I am writing an Api and I need to do documentation using swagger. I am using spring boot 1.3.5 because application server is old and has java 6 configured cannot upgrade to 8 as of now. Can we use springfox swagger with java 6?
In the current version of Springfox is specified jdkVersion = 1.8, so you are out of luck. But slightly older versions like 1.0.1, should be compatible. Look at the values for sourceCompatibility and targetCompatibility

What version of java supports latest version of Log4j2 2.13.1. Our application is using Java 8. From the official website I have got information for 2.12.1 mentioned as below but not for 2.13.1. Please let me know java 8 supports 2.13.1 version of Log4j2
Log4j 2.12.1 was the last 2.x release to support Java 7. Those artifacts can be found at:
This is the link: https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/download.html
Log4j 2.3 was the last version to support Java 6 (and higher)
Log4j 2.12.1 was the last version to support Java 7 (and higher)
Log4j 2.13.0 and newer releases require a minimum of Java 8.
Log4j 3.0.0 is still in development and currently also requires a minimum of Java 8 but may end up requiring a minimum of Java 11.
This information is available on the Log4j 2 home page in the Requirements paragraph.
I am looking to upgrade Grails from 1.3.7.
Which version of grails is compatible with Java8?
What versions of hibernate and tomcat plugins to be used?
Which version of grails is compatible with Java8?
Grails 2.5.x is the first version of Grails for which we officially support Java 8.
What versions of hibernate and tomcat plugins to be used?
Your options there will depend on which version of Grails you decide to use. If you are using Grails 2.5.6 then I would suggest :tomcat:7.0.70 and either :hibernate4:4.3.10 or :hibernate:3.6.10.18. With Grails 3 you have a wider array of options.
Which version of grails is compatible with Java8?
I upgraded to 2.3.10 with JDK 1.8 successfully in two steps.
I first tried to upgrade it to version 2.0.5 from 1.3.7. (Note earlier vesions of grails support upgrade command which helps to upgrade few things automatically).
Remember there will be some changes in Application
AppplicationContext.xml will have some changes.
The class org.codehaus.groovy.grails.commons.ConfigurationHolder is deprecated. Use below code
def config = Holders.config
In second step I migrated from version 2.0.5 to 2.3.10
What versions of hibernate and tomcat plugins to be used?
runtime ':hibernate:3.6.10.16' // ':hibernate4:4.3.5.4' for Hibernate 4
build ':tomcat:7.0.54'
Anyone know if I write a Grails plugin using Grails 2.2.1 (which uses Groovy 2.0) and use some Groovy 2.0 features e.g. #TypeChecked and if a Grails project that is using an earlier version of Grails and an earlier version Groovy use this plugin?
the plugins and groovy versions of course are not backward-compatible in terms of new features. you shall prepare a backward-compatible version of your plugin by removing groovy 2.x features out of it
On the Grails Plugin Site (http://www.grails.org/plugins/), every plugin lists the versions of Grails that it is compatible with; something like Grails version : 1.2 > *.
Does this mean that the plugin is compatible with all versions of Grails starting with 1.2 or up to 1.2?
Yes, it means that version is supported for mentioned and above versions. But do read that whether the plugin is deprecated or not. For that you need to go to plugin and then see the details at the bottom.
For example, Cloud Foundary is depreciated but it is still listed on Grails plugin page.

I'm using IBM WebSphere 7.0 with MyFaces 2.0.7 installed as shared library.
Because there are issues with PrimeFaces (for example, p:messages autoUpdate not working) I'm considering the upgrade to newer version (which is not trivial, because this must be the team decision in corporation).
So, my question is, which is the newest version of MyFaces that will work with IBM WebSphere 7.0? The newest version is for now 2.1.10, but according to the answer to the question Can JSF 2.0 be used with Websphere application server version 7.x MyFaces versions starting from 2.1 will not work with WebSphere 7.0.
Have someone managed to run version 2.1.x? If so, which version, and was something additional to do? As I said, I've successfully configured shared library, similar to solution from article like that: http://wasbehindtheglass.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/myfaces-20-and-websphere-application.html
The MyFaces Core 2.1.10 works well with IBM WebSphere 7.0.
Release notes can be found at MyFaces Core 2.1.10.
