I'm currently developing wiki pages in TFS 2018 via Markdown. But as far as I know, there appears to be no way to create a link on a wiki page that opens within a new tab. All links created open in the existing tab. I read through the wiki documentation. I also reported it to be an official feature. But does anyone have any tricks or hacks I could implement in order to get that going for now?
Update
: I have tried basic html such as:
Google Link
But when I click save and view that link in Chrome Developer Tools, TFS 2018 is stripping out the target="_blank". Any possible reasons why TFS would do this?
Many thanks!
I tried now in Azure DevOps and it opens a new tab:
[Google](https://www.google.com)
Update:
It works only in Azure DevOps and not in TFS 2018.

I'm creating new User Story (WIT), I have installes tool: Process Editor under VS2018, connected to the project and exported WIT ( User Story ) then i have made some changes. While using previe window under VS2019 i see that changes has been made:
But while using Web portal i can't see my changes, there is only default Agile User Story view:
I have found information what could be the problem ( Enable the new form found on M$): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/reference/manage-new-form-rollout?view=tfs-2017&viewFallbackFrom=azure-devops
I've checked all permissions and groups I'm in, inclding Administrator groups, for projects, whole collection ext. On the M$ web site is information that i should click "Enable the new work item form" to be able to use customization i did. But i don't have this option :( :
Can you please tell me what Am I doing wrong ? What have I missed ?
TFS2018 installed on premise.
Thanks.
Please take a look at this ticket: TFS work items opened inside Visual Study no longer open in the web browser, they always open in the Visual Studio editor
According to the response from MSFT:
We have re-design the default landing page for work items in Visual
Studio 2019 which only works with server >= 2019. If server is <
2019, work items will be open in Visual Studio only.
Since you are using TFS 2018 with VS2019, you may have to open work item in web portal from browser directly right now.
But work item in Visual Studio IDE is still using the old Layout forms. Work item in Web Portal is using the new layout. That's why you have seen different behavior.
The using of the new work item form is already updated in your server. On VS you see the old style but on web you have the new style. On the Process editor download page you can find the following:
Process Template: Open and edit a process template (you can only edit
the old-style work item forms, those that don’t reflect the new web
layout)
To update the new form check this page: New web form layout-WebLayout and Control elements
We use TFS primarily for documentation etc. Therefore, we have a workflow of managing the files in Visual Studio (Express) 2015 (e.g. check in) and then sending the web links (extracted from the web portal) per email for others to read.
There is a link to the web portal in the home view of the Team Explorer of Visual Studio (Express) 2015, but it takes us to a front page of the web portal and we have to navigate through the path once again.
Thus my question: Is there a way to directly open the TFS web portal from Visual Studio (Express) 2015 with the same path that is selected in Visual Studio? Or is there no alternative to navigating twice through the paths every time? I have consulted the TFS documentation, but I haven't found anything helpful yet.
I would appreciate any kind of help provided.
There is no this function for now. You may have to write a custom VS extension to achieve this or ask a feature request in UserVoice, TFS Admin will kindly review it.
I have been tasked with creating a custom planning view from TFS.
I have a reasonable amount of experience with the TFS Api but I want to try and avoid having to create and maintain a new application for this.
I have looked at SSRS for TFS but I am unable to access all of the data I need (tags etc.) so this is not an option (as it will invalidate support).
I would ideally like to create a "widget" to appear on one of the TFS dashboards but am not sure where to start. The widget would also need to allow access to the TFS api to gather the data it needs to generate.
Please can someone advise where I may look to start or an alternative approach.
You may want to take a look at http://integrate.visualstudio.com where you can find documentation for the TFS API. The REST API works for TFS 2015 and above.
While you can extend the web interface with Extensions (https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/) in Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS), this feature is not yet available in TFS on-premises as of TFS 2015 Update 1.
You can check the published feature timeline for updates, but at this time extensions for TFS are marked as "TBD".
If you're working with TFS2013 + Update2 or a higher version of TFS, it is allowed for Team Administrators to customize TFS dashboard via pinning items to the homepage without writing any code.
For example, if you would like to add a chart into the dashboard, you just need to go to the query’s Charts page and pin it to the home page. See the following image (quoted from this MSDN article)
I am looking for an example or link to resources that would explain how to add a new work item to TFS 2012 from an external app. I have read that TFS 2012 has web services that allow third-party apps to interface with it. I have been researching how to add a new work item and I have not found any examples about how to do this.
Have a look at Shai's blog, he has tutorials on how to do pretty much anything with the TFS API.
This post goes through creating work items.
Is there anyway to automatically paste screenshots into TFS 2010 Web access for bugs? I don't want to have to save the screenshots into files and then add them as an attachment. This takes a while to do this. I just want to quickly add them to the bug.
I don't think you can.
See this similar (possibly not identical) question on MSDN forums:

In response to:
Now, when adding the task into TFS 2010 , I can use the cupboard to “copy/Paste” from OneNote to TFS. But then the image is stored as a link to my local machine and not stored in TFS server.
The answer was (repeatedly stated):
As I said in my previous reply, we should to add the images as attachment into Work Items. Open Work Item in VS, click Attachments tab, then click Add to browse your images, the images will store in TFS Server.
Or, DIY and write an application
TFS exposes an API that you could use to create your own tool, rather than using their web access. See this question for how to implement that particular piece (adding attachments):
Upload a file using TFS Client APIs
In Visual Studio 2010 you can go to the Attachments Tab and paste your screenshot using CTRL-V.
An attachment called 'screenshot.png' will automatically be created.
