Flutter dart add list to children - dart

I am new on dart, I just want to add a list of my data using map (store.state.availablePage.map) to the children of ListView, but I already have some item on the ListView.
Here the sample code I want :
class MgDrawer extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return StoreBuilder<AppState>(
builder: (context, store) {
return Drawer(
child: ListView(
padding: EdgeInsets.zero,
children: <Widget>[
Text("Title"),
store.state.availablePage.map((value) {
return ListTile(
title: Text("Title"),
onTap: () {},
);
}).toList(),
],
),
);
},
);
}
}
Please help me how I can achieve that?
Update: the code above is not compiled.
Updates Dart Lang version > 2.2.2, can be achieve using below code :
class MgDrawer extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return StoreBuilder<AppState>(
builder: (context, store) {
return Drawer(
child: ListView(
padding: EdgeInsets.zero,
children: <Widget>[
Text("Title"),
...store.state.availablePage.map((value) {
return ListTile(
title: Text("Title"),
onTap: () {},
);
}).toList(),
],
),
);
},
);
}
}

You ListView is having Text(Widget) and a Array of ListTile(Array of Widgets) which means ListView(children: [Widget, [Widget]]).
But it should be ListView(children: [Widget1, Widget2, Widget3,...]). Below code might help
class MgDrawer extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return StoreBuilder<AppState>(
builder: (context, store) {
List<Widget> list = store.state.availablePage.map((value) {
return ListTile(
title: Text("Title"),
onTap: () {},
);
}).toList();
list.insert(0, Text("Title"));
return Drawer(
child: ListView(
padding: EdgeInsets.zero,
children: list,
),
);
},
);
}
}

If for some reason someone is unable to use "..." operator, there is also another solution. It is not as elegant as "..." operator, but it also works.
You can just use ..addAll(list) at the end of the list.
Here is how it would look like in given example:
class MgDrawer extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return StoreBuilder<AppState>(
builder: (context, store) {
return Drawer(
child: ListView(
padding: EdgeInsets.zero,
children: <Widget>[
Text("Title"),
]..addAll(store.state.availablePage.map((value) {
return ListTile(
title: Text("Title"),
onTap: () {},
);
}).toList(),),
),
);
},
);
}
}

Display icons on a flutter app from cloud firestore

I am currently displaying my icons like this:
Widget _buildPopupDialog(BuildContext context) {
List<IconData> _iconsTable = [
Icons.feedback,
Icons.eco,
Icons.support,
Icons.call,
Icons.nature_people,
Icons.directions_bike,
];
return new AlertDialog(
content: SingleChildScrollView(
child: new Container(
child: GridView.count(
children: new List.generate(6, (int index) {
return new Positioned(
child: new DailyButton(iconData: _iconsTable[index]),
);
}),
),
),
),
However, I am wanting to get the icon data from cloud firestore. I am very new to using both flutter and firebase so I am very unsure how I would be able to do this. So far, I have tried this but iconData: Icons.iconsData obviously doesnt work:
class MyApp3 extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return MaterialApp(
home: MyHomePage3(),
);
}
}
class MyHomePage3 extends StatefulWidget {
#override
_MyHomePageState3 createState() {
return _MyHomePageState3();
}
}
class _MyHomePageState3 extends State<MyHomePage3> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: _buildBody(context),
);
}
Widget _buildBody(BuildContext context) {
return StreamBuilder<QuerySnapshot>(
stream: FirebaseFirestore.instance.collection('icons').snapshots(),
builder: (context, snapshot) {
if (!snapshot.hasData) return LinearProgressIndicator();
return _buildList(context, snapshot.data.docs);
},
);
}
Widget _buildList(BuildContext context, List<DocumentSnapshot> snapshot) {
return ListView(
children: snapshot.map((data) => _buildListItem(context, data)).toList(),
);
}
Widget _buildListItem(BuildContext context, DocumentSnapshot data) {
final record3 = Record3.fromSnapshot(data);
var _iconsData = record3.name;
return Padding(
key: ValueKey(record3.name),
child: Container(
child: Card(
child: new MoodButton(
onTap: () => print("Mood"),
iconData: Icons.iconsData,
),
// trailing: Text(record3.votes.toString()),
// onTap: () => record3.reference.update({'votes': record3.votes+1})
),
),
);
}
}
class Record3 {
final String name;
final int votes;
final DocumentReference reference;
Record3.fromMap(Map<String, dynamic> map, {this.reference})
: assert(map['name'] != null),
assert(map['votes'] != null),
name = map['name'],
votes = map['votes'];
Record3.fromSnapshot(DocumentSnapshot snapshot)
: this.fromMap(snapshot.data(), reference: snapshot.reference);
#override
String toString() => "Record<$name:$votes>";
}
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone is interested, I was able to figure it out:
Widget _buildListItem(BuildContext context, DocumentSnapshot data) {
final record3 = Record3.fromSnapshot(data);
int iconCode = record3.votes;
return Padding(
key: ValueKey(record3.name),
child: Container(
child: new Container(
child: new ListView(
scrollDirection: Axis.horizontal,
children: new List.generate(1, (int index) {
return new Positioned(
child: new MoodButton(
onTap: () => print("Mood"),
iconData: (IconData(iconCode, fontFamily: 'MaterialIcons')),
),
);
})),
),
),
);

Make cards with texts and buttons dynamically

I'm making Notes app. I made cards with text and buttons dynamically (Create by clicking the button). But I have problem with Changing Text on CURRENT card. For example, I have 3 cards with own texts and buttons and I want to change text on 2nd card but text is changing on the 3rd card. How can I solve this problem?

Okay, so you happen to make some common mistakes, one of which is critical.
most importantly don't use global variables! As you do with count, titlecard and textcard.
there is a practice to name stateful widgets with PascalCase and corresponding states just like the widget but prefixed with an underscore (_) to make it private and suffixed by the State word.
The correct approach for this (or one of them) would be to have a widget that would be your screen with a form to edit stuff and it would pop some struct with user values on submit:
class ChangeTextScreen extends StatefulWidget {
_ChangeTextScreenState createState() => _ChangeTextScreenState();
}
class _ChangeTextScreenState extends State<ChangeTextScreen> {
void _submit() {
setState(() {
formkey.currentState.save();
Navigator.pop(ChangeTextResult(title: titleController.text, text: textController.text));
});
}
// Rest of your code...
}
class ChangeTextResult {
final String title;
final String text;
ChangeTextResult({#required this.title, #required this.text});
}
You should also have a place where you store your notes in some kind of a list. Your main screen looks like a good place for it. Once your app will be bigger, think about using scoped_model or Redux or something.
So let's add a Note class and a list with your notes to your main screen:
class Note {
String title;
String text;
Note(this.title, this.text);
}
class HomePageState extends State<HomePage> {
List<Note> _notes = [Note('Test', 'Some test note')];
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
ListView cards = ListView.builder(
itemCount: _notes.length,
itemBuilder: (context, index) => MyCard(
title: _notes[index].title,
text: _notes[index].text,
onEdit: (title, text) => setState(() { // We'll get back to that later
_notes[index].title = title;
_notes[index].text = text;
})
));
// (...)
Your MyCard widget (try to use better names next time) should contain some kind of information about its content, one of the best approaches would be to pass this info to its constructor, just like that:
class MyCard extends StatefulWidget {
final String title;
final String text;
final Function onEdit;
MyCard({Key key, #required this.title, #required this.text, #required this.onEdit}) : super(key: key);
#override
_MyCardState createState() => _MyCardState();
}
Having this Key parameter is a good practice.
And use those parameters in your _MyCardState class (I renamed it from _myCard):
// (...)
children: <Widget>[
ListTile(
leading: Icon(Icons.album),
title: Text(widget.title),
subtitle: Text(widget.text),
),
// (...)
Returning to the moment where you open your ChangeTextScreen, you should assign the result of Navigation.push() to a variable. This is your result, you can deal with it (once we check it for null, the user could have returned from this screen and then the result would be null).
void click() {
setState(() {
final ChangeTextResult result = Navigator.push(context, MaterialPageRoute(
builder: (context) => ChangeTextScreen())
);
if (result != null) {
widget.onEdit(result.title, result.text);
}
});
}
Do you remember that onEdit parameter (I mentioned it in a comment in the code above)? We call that parameter here.
That's it I think. I could have mixed some concepts of your app, but I think you'll manage to get my point anyways.
I quite rewrote all of your code. I think it will be easier for you to start again from scratch and have those tips in mind. Also, try to Google some similar things (like a simple Todo application) or do Getting started from flutter.io with part two! That should give you a nice idea on how to resolve that common problem in Flutter.
And also, read about good practises in Flutter and Dart. Things like correctly formatting your code are really important.
BTW that's my longest answer on Stack Overflow so far. I hope you'll appreciate that.

How to pass down data from Stateful classes to another Stateful class that exists in another file?

I'm having trouble passing the data that's been filled in a textformfields and selected in a dropdown menu.
I'm trying to use the Map function to pass down String values so that I can also pass down all types of values in the future (ex. int, bool, double etc.), however it's not working so I need someone to check it out.

As you can see, I'm trying to separate the code into multiple files as much as possible, so it's more "readable" and make it easy for myself to make changes to the code whenever I have to in the future.
The problem is, it's quite spit up, I don't understand how to use the data and pass it down or up to the pages or widgets as there are multiple stateful and stateless widgets that are suppose to work together to make this app possible.
You'll notice on the HomePage file (StatelessWidget), I'm trying to show the Scaffold body argument with the RoutinesManager StatefulWidget, which is in a different file. At the same time in the HomePage file, I have a Scaffold floatingActionButton argument that will take you to the RoutinesCreatePage StatefulWidget to create a List of Cards (StatelessWidget) using the ListView.builder(). However, no Card gets created under the HomePage after the "Create Workout Routine" RaisedButton gets pressed in the RoutinesCreatePage and no data gets passed.
Can someone please help me out here as I am totally clueless. Also, I'm fairly a beginner regarding flutter/dart so a solution with a relatively easy to understand explanation would be very helpful.
Note: I do have other files that contribute to this app, however I don't think they're part of the problem so I left them out intentionally.
If more information is needed, please do let me know.
Thanks you!
it looks like you misunderstand what state in Flutter is. To explain in short, state is the internal status/data/... that belongs that that specific widget. StatefulWidget has state to determine if UI should be re-rendered on its own state change. External widgets never know about other widgets' states.
So it means, any state change happening inside RoutinesCreatePage widget, only that RoutinesCreatePage knows and reacts. Unless, you inform other widgets to know something has changed.
Alright, so talking about navigation, it works like a stack structure. HomePage trigger a push to RoutinesCreatePage, then to return, you need to pop, not another push.
Here a quick fix for your code, you can try.
HomePage
floatingActionButton: FloatingActionButton(
child: Icon(Icons.add),
onPressed: () {
handleNewRoutine(); <--- this is to handle navigation and retrieve returning data from pop
},
),
Future handleNewRoutine() async {
var newRoutine = await Navigator.push(
context,
MaterialPageRoute(builder: (context) => RoutinesPageCreate());
)
if (newRoutine == null) {
// nothing returns from RoutinesPageCreate widget
// so do nothing then
} else {
// add to routine list
// and trigger list re-rendering
setState(() {
this.routines.add(newRoutine);
});
}
}
RoutinesCreatePage: when clicking submit button, just populate all data from input fields, make object model and pop to return data to where this widget was pushed.
onPressed: () {
var newRoutine = .... // populate from UI to create new Routine model object.
Navigator.pop(context, newRoutine);
}
Also, take time to read the navigation guide from official Flutter documentation. It is very detailed on this part. https://flutter.io/docs/cookbook/navigation/returning-data
Some additional comments to your code:
in RoutinesCreatePage you don't need to know application level state, I mean _routines variable is unnecessary. You only need one object to store new routine to pop back to HomePage.
in Routines, this method Widget _buildRoutinesList(context) having unused ListView creation.
if (routines.length > 0 || routines.length <= 7) {
ListView.builder(
itemBuilder: _buildRoutinesItem,
itemCount: routines.length,
);
}

Add on tap function flutter

hello guys i want to create an onTap option for my icon, my code is like this and I cant figure out how to do so can you help me.this is my code:
trailing: new Column(
children: <Widget>[
new Container(
child: new Icon(Icons.bookmark),
margin: EdgeInsets.only(top: 25.0),
)
],
),
Use IconButton instead.
new IconButton(
icon: new Icon(Icons.bookmark),
onPressed: () { /* Your code */ },
)
In your code, you can use like this
trailing: new Column(
children: <Widget>[
new Container(
child: new IconButton(
icon: new Icon(Icons.bookmark),
onPressed: () { /* Your code */ },
),
margin: EdgeInsets.only(top: 25.0),
)
],
),
Create the button and Wrap it in a GestureDetector with an onTap callback
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
void main() => runApp(MyApp());
class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final title = 'Gesture Demo';
return MaterialApp(
title: title,
home: MyHomePage(title: title),
);
}
}
class MyHomePage extends StatelessWidget {
final String title;
MyHomePage({Key key, this.title}) : super(key: key);
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text(title),
),
body: Center(child: MyButton()),
);
}
}
class MyButton extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
// Our GestureDetector wraps our button
return GestureDetector(
// When the child is tapped, show a snackbar
onTap: () {
final snackBar = SnackBar(content: Text("Tap"));
Scaffold.of(context).showSnackBar(snackBar);
},
// Our Custom Button!
child: Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(12.0),
decoration: BoxDecoration(
color: Theme.of(context).buttonColor,
borderRadius: BorderRadius.circular(8.0),
),
child: Text('My Button'),
),
);
}
}
Important : for user interactivity, you can use onPressed property.

Flutter - Radio Animation is not showing up on showDialog

I'm trying to create a Radio in a showDialog, however the animation that occurs on Radio does not appear in showDialog.
For example: when tapped in foo2 nothing happens, and when you exit in showDialog and go back to it, foo2 is selected.
Below is the code and a gif showing what is happening:
import "package:flutter/material.dart";
void main() {
runApp(new ControlleApp());
}
class ControlleApp extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return new MaterialApp(
title: "My App",
home: new HomePage(),
);
}
}
class HomePage extends StatefulWidget {
#override
HomePageState createState() => new HomePageState();
}
enum _RadioGroup {
foo1,
foo2
}
class HomePageState extends State<HomePage> {
_RadioGroup _itemType = _RadioGroup.foo1;
void changeItemType(_RadioGroup type) {
setState(() {
_itemType = type;
});
}
void showDemoDialog<T>({ BuildContext context, Widget child }) {
showDialog<T>(
context: context,
child: child,
);
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context){
return new Scaffold(
appBar: new AppBar(backgroundColor: new Color(0xFF26C6DA)),
body: new Container(
child: new Row(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
new InkWell(
onTap: (){
showDemoDialog<String>(
context: context,
child: new SimpleDialog(
title: const Text("show"),
children: <Widget>[
new Row(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
new Radio<_RadioGroup>(
groupValue: _itemType,
value: _RadioGroup.foo1,
onChanged: changeItemType
),
const Text("foo1"),
new Radio<_RadioGroup>(
groupValue: _itemType,
value: _RadioGroup.foo2,
onChanged: changeItemType
),
const Text("foo2"),
],
)
],
)
);
},
child: new Container(
margin: new EdgeInsets.only(top: 16.0, bottom: 8.0),
child: new Text("Show"),
),
)
],
),
)
);
}
}
Remember that components are immutable.
When you call showDialog, the content of that dialog won't change even if HomePage does.
The solution is easy. You need to refactor a bit your code to something like :
showDialog(
context: context,
builder: (context) => MyForm()
)
and instead of changing the state of HomePage, you instead change the state of MyForm.
example :
class Test extends StatelessWidget {
void onSubmit(String result) {
print(result);
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: Center(
child: RaisedButton(
onPressed: () => showDialog(context: context, builder: (context) => MyForm(onSubmit: onSubmit)),
child: Text("dialog"),
),
),
);
}
}
typedef void MyFormCallback(String result);
class MyForm extends StatefulWidget {
final MyFormCallback onSubmit;
MyForm({this.onSubmit});
#override
_MyFormState createState() => _MyFormState();
}
class _MyFormState extends State<MyForm> {
String value = "foo";
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return SimpleDialog(
title: Text("My form"),
children: <Widget>[
Radio(
groupValue: value,
onChanged: (value) => setState(() => this.value = value),
value: "foo",
),
Radio(
groupValue: value,
onChanged: (value) => setState(() => this.value = value),
value: "bar",
),
FlatButton(
onPressed: () {
Navigator.pop(context);
widget.onSubmit(value);
},
child: new Text("submit"),
)
],
);
}
}
