I have installed visual studio mac on my mac.
I have installed the tfs extension on visual studio mac.
I have connected to the tfs server in our server in office.
It successfully connected and it display the collection.
BUT it says it has 0 projects. there should be 4 projects in that collection.
User has admin permissions so it shouldnt be the case. Also it does show projects in tfs browser and vs in windows.
what would be the problem? thanks
Make sure you match the requirements:
Requirements :
Visual Studio Community, Professional, or Enterprise for Mac version
7.5 or later.
Visual Studio Team Services, or Team Foundation Server 2013 and later.
A Project in Visual Studio Team Services or Team Foundation Server, configured to use Team Foundation Version Control.
TFS Authentication:
To connect to TFS, enter the server details and your account
credentials. Enter a domain to use NTLM authentication, otherwise
leave blank to use basic authentication. Select Add Server:
And for your specific issue -- I do not see any / all of my projects :
After authenticating you should see the list of projects. By default,
only TFS projects to are shown. To see other types of projects, check
the "See all projects" box.
Keep in mind that projects that are on the server will not appear if
you don't have the correct privileges.

UPDATE:
Just try to uninstall the vs for mac, and install it again with the latest version, installed the latest extension. That should be work.

TFS can be installed both on a Windows server or client operating system. Note: TFS 2017 only supports 64-bit operating systems.
While TFS supports installation on client OSes, we don't recommend
this except for evaluation purposes or personal use. TFS installations

reporting. The TFS proxy can't be installed on client OSes. If you
need to use any of these features, install TFS on a server OS.

To add another member to a team, for TFS, the first time you add an account you must enter the full domain name and the alias. Take a look at this tutorial: Add team members.
I have the error tf31002 when i'm trying to add a team foundation server with vs2008. Errror says unable to connect to this Team Foundation Server.
I have installed all in the order that I have found out in the forum:
Visual Studio 2008 Professional edition.
Team Explorer 2008.
Installed Service Pack 1.
install the Visual Studio Team System
2008 Service Pack 1 Forward Compatibility Update for Team Foundation
Server 2010.
I have done that 3, or 4 times, and I still can not connect to a TFS 2010 server.
I'm working with a Windows 7 OS. I have readed all along different forums and I have tried a lot of things but nothing have worked.
Make sure you install the components in the order you listed.
Make sure you can access the TFS from Web Access.
Try to go to the TFS AT machine and connect it from VS to see whether you can connect it.
Make sure you are using the http://tfsserver:port/tfs/ProjectCollection url format.
If you use TFS server name in the URL, try to switch to TFS IP address. If you use IP address, try to switch to TFS server name.
Clean the Cache folder on your client computer. The folder path is: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\x.0\Cache.
Visual Studio/Team Explorer 2008 and Visual Studio 2005 are no longer
officially supported. To connect to the server, these clients must
interface through the MSSCCI provider instead. MSSCCI support only
includes support for source control integration and MSSCCI commands.

I'm trying to connect my AX 2009 installation to VSO (recently renamed to VSTS).
After browsing some forum entries I know that I have to install the following:
Install Visual Studio 2008 (not the Express Edition)
Install Team Explorer 2008
Install Visual Studio 2008 SP1 (This will upgrade both VS2008 and Team Explorer 2008 to SP1)
Install VSTS 2008 Forward Compatibility Update
The installation order is important because the SP1 will update VS and Team Explorer, so I followed that order.
Then I created a project in Visual Studio Online.
Now I want to connect my AX 2009 with the repository in VSO. The VSO is hosting a TFS, so this should work.
As far as I could find out to configure the TFS settings you need to set the Version Control Parameters and the System Settings. I did both as shown in the following screenshots:
When I'm setting the Version Control Paramters the Internet Explorer opened and I needed to authenticate with my User and Password against VSO (so this seems fine to me).
The final step now would be to Create the Repository (Tools -> Developer Tools -> Version Control -> Create Repository. But when I try to do this I get the following error-log: Team Server connection error. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
The settings in 7 could be wrong - I'm not really sure what values are to set there.
Any help is appreciated.
The plugin is trying to access a SQL Server database. As VSTS is hosted on Azure and uses multi-tenanting there is no access to SQL server on that URL.
I am pretty sure that this is not ever going to work. VSTS is NOT just hosted TFS and even if it were, Visual Studio 2008 is no longer supported as a client for either TFS or VSTS.
Install the following components:
Visual Studio 2010 with SP1 (can be installed side by side with, or as a replacement for VS2008).
Team Foundation Server 2010 SP1 Object Model

I have a server that the team foundation server is installed on. I can connect to TFS from several computers, but I can't connect to its from my laptop through internet. I can connect to it from web, but I can't via team explorer.
Indeed I can't add server via team explorer in visual studio, and I receive following error.
I have connected to this server for 3 months. Then I deleted the team project from server and worked offline. Now I want to add my solution to TFS, but I can't connect to it.
Flushing TFS cache fixed this error for me. To do so;
Delete the contents from the following folders
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio
C:\Users\<>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VSCommon
Go to the Visual Studio IDE folder in command prompt and run the following command "devenv /resetuserdata" from the Visual Studio IDE folder.
Typical location for 64 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE
Typical location for 32 bit: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE
Also, not sure if it made a difference but I also deleted this registry key;
KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VSCommon\12.0\ClientServices\TokenStorage

If you are using an older version of VS than TFS, make sure you install the forward compatibility packs.
I have TFS Server 2010 installed on a remote server.
I have some Windows users on this server for different members of our team.
I connected to the TFS Server using Visual Studio 2010 (installed on my local PC) and am trying to set up security permissions for some of the TFS users.
However, I am unable to do that, as from Team Explorer plugin in Visual Studio, I can see only the local users on my PC.
It seems that I need to install Visual Studio 2010 (or Team Explorer 2010) on TFS server! This seems a bit inconvenient. Are there other ways to solve this problem? Can I do without installing Team Explorer on the server?
Have you added yourself to the Project Collection Administrators group?
Go to the Team Foundation Server Console on the server, 'Server Name' > Application Tier > Team Project Collections > select the Team Project Collection > select Group Membership on the right
Double click the Project Collection Administrators entry and add your user account.
