Call Swift function in Objective C - ios

I have a problem to use a method developed in Swift that I want to use in objective C.
Swift 4 Class: in this function I retrieve the information of the user (like userNumber, secretCode)
#objc class MySwiftClass: HPTableViewController {
func loadMemberProfil(completion: ((_ sub : [String: AnyObject]) -> Void)!) {
//API get profile and Bearer token
let token = HPWSLoginManager.shared().saveSuccessResponse.token
let url = URL(string: "http://51.38.36.76:40/api/v1/profile")
var request = URLRequest(url: url!)
request.httpMethod = "GET"
request.addValue("Bearer \(token!)", forHTTPHeaderField: "Authorization")
//get information in token
URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: request) { (data, response, error) in
guard let data = data else { return }
do {
let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data, options: .mutableContainers) as! [String: AnyObject]
let sub = json["sub"] as! [String: AnyObject]
if completion != nil{
completion(sub)
}
} catch {
print("error")
}
}.resume()
}
}
for example at the end of the function I get
sub["usernumber"]! // print +224625259239
sub["secretcode"]! // print $2a$08$DIrq1iKnjkkY4KgI3Mqy7.aWC39m2aFMncfJSkom9l0yaXhGlH35m
Objective-C implementation (Objective-C.m) I want to display this information above
#import "ProjectName-Swift.h"
MySwiftClass* userProfil = [[MySwiftClass alloc]init];
[userProfil loadMemberProfil: ^(NSDictionary *sub) { // No visible #interface for 'MySwiftClass' declares the selector 'loadMemberProfil:'
userNumber = sub[#"usernumber"];
secretCode = sub[#"secretcode"];
}];
but I get this error message No visible #interface for 'MySwiftClass' declares the selector 'loadMemberProfil:' could someone help me? please :)

You need
#objcMembers class MySwiftClass: UIViewController { --- }
OR
#objc func loadMemberProfil(completion: ((_ sub : [String: AnyObject]) -> Void)!) { --- }
With this call
[userProfil loadMemberProfilWithCompletion:^(NSDictionary*dic ) {
}];

Codable for API request

How would I make this same API request through codables?
In my app, this function is repeated in every view that makes API calls.
func getOrders() {
DispatchQueue.main.async {
let spinningHUD = MBProgressHUD.showAdded(to: self.view, animated: true)
spinningHUD.isUserInteractionEnabled = false
let returnAccessToken: String? = UserDefaults.standard.object(forKey: "accessToken") as? String
let access = returnAccessToken!
let headers = [
"postman-token": "dded3e97-77a5-5632-93b7-dec77d26ba99",
"Authorization": "JWT \(access)"
]
let request = NSMutableURLRequest(url: NSURL(string: "https://somelink.com")! as URL,
cachePolicy: .useProtocolCachePolicy,
timeoutInterval: 10.0)
request.httpMethod = "GET"
request.allHTTPHeaderFields = headers
let session = URLSession.shared
let dataTask = session.dataTask(with: request as URLRequest, completionHandler: { (data, response, error) -> Void in
if (error != nil) {
print(error!)
} else {
if let dataNew = data, let responseString = String(data: dataNew, encoding: .utf8) {
print("----- Orders -----")
print(responseString)
print("----------")
let dict = self.convertToDictionary(text: responseString)
print(dict?["results"] as Any)
guard let results = dict?["results"] as? NSArray else { return }
self.responseArray = (results) as! [HomeVCDataSource.JSONDictionary]
DispatchQueue.main.async {
spinningHUD.hide(animated: true)
self.tableView.reloadData()
}
}
}
})
dataTask.resume()
}
}
I would suggest to do the following
Create Base Service as below
import UIKit
import Foundation
enum MethodType: String {
case get = "GET"
case post = "POST"
case put = "PUT"
case patch = "PATCH"
case delete = "DELETE"
}
class BaseService {
var session: URLSession!
// MARK: Rebuilt Methods
func FireGenericRequest<ResponseModel: Codable>(url: String, methodType: MethodType, headers: [String: String]?, completion: #escaping ((ResponseModel?) -> Void)) {
UIApplication.shared.isNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible = true
// Request Preparation
guard let serviceUrl = URL(string: url) else {
print("Error Building URL Object")
return
}
var request = URLRequest(url: serviceUrl)
request.httpMethod = methodType.rawValue
// Header Preparation
if let header = headers {
for (key, value) in header {
request.setValue(value, forHTTPHeaderField: key)
}
}
// Firing the request
session = URLSession(configuration: URLSessionConfiguration.default)
session.dataTask(with: request) { (data, response, error) in
DispatchQueue.main.async {
UIApplication.shared.isNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible = false
}
if let data = data {
do {
guard let object = try? JSONDecoder().decode(ResponseModel.self , from: data) else {
print("Error Decoding Response Model Object")
return
}
DispatchQueue.main.async {
completion(object)
}
}
}
}.resume()
}
private func buildGenericParameterFrom<RequestModel: Codable>(model: RequestModel?) -> [String : AnyObject]? {
var object: [String : AnyObject] = [String : AnyObject]()
do {
if let dataFromObject = try? JSONEncoder().encode(model) {
object = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: dataFromObject, options: []) as! [String : AnyObject]
}
} catch (let error) {
print("\nError Encoding Parameter Model Object \n \(error.localizedDescription)\n")
}
return object
}
}
the above class you may reuse it in different scenarios adding request object to it and passing any class you would like as long as you are conforming to Coddle protocol
Create Model Conforming to Coddle protocol
class ExampleModel: Codable {
var commentId : String?
var content : String?
//if your JSON keys are different than your property name
enum CodingKeys: String, CodingKey {
case commentId = "CommentId"
case content = "Content"
}
}
Create Service to the specific model with the endpoint constants subclassing to BaseService as below
class ExampleModelService: BaseService<ExampleModel/* or [ExampleModel]*/> {
func GetExampleModelList(completion: ((ExampleModel?)/* or [ExampleModel]*/ -> Void)?) {
super.FireRequestWithURLSession(url: /* url here */, methodType: /* method type here */, headers: /* headers here */) { (responseModel) in
completion?(responseModel)
}
}
}
Usage
class MyLocationsController: UIViewController {
// MARK: Properties
// better to have in base class for the controller
var exampleModelService: ExampleModelService = ExampleModelService()
// MARK: Life Cycle Methods
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
exampleModelService.GetExampleModelList(completion: { [weak self] (response) in
// model available here
})
}
}
Basically, you need to conform Codable protocol in your model classes, for this you need to implement 2 methods, one for code your model and another for decode your model from JSON
func encode(to encoder: Encoder) throws
required convenience init(from decoder: Decoder) throws
After that you will be able to use JSONDecoder class provided by apple to decode your JSON, and return an array (if were the case) or an object of your model class.
class ExampleModel: Codable {
var commentId : String?
var content : String?
//if your JSON keys are different than your property name
enum CodingKeys: String, CodingKey {
case commentId = "CommentId"
case content = "Content"
}
}
Then using JSONDecoder you can get your model array like this
do {
var arrayOfOrders : [ExampleModel] = try JSONDecoder().decode([ExampleModel].self, from: dataNew)
}
catch {
}
First of all, I can recommend you to use this application -quicktype- for turning json file to class or struct (codable) whatever you want. enter link description here.
After that you can create a generic function to get any kind of codable class and return that as a response.
func taskHandler<T:Codable>(type: T.Type, useCache: Bool, urlRequest: URLRequest, completion: #escaping (Result<T, Error>) -> Void) {
let task = URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: urlRequest) { (data, response, error) in
if let error = error {
print("error : \(error)")
}
if let data = data {
do {
let dataDecoded = try JSONDecoder().decode(T.self, from: data)
completion(.success(dataDecoded))
// if says use cache, let's store response data to cache
if useCache {
if let response = response as? HTTPURLResponse {
self.storeDataToCache(urlResponse: response, urlRequest: urlRequest, data: data)
}
}
} catch let error {
completion(.failure(error))
}
} else {
completion(.failure(SomeError))
}
}
task.resume()
}

Implementing google translation api in swift 3 iOS

Hi i am new to iOS development and i am trying to implement google translation API within my app. I found some sample code online from GitHub https://github.com/prine/ROGoogleTranslate. I downloaded the sample code and followed the instructions provided by obtaining an api key from google cloud translate and placing it within the code however the code is not working, iv looked at the comments on the GitHub site and found that it has
worked for other developers. I really don't know what i am doing wrong in the code.
ROGoogleTranslateParams.swift
import Foundation
public struct ROGoogleTranslateParams {
public init() {
}
public init(source:String, target:String, text:String) {
self.source = source
self.target = target
self.text = text
}
public var source = "de"
public var target = "en"
public var text = "Hallo"
}
/// Offers easier access to the Google Translate API
open class ROGoogleTranslate {
/// Store here the Google Translate API Key
public var apiKey = "YOUR_API_KEY"
///
/// Initial constructor
///
public init() {
}
///
/// Translate a phrase from one language into another
///
/// - parameter params: ROGoogleTranslate Struct contains all the needed parameters to translate with the Google Translate API
/// - parameter callback: The translated string will be returned in the callback
///
open func translate(params:ROGoogleTranslateParams, callback:#escaping (_ translatedText:String) -> ()) {
guard apiKey != "" else {
print("Warning: You should set the api key before calling the translate method.")
return
}
if let urlEncodedText = params.text.addingPercentEncoding(withAllowedCharacters: .urlHostAllowed) {
if let url = URL(string: "https://translation.googleapis.com/language/translate/v2?key=\(self.apiKey)&q=\(urlEncodedText)&source=\(params.source)&target=\(params.target)&format=text") {
let httprequest = URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: url, completionHandler: { (data, response, error) in
guard error == nil else {
print("Something went wrong: \(error?.localizedDescription)")
return
}
if let httpResponse = response as? HTTPURLResponse {
guard httpResponse.statusCode == 200 else {
if let data = data {
print("Response [\(httpResponse.statusCode)] - \(data)")
}
return
}
do {
// Pyramid of optional json retrieving. I know with SwiftyJSON it would be easier, but I didn't want to add an external library
if let data = data {
if let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data, options:JSONSerialization.ReadingOptions.mutableContainers) as? NSDictionary {
if let jsonData = json["data"] as? [String : Any] {
if let translations = jsonData["translations"] as? [NSDictionary] {
if let translation = translations.first as? [String : Any] {
if let translatedText = translation["translatedText"] as? String {
callback(translatedText)
}
}
}
}
}
}
} catch {
print("Serialization failed: \(error.localizedDescription)")
}
}
})
httprequest.resume()
}
}
}
}
ViewController.swift
import UIKit
class ViewController: UIViewController {
#IBOutlet var text:UITextField!
#IBOutlet var fromLanguage:UITextField!
#IBOutlet var toLanguage:UITextField!
#IBOutlet var translation:UILabel!
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
// Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib.
}
override func didReceiveMemoryWarning() {
super.didReceiveMemoryWarning()
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#IBAction func translate(_ sender: UIButton) {
let translator = ROGoogleTranslate()
translator.apiKey = "YOUR_API_KEY" // Add your API Key here
var params = ROGoogleTranslateParams()
params.source = fromLanguage.text ?? "de"
params.target = toLanguage.text ?? "en"
params.text = text.text ?? "Hallo"
translator.translate(params: params) { (result) in
DispatchQueue.main.async {
self.translation.text = "\(result)"
}
}
}
}
These are classes are used.
The result i get when i press the 'translate' button is the following:
Response [403] - 355 bytes
your help is appreciated. The code is available to download from the url provided
Thank you
I'm the author of the library you mentioned above :). I guess you get the 403 because your Google Api Account is not yet activated correctly. Google has changed the policy of the Translation api and its not free anymore. So you problably didn't add the credit card informations in the Api account and therefor get the 403 error?
Try this "POST" method function not the 'Get' method as you implemented -
open func translateTest(params: GoogleAITranslateParams, targetLanguage: String, callback:#escaping (_ translatedText:String) -> ()) {
guard apiKey != "" else {
return
}
var request = URLRequest(url: URL(string: "https://translation.googleapis.com/language/translate/v2?key=\(self.apiKey)")!)
request.httpMethod = "POST"
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
request.addValue(Bundle.main.bundleIdentifier ?? "", forHTTPHeaderField: "X-Ios-Bundle-Identifier")
let jsonRequest = [
"q": params.text,
"source": "en",
"target": targetLanguage,
"format": "text"
] as [String : Any]
if let jsonData = try? JSONSerialization.data(withJSONObject: jsonRequest, options: .prettyPrinted) {
request.httpBody = jsonData
let task: URLSessionDataTask = URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: request) { (data, response, error) in
guard error == nil else {
print("Something went wrong: \(String(describing: error?.localizedDescription))")
return
}
if let httpResponse = response as? HTTPURLResponse {
guard httpResponse.statusCode == 200 else {
if let data = data {
print("Response [\(httpResponse.statusCode)] - \(data)")
}
return
}
do {
if let data = data {
if let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data, options:JSONSerialization.ReadingOptions.mutableContainers) as? NSDictionary {
if let jsonData = json["data"] as? [String : Any] {
if let translations = jsonData["translations"] as? [NSDictionary] {
if let translation = translations.first as? [String : Any] {
if let translatedText = translation["translatedText"] as? String {
callback(translatedText)
}
}
}
}
}
}
} catch {
print("Serialization failed: \(error.localizedDescription)")
}
}
}
task.resume()
}
}

Swift REST API call in singleton class and use of protocol

I am calling rest api using singleton class as I need to call this api from 3-4 view controllers. To pass the data, I implemented one protocol method also.
I am not sure this is the right way of passing data and use of singleton class. Could anyone please guide me in this? Please guide me if I am missing or doing wrong in the code. I appreciate your time and suggestions.
//This is my NetworkService class
protocol NetworkServicesDelegate {
// protocol method
func serviceData(arrayData:NSArray)
}
class NetworkServices:NSObject{
static let sharedInstance = NetworkServices()
var delegate: NetworkServicesDelegate?
var dataArray: NSArray?
func getData(paramValue : String,apiName:String)
{
let configURL = NSBundle.mainBundle().objectForInfoDictionaryKey("ConfigURL") as! String
guard let url = NSURL(string: configURL+"/"+apiName) else {
print("Error: cannot create URL")
return
}
let request = NSMutableURLRequest(URL:url)
let defaultSession = NSURLSession(configuration: NSURLSessionConfiguration.defaultSessionConfiguration())
request.HTTPMethod = "POST"
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
let params = ["myKey":paramValue]
let valid = NSJSONSerialization.isValidJSONObject(params)
print(valid)
request.HTTPBody = try? NSJSONSerialization.dataWithJSONObject(params, options: [])
let task = defaultSession.dataTaskWithRequest(request, completionHandler: { (data:NSData?, response:NSURLResponse?, error:NSError?) in
if let HTTPResponse = response as? NSHTTPURLResponse {
let statusCode = HTTPResponse.statusCode
if statusCode == 200 {
self.dataArray = try! NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: [] ) as! NSArray
self.serviceData(self.dataArray!)
}
}
})
task.resume()
}
private func serviceData(serviceDataArray: NSArray){
guard self.delegate != nil else {
return
}
delegate?.serviceData(serviceDataArray)
print("serviceDataArray : \(serviceDataArray)")
}
}
You can follow the following approach:
Make a static or class function and take the delegate as an additional parameter
Call the delegate function after the data is download from the api in competition handler.
And from any of the view controller call this function like this:
NetworkServices.getData("yourparam", apiName: "yourAPINAME", delegate: self)
Modified NetworkServices class code below.:
protocol NetworkServicesDelegate {
func serviceData(arrayData:NSArray)
}
class NetworkServices:NSObject{
class func getData(paramValue : String,apiName:String, delegate:NetworkServicesDelegate?)
{
let configURL = NSBundle.mainBundle().objectForInfoDictionaryKey("ConfigURL") as! String
guard let url = NSURL(string: configURL+"/"+apiName) else {
print("Error: cannot create URL")
return
}
let request = NSMutableURLRequest(URL:url)
let defaultSession = NSURLSession(configuration: NSURLSessionConfiguration.defaultSessionConfiguration())
request.HTTPMethod = "POST"
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
let params = ["myKey":paramValue]
let valid = NSJSONSerialization.isValidJSONObject(params)
print(valid)
request.HTTPBody = try? NSJSONSerialization.dataWithJSONObject(params, options: [])
let task = defaultSession.dataTaskWithRequest(request, completionHandler: { (data:NSData?, response:NSURLResponse?, error:NSError?) in
if let HTTPResponse = response as? NSHTTPURLResponse {
let statusCode = HTTPResponse.statusCode
if statusCode == 200 {
let dataArray:NSArray = try! NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: [] ) as! NSArray
delegate?.serviceData(dataArray)
}
}
})
task.resume()
}
}

Making a re-useable function of JSON URL fetching function in SWIFT 2.0

I am stuck in a problem. I think it is all due to my weak basics. I am sure someone can help me easily and put me in the right direction.
I have different segues and all get the data from JSON via remote URL.
So in-short all segues need to open URL and parse JSON and make them into an ARRAY
I have made the first segue and it is working fine.
Now i plan to use the functions where it download JSON and turns it into ARRAY as a common function
I read in another page on stackoverflow that I can declare all common functions outside the class in ViewController
I hope everyone is with me this far.
now in ViewController i declare a function
getDataFromJson(url: String)
This function code looks like following
func getJsonFromURL(url: String)
{
// some class specific tasks
// call the common function with URL
// get an array
let arrJSON = getJsonArrFromURL(url)
for element in arrJSON
{
// assign each element in json to ur table
print("Element: \(element)")
}
// some class specific tasks
}
and this will call the common function declared outside the score of class
getArrFromJson(url: String) -> NSArray
This common function is just very generic.
Take a URL, call it, open it, parse its data into ARRAY and return it back.
The problem i am stuck is where to put the return
It returns empty array as the task is not finished and i am clueless
func getJsonArrFromURL(var url: String) -> NSArray
{
var parseJSON : NSArray?
if ( url == "" )
{
url = self.baseURLHomepage
}
print("Opening a JSON URL \(url)")
let myUrl = NSURL(string: url);
let request = NSMutableURLRequest(URL:myUrl!);
request.HTTPMethod = "GET";
let postString = "";
request.HTTPBody = postString.dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding);
let task = NSURLSession.sharedSession().dataTaskWithRequest(request)
{
data, response, error in
if ( error != nil )
{
print("Error open JSON url \n\(error)")
return
}
do
{
parseJSON = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data!, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers) as? NSArray
}
catch
{
self.showAlert("Error", msg: "Error occurred while trying to process the product information data")
print("Error occured in JSON = \(error)")
}
}
task.resume()
return parseJSON!
}
You can probably add a method like below in any of your class
func post(url: String, info: String, completionHandler: (NSString?, NSError?) -> ()) -> NSURLSessionTask {
let URL = NSURL(string: url)!
let request = NSMutableURLRequest(URL:URL)
request.HTTPMethod = "GET"
let bodyData = info
request.HTTPBody = bodyData.dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding);
let task = NSURLSession.sharedSession().dataTaskWithRequest(request) { data, response, error in
dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue()) {
guard data != nil else {
print("response String is nil")
completionHandler(nil, error)
return
}
if let dataNew = data {
completionHandler(NSString(data: (NSData(base64EncodedData: dataNew, options: NSDataBase64DecodingOptions([])))!, encoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding), nil)
}
}
}
task.resume()
return task
}
and access it anywhere like
let url = "your URL String"
let info = "The data you would like to pass"
yourClassName.post(url, info: info) { responseString, error in
guard responseString != nil else {
print("response String is nil")
print(error)
return
}
do {
if !(responseString as? String)!.isEmpty {
let json = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData((responseString as! String).data, options: NSJSONReadingOptions.init(rawValue: 0))
//process your json here
}
} catch {
print("Error\n \(error)")
return
}
}
Extend your string like follows
extension String {
var data:NSData! {
return dataUsingEncoding(NSUTF8StringEncoding)
}
}

Make REST API call in Swift

I'm trying to use Swift to make a GET call to a REST API, and have tried to follow numerous tutorials, but can't figure it out. Either because I cannot figure out how to translate all the Obj-C to Swift, or because half of the methods n' such are deprecated. Does anyone know how to make the call, and parse returned JSON data?
Swift 5 & 4
let params = ["username":"john", "password":"123456"] as Dictionary<String, String>
var request = URLRequest(url: URL(string: "http://localhost:8080/api/1/login")!)
request.httpMethod = "POST"
request.httpBody = try? JSONSerialization.data(withJSONObject: params, options: [])
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
let session = URLSession.shared
let task = session.dataTask(with: request, completionHandler: { data, response, error -> Void in
print(response!)
do {
let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data!) as! Dictionary<String, AnyObject>
print(json)
} catch {
print("error")
}
})
task.resume()
You can do like this :
var url : String = "http://google.com?test=toto&test2=titi"
var request : NSMutableURLRequest = NSMutableURLRequest()
request.URL = NSURL(string: url)
request.HTTPMethod = "GET"
NSURLConnection.sendAsynchronousRequest(request, queue: NSOperationQueue(), completionHandler:{ (response:NSURLResponse!, data: NSData!, error: NSError!) -> Void in
var error: AutoreleasingUnsafeMutablePointer<NSError?> = nil
let jsonResult: NSDictionary! = NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(data, options:NSJSONReadingOptions.MutableContainers, error: error) as? NSDictionary
if (jsonResult != nil) {
// process jsonResult
} else {
// couldn't load JSON, look at error
}
})
EDIT : For people have problem with this maybe your JSON stream is an
array [] and not an object {} so you have to change jsonResult to
NSArray instead of NSDictionary
I think the NSURLSession api fits better in this situation. Because if you write swift code your project target is at least iOS 7 and iOS 7 supports NSURLSession api. Anyway here is the code
let url = "YOUR_URL"
NSURLSession.sharedSession().dataTaskWithURL(NSURL(string: url)) { data, response, error in
// Handle result
}.resume()
Here is the complete code for REST API requests using NSURLSession in swift
For GET Request
let configuration = NSURLSessionConfiguration .defaultSessionConfiguration()
let session = NSURLSession(configuration: configuration)
let urlString = NSString(format: "your URL here")
print("get wallet balance url string is \(urlString)")
//let url = NSURL(string: urlString as String)
let request : NSMutableURLRequest = NSMutableURLRequest()
request.URL = NSURL(string: NSString(format: "%#", urlString) as String)
request.HTTPMethod = "GET"
request.timeoutInterval = 30
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Accept")
let dataTask = session.dataTaskWithRequest(request) {
(let data: NSData?, let response: NSURLResponse?, let error: NSError?) -> Void in
// 1: Check HTTP Response for successful GET request
guard let httpResponse = response as? NSHTTPURLResponse, receivedData = data
else {
print("error: not a valid http response")
return
}
switch (httpResponse.statusCode)
{
case 200:
let response = NSString (data: receivedData, encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding)
print("response is \(response)")
do {
let getResponse = try NSJSONSerialization.JSONObjectWithData(receivedData, options: .AllowFragments)
EZLoadingActivity .hide()
// }
} catch {
print("error serializing JSON: \(error)")
}
break
case 400:
break
default:
print("wallet GET request got response \(httpResponse.statusCode)")
}
}
dataTask.resume()
For POST request ...
let configuration = NSURLSessionConfiguration .defaultSessionConfiguration()
let session = NSURLSession(configuration: configuration)
let params = ["username":bindings .objectForKey("username"), "provider":"walkingcoin", "securityQuestion":securityQuestionField.text!, "securityAnswer":securityAnswerField.text!] as Dictionary<String, AnyObject>
let urlString = NSString(format: “your URL”);
print("url string is \(urlString)")
let request : NSMutableURLRequest = NSMutableURLRequest()
request.URL = NSURL(string: NSString(format: "%#", urlString)as String)
request.HTTPMethod = "POST"
request.timeoutInterval = 30
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Accept")
request.HTTPBody = try! NSJSONSerialization.dataWithJSONObject(params, options: [])
let dataTask = session.dataTaskWithRequest(request)
{
(let data: NSData?, let response: NSURLResponse?, let error: NSError?) -> Void in
// 1: Check HTTP Response for successful GET request
guard let httpResponse = response as? NSHTTPURLResponse, receivedData = data
else {
print("error: not a valid http response")
return
}
switch (httpResponse.statusCode)
{
case 200:
let response = NSString (data: receivedData, encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding)
if response == "SUCCESS"
{
}
default:
print("save profile POST request got response \(httpResponse.statusCode)")
}
}
dataTask.resume()
I hope it works.
edited for swift 2
let url = NSURL(string: "http://www.test.com")
let task = NSURLSession.sharedSession().dataTaskWithURL(url!) {(data, response, error) in
print(NSString(data: data!, encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding))
}
task.resume()
Swift 4 - GET request
var request = URLRequest(url: URL(string: "http://example.com/api/v1/example")!)
request.httpMethod = "GET"
URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: request, completionHandler: { data, response, error -> Void in
do {
let jsonDecoder = JSONDecoder()
let responseModel = try jsonDecoder.decode(CustomDtoClass.self, from: data!)
print(responseModel)
} catch {
print("JSON Serialization error")
}
}).resume()
Don't forget to configure App Transport Security Settings to add your domain to the exceptions and allow insecure http requests if you're hitting endpoints without using HTTPS.
You can use a tool like http://www.json4swift.com/ to autogenerate your Codeable Mappings from your JSON responses.
In swift 3.3 and 4. I crated APIManager class with two public methods. Just pass required parameter, api name and request type. You will get response then pass it to the closure.
import UIKit
struct RequestType {
static let POST = "POST"
static let GET = "GET"
}
enum HtttpType: String {
case POST = "POST"
case GET = "GET"
}
class APIManager: NSObject {
static let sharedInstance: APIManager = {
let instance = APIManager()
return instance
}()
private init() {}
// First Method
public func requestApiWithDictParam(dictParam: Dictionary<String,Any>, apiName: String,requestType: String, isAddCookie: Bool, completionHendler:#escaping (_ response:Dictionary<String,AnyObject>?, _ error: NSError?, _ success: Bool)-> Void) {
var apiUrl = “” // Your api url
apiUrl = apiUrl.appendingFormat("%#", apiName)
let config = URLSessionConfiguration.default
let session = URLSession(configuration: config)
let url = URL(string: apiUrl)!
let HTTPHeaderField_ContentType = "Content-Type"
let ContentType_ApplicationJson = "application/json"
var request = URLRequest.init(url: url)
request.timeoutInterval = 60.0
request.cachePolicy = URLRequest.CachePolicy.reloadIgnoringLocalCacheData
request.addValue(ContentType_ApplicationJson, forHTTPHeaderField: HTTPHeaderField_ContentType)

print("API Response = ",resultJson ?? "")
completionHendler(resultJson, nil, true)

// Second Method

swift 4
USE ALAMOFIRE in our App plz install pod file
pod 'Alamofire', '~> 4.0'
We can Use API for Json Data -https://swapi.co/api/people/
Then We can create A networking class for Our project- networkingService.swift
import Foundation
import Alamofire
typealias JSON = [String:Any]
class networkingService{
static let shared = networkingService()
private init() {}
func getPeople(success successblock: #escaping (GetPeopleResponse) -> Void)
{
Alamofire.request("https://swapi.co/api/people/").responseJSON { response in
guard let json = response.result.value as? JSON else {return}
// print(json)
do {
let getPeopleResponse = try GetPeopleResponse(json: json)
successblock(getPeopleResponse)
}catch{}
}
}
func getHomeWorld(homeWorldLink:String,completion: #escaping(String) ->Void){
Alamofire.request(homeWorldLink).responseJSON {(response) in
guard let json = response.result.value as? JSON,
let name = json["name"] as? String
else{return}
completion(name)
}
}
}
Then Create NetworkingError.swift class
import Foundation
enum networkingError : Error{
case badNetworkigStuff
}
Then create Person.swift class
import Foundation
struct Person {
private let homeWorldLink : String
let birthyear : String
let gender : String
let haircolor : String
let eyecolor : String
let height : String
let mass : String
let name : String
let skincolor : String
init?(json : JSON) {
guard let birthyear = json["birth_year"] as? String,
let eyecolor = json["eye_color"] as? String,
let gender = json["gender"] as? String,
let haircolor = json["hair_color"] as? String,
let height = json["height"] as? String,
let homeWorldLink = json["homeworld"] as? String,
let mass = json["mass"] as? String,
let name = json["name"] as? String,
let skincolor = json["skin_color"] as? String
else { return nil }
self.homeWorldLink = homeWorldLink
self.birthyear = birthyear
self.gender = gender
self.haircolor = haircolor
self.eyecolor = eyecolor
self.height = height
self.mass = mass
self.name = name
self.skincolor = skincolor
}
func homeWorld(_ completion: #escaping (String) -> Void) {
networkingService.shared.getHomeWorld(homeWorldLink: homeWorldLink){ (homeWorld) in
completion(homeWorld)
}
}
}
Then create DetailVC.swift
import UIKit
class DetailVC: UIViewController {
var person :Person!
#IBOutlet var name: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var birthyear: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var homeworld: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var eyeColor: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var skinColor: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var gender: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var hairColor: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var mass: UILabel!
#IBOutlet var height: UILabel!
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
print(person)
name.text = person.name
birthyear.text = person.birthyear
eyeColor.text = person.eyecolor
gender.text = person.gender
hairColor.text = person.haircolor
mass.text = person.mass
height.text = person.height
skinColor.text = person.skincolor
person.homeWorld{(homeWorld) in
self.homeworld.text = homeWorld
}
}
}
Then Create GetPeopleResponse.swift class
import Foundation
struct GetPeopleResponse {
let people : [Person]
init(json :JSON) throws {
guard let results = json["results"] as? [JSON] else { throw networkingError.badNetworkigStuff}
let people = results.map{Person(json: $0)}.flatMap{ $0 }
self.people = people
}
}
Then Our View controller class
import UIKit
class ViewController: UIViewController {
#IBOutlet var tableVieww: UITableView!
var people = [Person]()
#IBAction func getAction(_ sender: Any)
{
print("GET")
networkingService.shared.getPeople{ response in
self.people = response.people
self.tableVieww.reloadData()
}
}
override func prepare(for segue: UIStoryboardSegue, sender: Any?)
{
guard segue.identifier == "peopleToDetails",
let detailVC = segue.destination as? DetailVC,
let person = sender as AnyObject as? Person
else {return}
detailVC.person = person
}
}
extension ViewController:UITableViewDataSource{
func numberOfSections(in tableView: UITableView) -> Int {
return 1
}
func tableView(_ tableView: UITableView, numberOfRowsInSection section: Int) -> Int {
return people.count
}
func tableView(_ tableView: UITableView, cellForRowAt indexPath: IndexPath) -> UITableViewCell {
let cell = UITableViewCell()
cell.textLabel?.text = people[indexPath.row].name
return cell
}
}
extension ViewController:UITableViewDelegate{
func tableView(_ tableView: UITableView, didSelectRowAt indexPath: IndexPath) {
performSegue(withIdentifier: "peopleToDetails", sender: people[indexPath.row])
}
}
In our StoryBoard
plz Connect with our View with another one using segue with identifier -peopleToDetails
Use UITableView In our First View
Use UIButton For get the Data
Use 9 Labels in our DetailVc
Very simple 100% working , tested
var url : String = "https://restcountries.eu/rest/v2/all"
URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: NSURL(string: url) as! URL) { data, response, error in
// Handle result
let response = String (data: data!, encoding: String.Encoding.utf8)
print("response is \(response)")
do {
let getResponse = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data!, options: .allowFragments)
print(getResponse)
let countryArray = getResponse as! NSArray
print(countryArray)
let country1 = countryArray[0] as! [String:Any]
let name = country1["name"] as! String
print(name)
} catch {
print("error serializing JSON: \(error)")
}
}.resume()
}
If you're working in Swift 3, the syntax changes. The example here worked for me and has a good explanation of the steps: https://grokswift.com/simple-rest-with-swift/
This is the code from that tutorial:
let todoEndpoint: String = "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/1"
guard let url = URL(string: todoEndpoint) else {
print("Error: cannot create URL")
return
}
let urlRequest = URLRequest(url: url)
let task = session.dataTask(with: urlRequest) {
(data, response, error) in
// check for any errors
guard error == nil else {
print("error calling GET on /todos/1")
print(error!)
return
}
// make sure we got data
guard let responseData = data else {
print("Error: did not receive data")
return
}
// parse the result as JSON, since that's what the API provides
do {
guard let todo = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: responseData, options: [])
as? [String: Any] else {
print("error trying to convert data to JSON")
return
}
// now we have the todo
// let's just print it to prove we can access it
print("The todo is: " + todo.description)
// the todo object is a dictionary
// so we just access the title using the "title" key
// so check for a title and print it if we have one
guard let todoTitle = todo["title"] as? String else {
print("Could not get todo title from JSON")
return
}
print("The title is: " + todoTitle)
} catch {
print("error trying to convert data to JSON")
return
}
}
task.resume()
Swift 5
API call method
//Send Request with ResultType<Success, Error>
func fetch(requestURL:URL,requestType:String,parameter:[String:AnyObject]?,completion:#escaping (Result<Any>) -> () ){
//Check internet connection as per your convenience
//Check URL whitespace validation as per your convenience
//Show Hud
var urlRequest = URLRequest.init(url: requestURL)
urlRequest.cachePolicy = .reloadIgnoringLocalCacheData
urlRequest.timeoutInterval = 60
urlRequest.httpMethod = String(describing: requestType)
urlRequest.setValue("application/json; charset=utf-8", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
urlRequest.setValue("application/json; charset=utf-8", forHTTPHeaderField: "Accept")
//Post URL parameters set as URL body
if let params = parameter{
do{
let parameterData = try JSONSerialization.data(withJSONObject:params, options:.prettyPrinted)
urlRequest.httpBody = parameterData
}catch{
//Hide hude and return error
completion(.failure(error))
}
}
//URL Task to get data
URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: requestURL) { (data, response, error) in
//Hide Hud
//fail completion for Error
if let objError = error{
completion(.failure(objError))
}
//Validate for blank data and URL response status code
if let objData = data,let objURLResponse = response as? HTTPURLResponse{
//We have data validate for JSON and convert in JSON
do{
let objResposeJSON = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: objData, options: .mutableContainers)
//Check for valid status code 200 else fail with error
if objURLResponse.statusCode == 200{
completion(.success(objResposeJSON))
}
}catch{
completion(.failure(error))
}
}
}.resume()
}
Use of API call method
func useOfAPIRequest(){
if let baseGETURL = URL(string:"https://postman-echo.com/get?foo1=bar1&foo2=bar2"){
self.fetch(requestURL: baseGETURL, requestType: "GET", parameter: nil) { (result) in
switch result{
case .success(let response) :
print("Hello World \(response)")
case .failure(let error) :
print("Hello World \(error)")
}
}
}
}
Api Call using Model Class
let urlString = "http://--.154.--.78/------/index.php?route=api/coupon/all"
