How to increase series data label in highcharts packed bubble - highcharts

Using the sample provided by highcharts (less some data for easier visability) https://jsfiddle.net/mevbg82z/2/
I'm trying to make the bubble labels ('USA', 'Canada', 'Mexico', 'Brazil') bigger.
I've looked at the series API for packedbubble but haven't found a way to increase the size of the text in the bubbles through options https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/series.packedbubble
The only way I've found to do this is to write css, which doesn't handle scaling, doesn't center up, and generally seems hacky...
.highcharts-data-label text tspan {
font-size: 24px
}
Whats the correct way to increase the size of these labels?

Looks like you can set fontSize inside plotOptions.packedbubble.dataLabels
plotOptions: {
packedbubble: {
minSize: '20%',
maxSize: '100%',
zMin: 0,
zMax: 1000,
layoutAlgorithm: {
gravitationalConstant: 0.05,
splitSeries: true,
seriesInteraction: false,
dragBetweenSeries: true,
parentNodeLimit: true
},
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
format: '{point.name}',
filter: {
property: 'y',
operator: '>',
value: 250
},
style: {
color: 'black',
textOutline: 'none',
fontWeight: 'normal',
fontSize: '24px'
}
}
}
},

Highcharts map bubble outline not displayed correctly

I built a map bubble with Highmaps. See fiddle
series: {
type: 'mapbubble',
name: 'Infizierte',
zIndex: 10,
color: '#b30012',
minSize: '1',
maxSize: '12%',
crop: false,
states: {
inactive: {
opacity: 1
}
},
marker: {
fillOpacity: 0.1
}
}
The bubbles sometimes are not displayed correctly:
The outline is interrupted at the bottom. When I zoom in the gap is closed. Sometimes the mistake does not appear, sometimes it does. Does someone know why?

Highcharts heatmap chart labels render extremely slow

I'm using Highcharts to generate a heatmap grid with around 10k grid cells. The heatmap renders in under a second without dataLabels. However if I enable dataLabels, which are necessary for my project, the same heatmap takes 10 seconds to render. I tried setting useHTML to true, and that renders in 30+ seconds. I'm not doing any work within the dataLabel rendering. Is there any way to speed this up?
The example with 10k cells in the heatmap with enabled data labels is here.
Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
type: 'heatmap'
},
xAxis: {
min: 0,
max: 99
},
series: [{
data: data,
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}]
});
No-opt rendering time: 33.5 s
From the profiler I can say thet there are two good candidates for optimization.
Rendering with overlapping labels: 10.4 s
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
allowOverlap: true
}
No textOutline: 8.56 s
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
allowOverlap: true,
shadow: false,
style: {
textOutline: null,
color: 'black'
}
},
The other candidate is about setting zIndex for the data labels, I cannot see how to optimize it without changing internal Highcharts method responsible for drawing data labels. You can wrap drawDataLabels method and remove the part for setting label's zIndex.
Without zIndex: 1.62 s
attr = {
//align: align,
fill: options.backgroundColor,
stroke: options.borderColor,
'stroke-width': options.borderWidth,
r: options.borderRadius || 0,
rotation: rotation,
padding: options.padding
// zIndex: 1 /* commenting this part gives a few good seconds */
};
full example: http://jsfiddle.net/dddqrb9f/1/
I commented only one line in the function but you can remove additional features if you don't need them - e.g. if you don't need labels, you can render text only.
if (!dataLabel) {
dataLabel = point.dataLabel = renderer['text']
Text instead of labels: 0.864 s

Closely-spaced datalabels are hidden

Some datalabels in my barchart aren't shown: Only one datalabel is shown at the categories "Wohnung Zustand", "Wohnumfeld" and "Wohn- und Nebenkosten".
My current solution is to chose a smaller font-size
dataLabels: {
style: {
fontSize: '7pt',
fontFamily: '"Tahoma"',
fontWeight: 'normal'
}
but now the label is hard to read. I'd like to have a bigger font-size and overlapping labels, but my overflow and crop-settings don't work.
There is an allowOverlap-setting: the chart with overlapping datalabels..
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
allowOverlap: true,
}

Highcharts Single Data Label in middle of Area

This should be easy, I don't know why its not!
Trying to add a single label to for each of the series in the middle of the area.
So instead of a data label on each point, I just want one in the middle.
http://jsfiddle.net/CgAj2/
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
align: 'center',
verticalAlign: 'bottom',
formatter: function() {return this.series.name; },
}
Any anyone help with this? I am sure its possible by manually adding as positioning labels, but this seems like a work around.
Thanks!
Not only for the entire series, you can have labels enabled for individual points also,
plotOptions:{
arearspline:{
datalabels: {
enabled: false
}
}
}
in series data:
data: [37707.0, 37031.0, {
y: 37037.0,
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
formatter: function () {
return this.series.name;
}
}
},
37748.0,
39672.0,
41747.0],
updated your fiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/CgAj2/1/
hope this will help you

Highcharts - Data label cut off

I took a sample jsfiddle and modified it here just to show a sample of what I experienced:
http://jsfiddle.net/pMwuv/
Here is what my actual datalabel code looks like:
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
align: 'left',
verticalAlign: 'top',
style: {
color: 'black'
},
formatter: function () {
if (this.x == 19) {
return this.y + '<br>units left';
};
}
}
What I am having on my area chart is that the last data label is cut off. Is there a way to increase the width of the container or add some type of padding so that the full label shows?
Just changing the x and y position of the label will not work for my area chart. I have my chart customized so that only the last point of the chart has a data label and i want it aligned to the right of the last point and not within the chart.
But if we can get the above sample fiddle to work then the same solution should work for me.
You can add marginRight to chart like this:
chart: {
renderTo: container,
width: 550,
marginRight: 35
}
jsFiddle.
This is not a direct solution, but I suggest you to put the label at the yAxis:
yAxis: {
title: {
text: 'Units left'
}
},
And remove the other attributes, leaving just enabled: true:
plotOptions: {
series: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}
},
See the fiddle
You can set spacingRight and add correct value.
