I'm using old VB6 code that seems to work perfectly fine on a Win7 desktop. At some point the code is using the Printer object doing things like this...
Printer.font.Bold = True
Printer.CurrentX = xpos
Printer.CurrentY = ypos
Printer.Print LinesToPrintArr(LineNum, i)
The pages are printing duplex and binding on long edge (top) so that you flip the pages up while being bound on the long edge. Everything is printed landscape. On Windows 7 this works without any issues. However recently we started using OSs such as Windows Server 2012R2 or later. For some reason, the first page is perfect and the second page (on the back of the first) is printed upside down.
Note: The application built is actually calling a COM object to do the
printing, so making the app (that is running on a win10 machine) run
in compatibility mode (win7) while calling a COM object on the server
(2016) I don't think would help any.

Does anyone know why this is happening on a new server OS (like server 2016) and not on Windows 7? Is there a control or other support file I might be able to downgrade that Win7 uses to make this function the correct way? I'm guessing this has to do with the vb6 printer object used inside vb6.

I'm using Apache Guacamole 1.2.0 and XRDP 0.9.12 on Ubuntu 20.04.
When looking at the remote desktop the fonts are shown sometimes reasonably sharp (alas still less than when opening an RDP connection directly), but often become blurry/blocky, as shown in the following screenshot.
It's possible to "provoke" this by letting the browser window loosing the input focus. But it also happens while working on the remote desktop. By triggerings repaints (e.g. by going with the mouse over the text) the fonts become sharp again at the repainted screen regions while staying blurry at the other screen regions.
The RDP connection settings in Guacamole are configured like this:
I played a bit with the font smoothing and caching options, but could not improve the situation.
Is there any way to keep the fonts from "going blurry"?

I reinstalled with compiled versions xrdp 0.9.14 and xorgxrdp 0.2.14 - I had to do this anyway, because file sharing does not work between Guacamole and xrdp 0.9.12.
As a "side effect", the blocky/blurry appearance is gone now, too.
Either it has been fixed with the newer version or my old installation was somehow faulty.
Today I started to write my first web application and I can't pass one step.
Everything works almost fine... I can connect to the server and open website. Problem is when I open browser and type the same address on the second pc, then I get te same data as on the first one.
Detailed...
Application has two forms, first is for login, and second one is for receiving data.
When I login on the first pc and second form shows up, and then I open browser and put the address of the server on the second pc, I see the second form after login from first pc.
What I should do in this case? I tried to find the solution in the net, but I couldn't :(
If you are using any Delphi IDE after XE3 (including) and using the IntraWeb edition that comes with Delphi you must upgrade in order to have it working correctly. It is free, and more information can be obtained here:

There is a demo named Features that shows you exactly how to create a multi form application. To be honest, I work with IntraWeb for a long time and I've never seen that. Unless you are using some global var to hold your "current" active form. Have in mind that IntraWeb is a fully multithreaded application and global vars should not be used, unless you have some mechanism protecting concurrent access (but you should get rid of them and use ServerController properties instead).

I work with Delphi from some time, but I never used Intraweb, I worked with ComPort and IP works for I/O devices. I have XE7 and I upgraded Intraweb to 14.0.52.

Is there a way to view the iphone console logs without having a mac ?
It used to be possible using the iPhone Configuration Utility but it does not seem to be available any longer.
I saw a tool called iTools but it seems to require a 32bit version of itunes which is also not available any more.
Given an iPhone device + windows + linux, Is there any workaround / tool to view the iphone console logs?

I ran into this very same issue over and over, and got fed up with it, so I decided to have a go at writing a script that displays console messages in HTML, so you can just view everything in the webpage itself, without having to resort to a console-replacement or a tedious remote debugger (for which you, indeed, require a Mac), without having to modify each console call in existing code.
The key lies in 'replacing' the four main functions in window.console: log, warn, error and trace. This is done by redifining each method, adding own code to that, and calling the original method in the end. I dubbed it 'MobileConsole'. It is quite unobtrusive and will 'catch' all console.log (or .warn, .error or .trace) events, and even bind to window.onerror.

We use SATO CL412e printers to print labels (3x7), with the label coming from a local SSRS report. Until recently, this setup worked without issue. A few months ago we modified the label, and implemented (new implementation) at one site (Site A). Then a few weeks ago, we pushed the change out to another site (Site B) that had previously been using this label (old version). Since we did this, the label at Site B is... weird.
The barcode is quite clearly not right, and all the normal characters are squished together, and perhaps bolded. Theoretically, we have proved that it is not the application (which recently changed as well) or the label report because it works fine at Site A, as well as from a different printer (same model, same drivers, etc.) at Site B.
Yesterday the drivers at Site B were updated to match Site A, which resulted in no change. This morning we found a few settings in the web interface that were different. I have not heard yet, but I seriously doubt it will have an effect.
What am I missing? To date, this exactly configuration works on three printers, and fails on one. I am at a complete loss as to what to check next. What could possibly cause this behavior?

It has been discovered that this happens only through RDP. When we use a Citrix connection to the same server, we have no problem. It has been suggested that maybe this is a problem with the Internet Explorer settings. Any basis to this, and what settings?
RDP has a feature which connects your local printers to the remote server. This can mean the printer you get when connected with RDP is different than the printer when you are locally working on that server, or using Citrix. It's possible your local workstation has the same printer defined with different settings.
In your RDP connection dialog, click "Settings" and click the "Local resources" tab. Then clear the "Printers" checkbox to prevent this behavior.
I have created a Delphi Service which prints TQuickReports. Everything works fine if compiled and run as a Windows Application. But when converted to operate as a service trying to create a form containing a TQuickRep component throws the exception.
This service runs fine on many other boxes but not this one in particular. Here are some details:
Using QuickReport version 4.07
Box is a Windows Server 2008 operating system.
Using Delphi 2007
Printer.Printers.Count is returning a positive value. In fact I can list out all of the printers.
I have tried running the service both using Local System Account and Logged on as an Admin.
Is there a default printer set up in session 0? Remember that under Vista / Server 2008 / Windows 7, services run in a separate session. Whether or not the logged-in user has a default printer set is not relevant - it's a per-session setting and doesn't affect session 0.
Can you rewrite the code to gracefully handle that exception and pick a printer to use?
You can solve this problem by creating a new dword UserSelectedDefault with the value: 1 in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\SessionDefaultDevices\Session_ID
Make sure you have a local printer selected.
You might give the user a way to select the printer for the service. The Windows service probably does not have a default printer set.
Set TQuickRep.PrinterSettings.PrinterIndex to set the printer number. Then, TQuickRep.Print to print the report.
A colleague ended up finding the solution. I should have added these are "network" printers and not Local printers (at the time I didn't think this was related to the problem). So the service needed to be installed with "NetworkService" as the user account under the logon tab. From the Windows Help:
To specify that the service uses the Network Service account, click This account, and
then type NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService
We had a simular problem here. Using TS servers, Citrix and Powerfuse 9.
Powerfuse had all printers capitalized, however they were shared in a mixed case.
This combination caused Delphi/QReport to crash
When all printers are from printserver to powerfuse in the same case (not important upper or lower or even mixed), the problem was gone
Actually it is a Delphi(5) problem. The comparison of the available printers and the default printer is case sensitive (Printers.pas):

If using terminal services 2008, same user for multiple sessions, you should look into the:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\SessionDefaultDevices\Session_ID
instead of
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\
I solved a similar problem: If a Delphi application (or service) uses QuickReport, it runs before the system loads the default printer (or printers).
When QuickReport executes TQRPrinter.Init, the printer.printers.count is zero,
shortly after the system loads, the printer.printers.count is the number of printers,
but tqrprinter.int has already executed, so TQRPrinter.FPrinterOK is false,
you then see this error when you try open a QuickReport.
The solution for me was wait until the printers were loaded before launching the application (in citrix and terminal server). I solved this in two ways, either by overwriting tqrprinter or delay the dpr.
