Append to String or var in Dart - dart

When I want to append to a string or var in PHP I use:
value = "this one";
value .= " and that one";
How do I do this in Dart? I can't find the correct documentation to tell me this.
I'm literally just after knowing the correct operator.

Well, there are multiple ways to do that. If you want code which looks like PHP you can do this:
var value = "this one";
value += " and that one";
Else, you can use some of the recommendations from:

Swift: read string based on provided user info

On Xcode (Swift) I want to load data stored on the app based on information provided by the user.
For example, the user gives the input of "Xcode":
var userInput = "Xcode"
With this information, I want to display the a stored string with the exact same name that is already on the app:
let Xcode = "Xcode is a development tool."
This is what I get when I print:
print ("Print: ", userInput) -> Print: Xcode
But I want to print the result from the string value stored from the app instead. The result I'm looking for is this:
print ("Print: ", userInput) -> Print: Xcode is a development tool.
I have to associate the input to the string stored, how can I do this without manually associating thousands of words to the strings I want to show? What is the best approach to get this result?
Thanks!
My approach where I have to do one by one is this:
switch userInput {
case Xcode: // This is the info provided by the user.
userInput = Xcode // This is the string stored on the app.
break
}
But once I have thousands of strings this approach is terrible, but works:
print ("Print: ", userInput) -> Print: Xcode is a development tool.
You have to define a data model for your information. If you have too much data, I suggest to create a JSON file where each key is the userInput with the associated value. Then you can parse the JSON file into a dictionary where you can easily retrieve the key-related value.
At this point you can define your own print method that prints the value associated with the key passed as parameter simply using object(forKey:) method.
I can't exactly understand your question. But what I've understood is to do this with Dictionary data type. Here is the sample code for this.
var str = "Hello, playground"
var responseMessages : [String : String] = ["" : ""]
if responseMessages[str] == nil
{
responseMessages[str] = str;
}
print(responseMessages[str]) // Output : Optional("Hello, playground")
You know better to remove optional keyword from string values by casting them to String data type.

How can I do about " and ' for saved object in server side and use it for JSON.parse() in javascript?

How can I do about " and ' for saving object and use it for JSON.parse() in javascript?
Because I have some strings and user can type using " and ' in a single string, for example "some description like "abc" for '3 feet" or "about 3'5 feet" or "wel"come"". When I want to transform into a JSON, especially when I want to parse in view side, for example:
var test = '${test as JSON}';
It breaks because contains escape like \"
However, if only contains " and use this JSON.parse("[{"abc": "asda"das"}]"), still invalid, because need escape.
So, I really don't know what I should do in thoses cases. I need some explanation how to fix, avoid or magic.
JSON can be treated directly as Object in Javascript. So you can simply write:
var test = ${(test as JSON).toString()}
Optionally, you can pass true to the toString() method to make the JSON pretty string or Object.
var test = ${(test as JSON).toString(true)}

Check if entered text is valid in Xtext

lets say we have some grammar like this.
Model:
greeting+=Greeting*;
Greeting:
'Hello' name=ID '!';
I would like to check whether the text written text in name is a valid text.
All the valid words are saved in an array.
Also the array should be filled with words from a given file.
So is it possible to check this at runtime and maybe also use this words as suggestions.
Thanks
For this purpose you can use a validator.
A simple video tutorial about it can be found here
In your case the function in the validator could look like this:
public static val INVALID_NAME = "greeting_InvalidName"
#Check
def nameIsValid(Greeting grt) {
val name = grt.getName() //or just grt.Name
val validNames = NewArrayList
//add all valid names to this list
if (!validNames.contains(name)) {
val errorMsg = "Name is not valid"
error(errorMsg, GreetingsPackage.eINSTANCE.Greeting_name, INVALID_NAME)
}
}
You might have to replace the "GreetingsPackage" if your DSL isn't named Greetings.
The static String passed to the error-method serves for identification of the error. This gets important when you want to implement Quickfixes which is the second thing you have asked for as they provide the possibility to give the programmer a few ideas how to actually fix this particular problem.
Because I don't have any experience with implementing quickfixes myself I can just give you this as a reference.

namevaluecollection removes "+" characters from querystring

I have the followigurl localhost.dev?q=dyYJDXWoTKjj9Za6Enzg4lB+NHJsrZQehfY1dqbU1fc= and extract the query string as follows:
NameValueCollection query = HttpUtility.ParseQueryString(actionContext.Request.RequestUri.Query);
string str1 = query[0];
If i call query.ToString() it shows the correct characters query string. However, when I access the value from the NameValueCollection 'query[0]' the "+" is replaced by a empty " " i.e. dyYJDXWoTKjj9Za6Enzg4lB NHJsrZQehfY1dqbU1fc=
I've tried specifing different encoding and using the Get method from the namevaluecollection. I've also tried spliting the string, but the "+" is being removed each time. Has anyone got any ideas? Many thanks
You can't use this chars in the url variables, you need use URLEncode and URLDecode of HttpUtility class to convert this into a valid url.
I hope this help you.

Strings pre-filled with spaces in Dart

A fairly basic question :
I would like to create a string initialized to a dynamically decided number of spaces in dart.
Here's something that worked :
String spaces(n) {
var result = new List<int>.filled(n+1,32);
return new String.fromCharCodes(result);
}
Is there a better way?
Well you can always fill the list with spaces and join them:
String spaces(n) => new List.filled(n + 1, ' ').join();
This seems quite concise and easy to interpret:
''.padRight(32, ' ')
Try it in DartPad
