end of the bar? This is the code I have. TIA
Highcharts.chart('grafica1', {
chart: {
type: 'column',
inverted: true,
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: 0,
plotShadow: false
},
title: {
text: ' '
},
xAxis: {
type: 'category',
labels: {
useHTML: true
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
max: 100,
title: {
text: null,
},
labels: {
enabled: false,
}
},
legend: {
enabled: false
},
tooltip: {
enabled: false
},
plotOptions: {
series: {
borderWidth: 0,
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
format: '({point.y:.1f} Million tones)%'
}
}
},
responsive: {
rules: [{
condition: {
maxWidth: 500
},
chartOptions: {
chart: {
inverted: false
},
legend: {
align: 'center',
verticalAlign: 'bottom',
layout: 'horizontal'
}
}
}]
},
series: [{
name: 'Production',
colorByPoint: true,
data: [{
name: 'PACKAGING PAPERS<br>AND BOARDS',
y: 49,
color: '#005eb8',
}, {
name: 'CASE MATERIALS',
y: 29.9,
color: '#fff',
borderWidth: 2,
borderColor: '#005eb8'
}, {
name: 'OTHER PACKAGING & PAPER',
y: 14.4,
color: '#fff',
borderWidth: 2,
borderColor: '#005eb8'
}, {
name: 'WRAPPINGS',
y: 4.7,

borderColor: '#005eb8'
}]
}]
});

<div id="grafica1" class="chart1Slide2"></div>
When using the stacking option (Doc) it's possible.
Here a working fiddle

Highcharts multiple series and axes types overlapping

I have a problem with a highcharts graph, regarding overlapping of multiple axes.
There are 2 types of series, one type column and one type line. I want the line type to be always above the others and never intersect them.
You may see my problem here:
http://jsfiddle.net/99tC7/
Anticipated thank you for any help provided.
$('#container').highcharts({
title: {
text: 'Title',
x: -20 //center
},
xAxis: {
categories: [ "5.11.13", "6.11.13", "7.11.13", "8.11.13", "9.11.13"],
labels: {
rotation: 270
}
},
yAxis: [{
plotLines: [{
value: 0,
width: 1,
color: '#808080'
}],
title:{
text: "Number 1"
},
},
{
plotLines: [{
value: 0,
width: 1,
color: '#808080'
}],
title:{
text: "Number 2"
},
opposite: true,
max:50,
minPadding:5,
}],
legend: {
layout: 'horizontal',
align: 'center',
verticalAlign: 'bottom',
borderWidth: 0
},
tooltip: {
enabled: false
},
plotOptions: {
line: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
formatter: function() {
return this.y +'%';
}
}
},
column: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
formatter: function() {
return this.y;
}
}
}
},
series: [{
name: 'L1',
type: 'column',
color: '#FF0000',
yAxis: 0,
data: [1, 5, 9, 10, 12]
},
{
name: 'L2',
type: 'column',
color: '#00FF00',
yAxis: 0,
data: [16, 16, 106, 12, 11]
},
{
name: 'L3',
yAxis: 1,
data: [38, 24, 37, 29, 37]
}
]
});
You can try to set correct min/max values in both yAxis like here http://jsfiddle.net/99tC7/1/

Reduce gap between series data in Bar Highchart

I want to reduce space between bar chart series data. Below mentioned is the image which gives a clear picture :
Can anyone suggest the best approach to do it?
$(function () {
$('#container').highcharts({
chart: {
type: 'bar'
},
title: {
text: 'Historic World Population by Region'
},
subtitle: {
text: 'Source: Wikipedia.org'
},
xAxis: {
categories: ['Africa', 'America', 'Asia', 'Europe', 'Oceania'],
title: {
text: null
}
},
yAxis: {
min: 0,
title: {
text: 'Population (millions)',
align: 'high'
},
labels: {
overflow: 'justify'
}
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: ' millions'
},
plotOptions: {
bar: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -40,
y: 100,
floating: true,
borderWidth: 1,
backgroundColor: '#FFFFFF',
shadow: true
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: 'Year 1800',
data: [107, 31, 635],
pointWidth: 22,
}, {
name: 'Year 1900',
data: [133, 156, 947],
pointWidth: 22
}]
});
});
http://jsfiddle.net/fMdk3/5/
The options you want to play with are pointPadding (padding between bars) and groupPadding (padding between seies).
e.g.
plotOptions: {
series: {
pointPadding: 0,
groupPadding: 0.1,
}
},
e.g. http://jsfiddle.net/BZzWQ/
