Google Sheets Query same data from numerous columns - google-sheets

We have Employee training data in a Google 'Form Response' spreadsheet which ranges from A1 to JQ1000. This spreadsheet is automatically populated when a Goggle Form is completed but it is difficult to look at so I want to tidy it up.
The Form Response spreadsheet is populated with the Training Event, the date of the event and the employees who attended that event. To tidy it up I thought it best to use Transpose(Query but an employee's name might appear several times in different columns and different rows. I don't want to have to write 'Select * WHERE C = 'David Bowie' OR D = 'David Bowie' OR E = 'David Bowie'" and so on out to column JQ. Can someone help me with a simpler formula?

Google Sheets Query Search Box | Search criteria

so basically I have a searchbox in my sheet that searches and pulls up data. For a reference see this image: https://i.imgur.com/MVTUCSw.png. So basically in cell A4 I put the data that I am looking for, but my formula restricts me to only looking up stuff in 1 row. For example, data starting with the word MELD, but I would like to be able to also look up data based on for example the someone their name.

The searchbox is only able to lookup data in row, but I just want to be able to search for any kind of stored data in any of the sheets.

I'd recommend you add more rows for the lookup criteria and add a column for what column it would search for.

Note:
The above formula will allow you to search on other columns with their own words and criteria to search.
Only rows with Kolom values will be included in the criteria. If you only need Col1 criteria, make sure to leave other rows blank.
This does use an AND search, meaning all of the criteria should be true and match the row. Feel free to use OR in the TEXTJOIN function if you only want to search all rows matching any of the criteria.
This will only search on sheets Pallets & Locaties and Voorraadverschillen. Add the necessary sheets if you need them.

This searches every column for the data, as long as data is not identical in two columns you won't have issues. An example would be the search criteria "MELD" being in both Column A and B. If that were the case, only the results from the first matching column would populate.

Query particular row + remove X columns + and sum the rest in one formula?

I have a CSV file that I'm pulling from a database. It's in an awkward layout so I need to reorganise it and display the result in a separate sheet.

It looks like that. The database grows every day by date and sometimes countries so I need to account to that in my formula.
I need to pull data per each country and display it by date.
I don't need data from Column A, C and D. And when there are multiple states I need to sum them up in one column.
It should look like this and keep growing downwards. I'm gonna use this table for a graph chart
What I've tried so far

This works, kinda. But pulls in unnecessary columns and I can't figure out how to sum countries with multiple states. When I add select sum(*) it gives me a big and long error. I assume it might be because of unnecessary columns that the formula cant sum up and I don't know how to omit them. I'm stuck
I tried offset and skipping no luck. Any ideas?

How do I create a multiple sheets that use a google sheet named TOTAL as the data source?

How do I create multiple sheets that use a Google sheet named TOTAL as the data source? Each sheet must contain the same three columns from TOTAL and other specific data, for instance, FLUX will have six columns, three from TOTAL and three custom columns added manually.
I used a query function to import the data from TOTAL to FLUX so that updating data in TOTAL will update it also in FLUX
The data in TOTAL are not fixed. It will change adding rows, which might change the order of the list. For instance, adding the row 13 in TOTAL will shift down the data in column A:C in FLUX, but not columns D:F
Is that a way to keep the reference out of the QUERY part?

you would need to create ID system and then you would be able to match your query with rest of the static columns. in sheet SALES remove that query and put IDs in A column. then your query will be:

I have the same problem and I can't understand few steps from the answer.
Firstly, the A columns of both sheets (TOTAL and SALES) must have IDs?
Secondly, I can't really understand how the Sheets SALES should look like. Should it be like, Col A = IDs, ColB to C query from TOTAL and Col E to G static data?
In this case is it still correct creating a query in Sheet3 reading data from TOTAL?

Display Rows From Another Sheet Based On Range Of Dates

I'll try to explain this as best as I can, I'm not super experienced with spreadsheet formulas so bear with me.
Currently I have 2 Google spreadsheets, one contains a list of all client related tasks. The second spreadsheet is client specific, it has a few sheets such as "Feeder", "Archived Requests", "Monthly Report". The "Archived Requests" sheet lists all the data assigned to a specific client from my first spreadsheet using QUERY IMPORTRANGE:

This part works all fine and good.
My "Feeder" sheet lists some =DATE and =EOMONTH formulas which I have made into Named Ranges.
What I'd like to do, ideally, is display all data from the "Archived Requests" sheet on the "Monthly Report" sheet between the named range "ReportMonthStart" and "PriorMonthStart".
Essentially, what I'm hoping to achieve is a dynamic listing of row data that goes back 30 days from the 15th of each month.
I'm not sure if this should/can be done with a Query or a Filter, or any other formula.

The filter does this nicely:
=filter('Archived Requests'!A2:E, ('Archived Requests'!A2:A >= PriorMonthStart) * ('Archived Requests'!A2:A <= ReportMonthStart))
This returns A-E entries of the rows where A column is between PriorMonthStart and ReportMonthStart. Multiplication of two conditions is logical AND.

using both QUERY and FILTER together in a single statement?

I hope someone can help me; I am building some spreadsheets to help with time-tracking. I have a list of tasks, with columns for criteria including date, hours spent, category of work, and client.
I want to filter this data by month, so for example I would like to know how long I spent in a single month on correspondence. This means I need to select all the rows where category = 'correspondence' and where the dates are all from one specified month. At the moment, I am having to use a query which outputs to an intermediary table, and then run a filter function on that table in order to output to my final table. Here are my two functions:
=QUERY( 'Task List'!A4:F , "select A, B, E, F where C = 'Correspondence'" )
that gives me the first table, with just the rows where the category is "Correspondence". Then, on that table, I have to run the next function:
=filter(J4:M,J4:J>=date(2015,4,1),J4:J<=date(2015,4,31))
To get only the rows from this month of April. If possible I would like to remove the intermediary table (which serves no other purpose and just clutters my sheet).
Is it possible to combine these statements and do the process in one step?

That is indeed possible.
Since you didn't specify in which column the dates are to be found (in the 'raw' data), I assumed for this example that dates are in col F. The easiest way would be to use the MONTH() function. However, when used in query(), this function considers January as month 0. That's why I added the +1. See if this works ?

I came to this question needing to filter by weeknum() and year() as well as query by contains(). It can be helpful to combine the query and filter functions for similar but more dynamic date and text matching needs. If for example the OP had needed to show this data by week, that is not available in the Google Query Language.
The filter function does not have the contains function so you are limited to exact match text or using Reg-Ex. The Query Lanuague does not have the Weeknum functions.
Combining Filter and Query can be useful in scenario similar to this question but with a dynamic timeline (no hard set month or date such as rolling timeline) and where the text your matching is not exact (when you need to use a contains function from query language).
Here is an example for combining filter and query in Google sheets.
=(sum(Filter(QUERY(FB!$A:$Z, "select Q where B contains 'Apple'"), Weeknum (QUERY(FB!$A:$Z, "select E where B contains 'Apple'")) = Weeknum($A8))))
In this example I queried Facebook ads data export for any posts which contained the word 'Apple' in their title, and where Weeknum() matched the ongoing weeks on my sheet, in order to pull weekly data from multiple sources into one table to build reports, with minimal updating required as the timeline runs on.
It selects Q(spend) Where B(title) contains Apple, and Weeknum(E) matches week number on current row of sheet(A8). I have found this useful many times. Query + Filter Example Sheet Here.
If OP wanted to pull this info dynamically as the months went on if A column contained months in order the formula could be pulled along and would automatically pull data from query data filtered by matching month month.
