How to deploy apps with Microsoft Graph support - microsoft-graph-api

basically I want to deploy a NET.Core application where Calendar data will be read from an Exchange server account.
So the user has to fill out his login data and that it.
This works fine with Exchange.Webservices in Windows, but Exchange.Webservices are not working in Linux due the .NETFramework dependency.
I also tried the "Sherlock Exchange.WebservicesStandard" package which is also not working.
Microsoft Graph is a product I don't understand.
Is is correct, that every user needs to have an Azure Account and his own APPID?
If that is correct, this product seems to be a little bit useless in my opinion.
Any ideas?

As a developer, you will need an appid for your application which you will get from https://portal.azure.com/. Users of your application will not need any of this.

Make the Web App on Azure portal only Available few hours in a Week

I am building a ASP.Net Core Web App which I am trying to host in the Azure portal. We have requirement that these Applications can be accessed only certain times in a week, those times are stored in the Azure Database. Is it possible to make the App Available/Accessible to the users upon looking at database
Here the Setting is that the application should be available only between 14:00 - 16:30 on TUESDAY. When I tried to research we can schedule tasks/workflows in the portal but couldnt find what I am looking for. All I wanted to know is this requirement possible, if so please share the idea.. I am new Web App development and Azure deployment, any help is greatly appreciated
This feature is not available in Azure out of the box. This is something you will have to handle yourself.
One obvious way to implement this would be to check if the application should be available on every request. If the request day and time falls between the available times set in the database, you show your users the website content otherwise show them some kind of not available message.
A more complicated way would be to make use of App_offline.htm file to make your site unavailable. You can dynamically add/delete App_offline.htm file to your WebApp based on the day/time when you want your site to be offline/online.
However please note that while your site is offline, you will still be charged for the WebApp as the resources keep remain provisioned.
You can use Azure Automation Service to orchestrate processes like this. You will have to create a runbook (script in python or powershell) that will query the DB and figure out the times when the Azure Website hosting your webapplication should be started or stopped.

Publishing MVC app on web

I am trying to publish my app on the web. It is very simple app, I have just start to learn MVC. To publish my app I have followed the instructions given at http://www.asp.net/web-forms/overview/deployment/visual-studio-web-deployment/deploying-to-iis. However I cannot see app from other PCs. I see it in browser from the PC where I have created it, but when I try to open it from another PC it is not visible, the link I am trying to access is the one I created during publishing - http:/localhost/WebApplication1. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Or maybe the example I followed is not correct for the thing I want to do. Could,please someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advance.
If you publish your site on localhost, you'll see it only in your local network. To publish it on the web, you'll need some web hosting service. You can try, for example, Microsoft Azure, it works perfectly with ASP.NET (not too surprisingly, as it comes from Microsoft), has a 30 day free trial period and otherwise is relatively cheap for low usage.

QuickBooks Online from Desktop application

I am new to QuickBooks and all my searching has been leading to conflicting answers. I really need to know this to move forward.
We have an on-premise application (legacy MFC app if that matters). Some of our customers use QuickBooks Online and we can send information up to it. In the past we have used QBXML which I believe is not supported for online anymore.
Everything I read at intuit.com talks about web applications. I think I have to have OAuth security and I do not see how intuit is supporting that from a non-browser based application.
I cannot believe that intuit would not have an answer for this situation so I must be confused.
So, can I send data to QuickBooks Online from a desktop application?
If yes, which API/SDK should I be using?
If I need OAuth how exactly do I implement this?
Does any of this require an independent security review?
I think I just need a little help getting pointed in the right direction.

Unfortunately I think you have the most difficult scenario in the QB ecosystem.
I've used the DevDefined OAuth library with some success:

You can get this to work on the desktop if you have a localhost server that the browser can redirect to on the OAuth callback.
Anything that talks to QBO needs to use the QBO API v3 now.
For a custom app that talks to QBO, you would need to set up your app # Intuit to run in development mode, so it wouldn't have to go through their security review, etc. But that limits the number of connections you can have (I think it's 10). So it might not work in your case. Also, if you're distributing your app to "normal" customers it may not be the best user experience, and probably isn't practical, to set it up so OAuth will work on the desktop.
You might just have to bite the bullet and create an intermediate web service on something like Azure or Heroku, then go through the whole process of getting Intuit to bless your app for production.

How to programmatically obtain OAuth2 client credentials for Google API

I'm trying to create a redistributable web application that will integrate with Google Analytics through the Google Reporting API. Customer will install the application on their server.
I'm following this tutorial (I'm using PHP, but I believe this is not of importance for my question)

This works fine. No issues there.
However I can't figure out one missing element:
The tutorial starts with sending me to the Google APIs console where I have to create and configure a new API project and create and configure a client ID.
That's a lot of work that requires fairly technical knowledge (redirect url, selecting correct API, error-prone copy-and-pasting, etc.)
So my questions:
Is there an API so I can programmatically set this up for my user?
If that's not possible, is there a more user-friendly way to obtain Analytics reporting that is future-proof? (I noticed they are currently deprecating a few older APIs)
Unfortunately that's AFAIK not possible.
You could go one of the following ways:
Move client_id and client_secret to some configuration file and help your customer with deployment.
Show a one-time setup wizard for your app and guide your customer step-by-step. There you can at least provide him with the right callback URLs.
Regard your application as "installed application" and instrument curl or something similar for sending the requests.

How can I get twitter running on my local server?

I want to put the Twitter service on my server and customize it for my purpose. I have no idea how it works.
My goal is to communicate to your own Twitter server rather than the original twitter server and serve my purpose.
You should check out: StatusNet. It is an open source micro blogging platform. From their site, you can download the source and deploy it on your own server. Once you have it installed you can customize it to your liking.
Twitter isn't an Open Source project - they don't provide their server code.
From my experience at another company deploying very widely distributed systems, the chances are there's a bucket-load of infrastructure you'd need to get running first - complete overkill for a single-server solution, but vital for a global service with many millions of users. In other words, even if Twitter did provide their code, it probably wouldn't be an appropriate solution for your situation.
The actual Twitter (twitter.com) service is proprietary, you can't run it yourself.
There are plenty of open source twitter clones out there. The more general name is "microblogging". Pinax for example has basic microblogging. Try searching google for 'open source microblogging' for other projects.
I don't believe the Twitter platform is freely available to the general public. If you want to make your own "Twitter server", you're going to have to clone the service yourself.
You can't run Twitter on your own server, but you can write your own application that talks to Twitter through Twitter's API.
It all depends on what you mean by "customizing" Twitter. There are many applications like Twitpic and TweetDeck that are built "on top of" Twitter. They add their own functionality while leaving Twitter to do the "heavy lifting".
For example, I have written a personal project for moderating a stream of tweets. This application runs on my local server, but it gets its data by querying Twitter's API.
There are two main advantages to extending rather than rebuilding Twitter:
It takes a lot less effort because you can reuse all the basic functions of Twitter
You can take advantage of Twitter's huge user base. Even if you succeeded in cloning Twitter, it would be far less interesting than the original because Twitter works by strength of numbers.
You could use Wordpress and get the twitter developer add in then get a api code from them and there users can use your site and vice versa also apps for twitter will work for your site.
Wow. That's a highly ambitious request that you have there. Twitter isn't like Wordpress, there's no .org version that can be downloaded and run locally. Twitter is a highly scalable service that is designed to run on large scale servers.
