I updated PlasticSCM to the latest version (8.0.16). Now when I start plastic I get that error: the client configuration file "client.conf" contains error: Root element is missing.
Everything worked correctly before updating. I tried reinstalling PlasticSCM and remove client.conf file but it did not help the client still does not start.
The Plastic SCM client.conf file is used by both the GUI and the CLI to store the main user preferences.
I tried reinstalling PlasticSCM and remove client.conf file but it did
not help the client still does not start.
It's ok to remove it, but additionally, you need to reconfigure the Plastic SCM Client. Please run the following command to do it.
plastic --configure
or run the "Client configuration wizard".
If you keep facing the problem I recommend you to open a support ticket -> https://www.plasticscm.com/support. The team will help you to fix the problem.

Symptom: Unable to start PlasticSCM.
Error: Root element is missing.
Full text of error: "the client configuration file "client.conf""
Actions:
I tried reinstalling. I have also tried running the configure command.
What to do?
You can try to delete client.conf with all GUIs closed so it rebuilds next start, its located in the hidden folder Users/youruser/.plastic4 (Mac) or Users/youruser/appdata/local/plastic4 (windows).
If the problem persists you can contact PlasticSCM support at support#codicesoftware.com
Solution:
Delete "client.conf" under "C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Local\plastic4"
Rerun the "cm configure" command and/or reinstall.
Those files are not deleted under reinstallation to not break the configuration between upgrades. Thus they have to be deleted manually.
On my Jenkins Master, versio 2.203, when I'm trying to update the plugins, I have this error:

I have tried the option JENKINS_JAVA_OPTIONS ="(..) -Djsse.enableSNIExtension=false" but didn't work.
Any idea what I can do?
Thank you.
Removing -Djsse.enableSNIExtension=false from the Jenkins Java options fixed it for me. On Ubuntu, I went to the etc/default/jenkins file, located JAVA_ARGS and removed -Djsse.enableSNIExtension=false from this line. You need to reboot the mahcine after that for the new settings to get in effect before you try to update the plugins again on Jenkins.
We want to have the same VSCode settings for the whole crew of developers. Also it would be fine to have a oneline command to tear VSCode down and restart it from scratch with predefined settings and plugins so that you do not have to worry about trying out plugins and getting beck to the known state. Kind of Config-as-Code for VSCode.
I already found:
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/extension-gallery#_command-line-extension-management
https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-dev-containers
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Shan.code-settings-sync&ssr=false#qna
https://github.com/gantsign/ansible-role-visual-studio-code-extensions
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/containers
https://github.com/gantsign/ansible-role-visual-studio-code
But non of these provides a good solution to me
We are using Mac and Windows machines and develop most of the time locally (not remotely in the cloud or the like).
I imagine like having a script like
.... projectname up
or
.... projectname reset
(or
.... projectname down)
to receive/reset the configured settings and newest plugins that have been configured for the project.
Have any ideas or use a similar solution already?
After doing a lot of research, playing with Docker, Ansible and so on... it seems that although I excluded it at first the plugin Settings Sync Plugin from Shan Khan is the way to go. It has round about 1 million installs!
Only dependency - you need a GitHub account to host your configs. That is what held me back at first - but it should be not that much of a problem to get one for everyone in the team and connect it to like a company-github-account.
Copy the files settings.json and keybindings.json to your target machine(s) to copy the settings. You can find those files here:
Win: ~\AppData\Roaming\Code\User
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/
Linux: ~/.config/Code/User
You can copy extentions from ~/.vscode/extensions or C:\Users\username\.vscode\extensions from linux/mac or windows respectively.
FalcoGer's answer should explain how to copy the files in a way VS Code will pick them up. If you only need to copy the config files once, this solution would be fine.
If you need to "sync" these config files on a regular basis, I would advise to create a Git repository where all config files will be stored.
When cloning the repo to local machines, you can symlink the files to the config destinations (see FalcoGer's anwser). Then when you need to "sync", you only have to run git pull and restart VS Code to apply the changes.
For your other script-related question, you could create a CLI for this. Python would be the most friendly way to do this. You can find an example here.
I am able to build my application on Visual Studio without any problem. I am trying Jenkins out on the same machine. When I try to build my application from my git remote repository (It contains the .pfx file in the SVC) I get the error
error MSB3325: Cannot import the following key file: Key.pfx. The key
file may be password protected. To correct this, try to import the
certificate again or manually install the certificate to the Strong
Name CSP with the following key container name: VS_KEY...
error MSB3321: Importing key file "Key.pfx" was canceled.
I had already run the command shown on the answer of this question Cannot import the keyfile 'blah.pfx' - error 'The keyfile may be password protected' and that is the reason my application runs in Visual Studio (I've done it through the command prompt as administrator fyi), which means when I try running it again the object already exists and if I uninstall and reinstall the same problem happens again.
Anyone has any ideas of how I can solve this problem?
Its the IIDentity (the windows account/identity) that is running Jenkins, most likely.
As a quick test, edit the Jenkins service and put in your credentials.
..
If that works, either keep it that way, or do your manual import voodoo using the identity that you want Jenkins to run under.
I installed Neo4j as instructed in the site and was able to install and stat server. However I tried to copy the Beer example DB by stopping the server and deleting the current graph.db in the \data folder and replaced with the one Beer example downloaded from online (graph.db folder). This is the only step I did.
Now the issue is, when i tried to start the Server I get "StartService FAILED 1053"
I am using following command on the powershell in windows - c:\neo4j-community-2.0.0-M03> .\bat\Neo4j.bat start
Can someone please help if I have done anything wrong here.
Thank you!
You are running neo4j 2.0 against an older database file. You'll need to set the config parameter to allow the store to be upgraded before starting. See instructions here:
