I have just started using the Angular Material theme within my Angular app.
I make use of some radio buttons but want to style them so that they are smaller than usual. I can style the text labels but I am struggling to style the actual buttons themselves (the circles).
So for now, I have
<mat-radio-group class="smallRadio">
<mat-radio-button value="1">Option 1</mat-radio-button>
<mat-radio-button value="2">Option 2</mat-radio-button>
</mat-radio-group>
How should I go about that?
Try this,
Default radius is 20px we are setting it to 10px here
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-container{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-outer-circle{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-inner-circle{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-button .mat-radio-ripple{
height: 20px; /*double of your required circle radius*/
width: 20px; /*double of your required circle radius*/
left: calc(50% - 10px); /*'10px'-same as your required circle radius*/
top: calc(50% - 10px); /*'10px'-same as your required circle radius*/
}
Without using ::ng-deep
Turn off encapsulation of your component inside which you use the custom radio.
You can do this by
import {Component,ViewEncapsulation} from '#angular/core';
#Component({
selector: 'example',
templateUrl: 'example.component.html',
styleUrls: ['example.component.css'],
encapsulation : ViewEncapsulation.None,
})
export class ExampleComponent {}
Wrap the component you want to style in a custom class.So it wont affect any other radio components.
In the above question its already wrapped with smallRadio class
.smallRadio .mat-radio-container{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-outer-circle{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-inner-circle{
height: 10px;
width: 10px;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-button .mat-radio-ripple{
height: 20px;
width: 20px;
left: calc(50% - 10px);
top: calc(50% - 10px);
}
You can add these css in global stylesheet without turning off view encapsulation. But more elegant method is the above one
Please do not use ViewEncapsulation.None in your project. In future it will lead to unpredictable behavior. When you change styles inside one component some other components can be changed as well and it will be difficult to find which ones.
If you want to override styles of angular material I suggest creating a separate *.scss in your project with the name like "material-overrides.scss" where you will put all style changes for different components.
For example, your file can look like this
example-component {
.smallRadio .mat-radio-container{
height: 10px !important;
width: 10px !important;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-outer-circle{
height: 10px !important;
width: 10px !important;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-inner-circle{
height: 10px !important;
width: 10px !important;
}
.smallRadio .mat-radio-button .mat-radio-ripple{
height: 20px !important;
width: 20px !important;
left: calc(50% - 10px) !important;
top: calc(50% - 10px) !important;
}
}
Please pay attention to !important in my example. It's also not a good practice. You need to replace it with more precise specifity MDN web docs.
Please also do not forget to add your created material-overrides.scss file to styles.scss like that:
#import './material-overrides.scss';
You can also read recommendations for overrides from angular material team - link.
I think, this should be enough:
.mat-radio-container {
transform: scale(0.85);
}
Choose the number in the scale according to your needs.
Try this:
I've got it working with a tick, changing css
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-outer-circle{
border-radius:2px;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-inner-circle{
border-radius:2px;
background-color: transparent!important;
border-bottom: 4px solid white;
border-right:4px solid white;
height:30px;
width:15px;
margin-top: -8px;
margin-left: 3px;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-checked .mat-radio-outer-circle{
background:#ff4081!important;
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-checked .mat-radio-inner-circle{
transform: rotate(45deg) scale(0.5);
}
:host ::ng-deep .mat-radio-button .mat-radio-ripple{
height: 20px; /*double of your required circle radius*/
width: 20px; /*double of your required circle radius*/
left: calc(50% - 10px); /*'10px'-same as your required circle radius*/
top: calc(50% - 10px); /*'10px'-same as your required circle radius */
}

I have an issue here with 0clue what is going on. I am currently developing an application using ionic angular. The preview on the web version is totally fine and looks good reference image.
But when I deploy it into iOS the button shape is off and there is a white structure blocking part of the header reference image.
I am new to the app developing world, please bear with my stupidity on this.
Can someone guide me in the right direction, please?

I wark on my Mobile project and I use jquery mobile library version 1.4.5.
I have this png image:
Here is the CSS:
.ui-icon-measure {
background-image: url(img/length_measure.png);
}
#measureControl {
position: absolute;
left: 10px;
top: 3em;
width: 40px;
z-index: 9999;
}
#measureButton .ui-icon {
width: 30px;
height: 30px;
top: 13px;
right: 13px;
background-color: transparent;
background-position: center;
}
Here is HTML code:
<div id="measureControl" data-role="controlgroup" data-type="vertical">
</div>
Here how it looks in the view:
But I want it to be like that:
Any idea what do I have to change in the code above to get desired view?
The code below will produce this:
.ui-icon-measure:after {
background: url(img/length_measure.png) no-repeat !important;
}
#measureControl a {
padding: 20px;
}
#measureControl {
position: absolute;
left: 10px;
top: 3em;
width: 40px;
z-index: 9999;
border-radius: 13px;
}
On my site, I have a few footer links that are showing the wrong border color for iOS devices when the link is visited. This is happening on Chrome and Safari for iOS.

iOS
I searched through my code and I am not setting this style anywhere.
I have tried reproducing this in a fiddle/codepen, but since they don't let you redirect, I can't see what the a:visited looks like for mobile.
Code
.productsalessection {
width: 34%;
padding-top: 10px;
padding-right: 1%;
padding-bottom: 10px;
float: left;
font-family: Lato, sans-serif;
}
.productsalesbox {
width: 100%;
padding: 14px 12px;
float: left;
border-right: 1px solid #e2e2e2;
}
.productsalesbadge {
width: 80px;
height: 100%;
margin-right: 6px;
float: left;
border: 1px solid #ddd;
border-radius: 4px;
background-color: white;
}
img {
max-width: 100%;
vertical-align: middle;
display: inline-block;
}
.productsalesheading {
margin-top: 3px;
color: #444;
font-size: 16px;
font-weight: 400;
text-transform: uppercase;
}
.productsalestext {
font-size: 12px;
line-height: 14px;
color: #777;
}
<a class="w-clearfix productsalessection" target="_blank" href="http://www.google.com">
<div class="w-clearfix productsalesbox">
<div class="productsalesbadge"><img src="http://www.chicmarket.com/images/SJ.svg">
</div>
<div class="productsalesheading">Trusted</div>
<div class="productsalestext">We proudly maintain a strong relationship with our customers.</div>
</div>
</a>
Changing the color of the a:visited works.
a:visited {
color: #C8C8C8;
}
But this solution is not ideal because this will mess with other a tags on my site.
I have also tried.
a:visited {
color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.0);
}
But instead of making the color transparent, it just makes the border black.
I don't normally post links to external sites, but if you would like to take a look and see the problem for yourself, you can check it out here.
Is there a simple fix for this that doesn't require me to set the a:visited color for each a tag that I have?
Looks like this was only happening to borders of divs inside of <a> tags on mobile. In order to fix this I had to not only set color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.0); for a:visited, but I had to select the specific div that had the border.
a:visited .productsalesbadge {
color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.0);
}
This completely removed the purple visited border I was seeing on mobile.

i'm creating my first web site and it's going great, looks good, and works properly. The problem i have is that i just uploaded the files to the web hosting to see how is it looking across different devices, looks great on my Smart TV, on my Android phone, on the MacBook, BUT on the iPhone and the iPad everything looks bad.
The slider is no longer overflowing, the widht is not working, even the menu buton is gone and the nav is always showing, please i need some help with this, is there some code to add so this can work on IOs movile devices?
I been looking the internet for hours trying to find the solution, i found something that includes this code:
-webkit-appearance: none;
But nothing happens everything looks bad.Thanks in advance.
You are using CSS properties that need to be prefixed in order to work in -webkit browsers, even in newer versions, such as display:flex, justify-content, transition, flex-direction,...
The practical solution is to write normal (up to date) CSS and than run it through a tool that will add the necessary prefixes for making it compatible with most browsers. It's called auto-prefixing and you can read more about it here. Good auto-prefixing tools are connected to caniuse and can be configured for various specific needs (prefix for last three versions from each browser, or prefix for all browsers with an above X usage percentage, or combinations between the two).
Here are the auto-prefixed versions of your project's CSS files. Replace assets/css/header.css with:
*{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
-webkit-appearance: none;
}
header{
z-index: 1000;
position: fixed;
width: 100%;
font-family: "roboto";
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7);
}
#btn-menu{
display: none;
}
header label{
display: none;
height: 30px;
width: 30px;
padding: 10px;
}
header label:hover{
cursor: pointer;
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);
}
.menu ul{
margin: 0;
list-style: none;
padding: 0;
display: -webkit-box;
display: -webkit-flex;
display: -ms-flexbox;
display: flex;
-webkit-box-pack: end;
-webkit-justify-content: flex-end;
-ms-flex-pack: end;
justify-content: flex-end;
}
.menu li:hover{
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);
}
.menu li a{
display: block;
padding: 20px 20px 10px 20px;
color: #fff;
text-decoration: none;
}
#media (max-width: 768px) {
header label {
height: 60px;
width: 60px;
padding: 10px;
display: block;
}
.menu{
position: absolute;
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7);
width: 30%;
margin-left: -30%;
-webkit-transition: all 0.3s;
transition: all 0.3s;
}
.menu ul{
-webkit-box-orient: vertical;
-webkit-box-direction: normal;
-webkit-flex-direction: column;
-ms-flex-direction: column;
flex-direction: column;
}
#btn-menu:checked ~ .menu{
margin: 0;
}
}
And assets/css/body.css with:
*{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
box-sizing: border-box;
-webkit-appearance: none;
}
body{
z-index: 500;
position: relative;
}
#logo{
padding-top: 50px;
position: absolute;
left: 50%;
top: 50%;
-webkit-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
}
#logo-image{
width: 100%;
max-width: 650px;
}
#containerslider{
padding-top: 59px;
position: relative;
margin: auto;
width: 100%;
max-width: 1920px;
overflow: hidden;
}
.slider{
text-align: center;
display: -webkit-box;
display: -webkit-flex;
display: -ms-flexbox;
display: flex;
width: 400%;
}
.slider .section{
display: block;
height:100%;
width: 100%;
}
.slider img{
display: block;
height: 100%;
width: 100%;

.btn-prev:hover, .btn-next:hover{

I want scrollbars to be always visible in IOS. The quick solution is the "::-webkit-scrollbar" fix. However when using "webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch" for the "slide feeling", the scrollbars are not visible anymore.
How can I get them both working?
See the example http://jsfiddle.net/gatb4ct6/5/:
.frame {
overflow-y: auto;
border: 1px solid black;
height: 13em;
width: 10em;
line-height: 1em;
/*-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;*/
/* uncomment above and scrollbars are not visible on IOS */
}
::-webkit-scrollbar {
-webkit-appearance: none;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar:vertical {
width: 11px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar:horizontal {
height: 11px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb {
border-radius: 8px;
border: 2px solid white; /* should match background, can't be transparent */
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, .5);
}
I was searching for the same problem. It appears that you can use just one of the two options. Scroll auto but with styled scrollbar or fluid scroll but with invisible and not styled scrollbar.
.frame {
overflow-y: auto;
border: 1px solid black;
height: 13em;
width: 10em;
line-height: 1em;
-webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar {
-webkit-appearance: none;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar:vertical {
width: 11px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar:horizontal {
height: 11px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb {
border-radius: 8px;
border: 2px solid white; /* should match background, can't be transparent */
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, .5);
}
Or use the -webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch; and none of the pseudo classes after.
