Umbraco Whole Content Autosaving - umbraco

I am wondering if it is possible to autosave all the contents in Umbraco so that we don't lose any edits should something happen to the server or browser?
I am aware of the solution of autosaving rich text editor, but at this stage, I want to autosave Whole the contents (rich text editor and the rest)
I am using Umbraco version 7.11.1

https://www.nuget.org/packages/Preserver.Umbraco/
This package stores state in local storage, then prompts to restore it when returning to the page (ie if the browser crashes, power cut, etc).
So no autosave, due to versioning, but enables restoring the unsaved changes.
This means that if for any reason we lose the server, the local version can be restored later.

Deleting document types, content now inaccessible

I am learning Umbraco (7) and deleted a test document type and template, without realising there was a content page using these (very surprised Umbraco lets you do this!)
I then couldn't access the content page to delete it (404 error). I created a new page, but that also had problems, almost certainly due to the database now having incorrect integrity, ie links now broken.
Two questions :
is there any way to prevent deletions where there are still linked content elements?
How would I fix this? Do I need to delete the orphaned content in the SQL backend db using SQL Management Studio? Or can something be done in the Umbraco front end eg scripts in macros?
Thanks
Unfortunately deleting a document type does in fact remove all content using that document type, I am unaware of any way to recover this content other than to restore a backup.
It is a fundamental flaw I think that you are able to do this so easily and has been there for as long as I have been working with Umbraco (since v3!).
Have you tried rebuilding your XML Cache file to try and overcome the orphaned link problems?

umbraco richtext editor deleted

I had a problem with umbraco richtext editor, it was not letting me insert images, so I followed a forum and deleted the richtext editor datatype in the developer section, then i recreated the richtext editor datatype with the same settings.
My problem is: all the properties in the node which were of type RichText editor have disappeared from the content pages. i cant see the text and the editor. But i can still see the content on the website!
so i cannot edit them from the content section but i can see them on the website!
Kindly, help!
Most likely you need to add the bodyText property (or whatever you were using) to the document type(s) again. It's possible that the data was also removed, so beware republishing a node until you have the text back in there.
The reason you can still see the content on the site is because when a node is published, it's properties are cached. When the site has to access a property for the front end, it pulls it from the cache rather than getting it directly from the database. This allows the site to perform faster.
So add the rich text editor back to the document type. Copy the text from the front end back into the backend (hopefully you don't have a million pages), and always perform a backup of the site, database and all, before attempting fixes of this nature.
Have you tried access Developer/Data Types/Richtext editor and set again the options that you want?

Detecting what folders to upload to a live Drupal 7 site after changes?

I haven't yet setup version control (GIT) for my development and production environments as a result I am facing trouble syncing everything. My site is powered by Drupal 7.
For example, for a Content type that I created, what exactly is the folder on my development site that I should be uploading. And as far as the content type I created, what folder should I be uploading to the live server?
Another case is where I make changes to 'Text formats' found in admin -> configuration and a couple of other places in admin -> configuration, well, Not sure what folder I should be uploading either.
Thanks much people!
P.S: Feel free to give me some slack for not setting up GIT or version control, lesson learnt but for now I need to get this uploaded
Thanks!
You don't need to upload any files/folders for the situations you've described, all content type and text format data is stored in the database.
Content type data is stored in the node_type table, and text formats are stored in the filter_format table.
Further data relating to both are stored in the variables table as serialised strings.
Hope that helps

Delphi - Grab the source of a webpage running in firefox

How can I get the source of a webpage that is currently running in an instance of firefox using delphi ? I would like to do this without making firefox the active window first if that is possible but just grabbing the source is my primary question.
TIA,
Dave

How to embed a browser object, other than IE<n>, in a Delphi application
This is about embedding firefox (amongst others) but has lnks to other pages that shows methods that you can navigate the DOM with.
I'd look at using IE if possible it's fairly well documented how to do this in IE.
Obligatory "here's one way, but don't do it" from the ClipBoard guy....
One ugly hack I've seen is to send keystrokes to the app and force it to copy/paste the data to the clipboard. Don't go down this road. It will work, for you, in a controlled environment. It won't work for your users, who will experience compatibility issues, unexpected trashing of their clipboard data, and crashes from other apps that are monitoring the clipboard for updates.
And no, you cannot save/restore the clipboard without causing even more trouble.

How Can I Automatically Execute A Link In Internet Explorer

I am trying to create an application to print documents over the web. I have created my document, and made a web page with a meta refresh tag, along the lines of this:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;http://example.com/download.epl2" />
I specify that the document has a content-type of application/x-epl2, and I have associated .epl2 files on my computer with a program that silently sends them to the printer.
I have put the website into my trusted sites zone.
Currently Internet Explorer pops up the "Open, Save, Cancel" dialog box with no option to automatically open the file.
Is there a setting in IE6/7/8 that I can use to have IE just open the file without prompting?
EDIT
The actual content of the file will differ based on the job, but essentially it is text that follows the Eltron Programming Language.
EDIT
I have accomplished this in both Chrome and Firefox by choosing "Automatically Open Files Of This Type From Now On"
EDIT
The machines this program will be used on will effectively be kiosks that are limited to only accessing my website from their web browsers, so I'm not worried about rogue websites sending documents to my printers.
EDIT
I am using PHP to generate the documents and HTML on the server side, though I expect the solution to be language agnostic.
I would expect that not to be possible, because then you could stumble onto a site that automatically loads and prints a 5000 page document or something, which would not be good.
If you always had a secret desire to develop a custom URL protocol (I know I do), this might be a good excuse to do it. ;-)

There are 1-2 prompts when opening such a link for the first time in IE, but you can choose to automatically open them after that.
I would use javascript to make this happen.
Javascript Window Open
EDIT
Since you have control of the windows box you could use an automate script process to interact with the print window.
autoit3: ControlClick
Write a small utility program that does nothing but send the file passed to it on the command-line to the default system printer.
Then, edit the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT to associate this program with the .epl2 filetype.
I don't have time to investigate it for You, but there were lots of exploits that could be helpful. Using ie6 without certain fixes seems helpful.
Also there should be an option called "Automatic prompting for file downloads". I use Linux nowadays so I can't chceck if it helps. I found it in some docs.
I'm on a Mac at the moment, but if this is possible in IE I would imagine this page holds the answer to it (or at least hints at it) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883255
I believe what you're looking for is a setting in Windows, not IE:
Microsoft Support: Not Prompted to Specify Download Folder for File
Try using an older version of IE. Security was looser in the older versions and since it's a non-issue, this could be the quickest solution.
