I am new in Wireshark. My question is about Telnet and Eclipse. I have a program who communicate with Telnet. As you see in picture, When I write "a" in Telnet, [97] can be seen in Eclipse console as ASCII.
When i check Wireshark, I can not see any traffic on Telnet. When I filter as "ip.dst==10.10.10.12 && tcp.dstport==5000" or "tcp.port==23" or "Telnet", there is no data in wireshark. I guess, there is a problem in wireshark to see Telnet communication. How can i solve this problem?

I assume your machine's IP address is 10.10.10.12 and that you are telneting from your machine to itself, right?
I don't know Windows, especially how network data are captured by a program like Wireshark, so I may be completely wrong. But I bet Wireshark on Windows can only see packets that actually use your network adapter (WLAN), i.e. which come from or go to an external machine. Traffic that stay inside your machine is probably invisible to it and to any program of that kind (because it's an limitation of the OS).
Instead of telneting to your WLAN IP address, you may try telneting to localhost (127.0.0.x) and make Wireshark spy on the loopback interface.

I am able to capture only the packets routed through my NIC, but I want to sniff all the packets from other PC(s) connected to the same local wireless network. You haven't provided much detail about your capture setup - in particular what OS your capture PC is running or what hardware you have. The best advice I can give you to start with is to visit the Wireshark WLAN (IEEE 802.11) capture setup wiki page and carefully read its contents, particularly those sections that best relate to your system. At the very least, you will need to be able to place your wireless NIC into monitor mode, and the method by which you do that is OS dependent, so do visit that wiki page for more details.
If you happen to be running Windows and you are unable to place your NIC into monitor mode using Wireshark or you don't have an adaptor (such as an Airpcap adaptor) capable of capturing the traffic, or npcap doesn't work for you, then you might want to try other tools besides Wireshark, such as Microsoft's Network Monitor or their newer Message Analyzer capture tools.
Lastly, if nothing else works, then you might want to visit the Wireshark Tools wiki page to try to find other potential tools that might work for you in your particular capture environment.
You can use the Cain and Abel sniffing tool. It is very easy one. You can sniff packets by Cain and Abel and log them using WireShark.

We have installed a proxy inbetween host and internet. when i make a request google.com and if i see the communication in wireshark, i can just see the communication to proxy and reply from proxy, since proxy makes the actual request and reply to host.
in this case, how do we see the actual communication even if proxy is in intermediate. i have tried to open the packet and saw "Follow TCP Stream", but i could not find more information from it.
like communication from host to google.com in wireshark?
If you want to capture the traffic between the proxy and the destination, You would need to run wireshark on a machine that can see the traffic between the proxy and the destination. Eg, on the proxy, or on a machine connected to a switch setup to do port mirroring, or ...........
Basically though, without telling us the exact network layout, we cant help.

I am using Delphi XE2 and Indy 10.5.8 and TIdUDPServer
In my local development network I have everything on the same network ip subrange and all connected to the very same Access Point (LinkSys)
I have Androids sendind UDP Broadcast to 255.255.255.255 to request the server ip address that is written in Delphi listening using TIdUDPServer on the port 44444.
The requests get there fine and I can answer back no problem. Works exactly as expected.
However I have noted that in some networks it does not work! It is always simple networks based on an access point, I am not sure but seems that where the problem happens the server PC is connect to the LAN port while the devices are using the wifi, all in the same access point.
Could be the case that the access points do not broadcast the UDP packet by the both LAN and wifi? I know that this kind of broadcast is very limited, but I have not found any information that tell me that in the same access point there is limitations like that.
Is there are ways to test, or workaround?
This solution needs to be strong enough to deal with the many AP out there.

255.255.255.255 is not the best option for sending UDP broadcasts, and some routers/firewalls do block it unless configured otherwise. The better option is to use the NIC's actual subnet broadcast IP instead. For example, if a UDP socket is bound to local IP 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the broadcast IP for that subnet is 192.168.0.255.
Most platforms have OS-specific APIs for retrieving a NIC's actual broadcast IP, such as getifaddrs() on POSIX systems, or at least for retrieving the NIC's subnet mask, such as GetAdaptersInfo() and GetAdaptersAddresses() on Windows, so you can calculate the broadcast IP manually.
Retrieving the local broadcast IP(s) may be added to Indy in a future version.
in my college lab all the PCs are connected via LAN by L2 switch. i want to capture the http data packets by wireshark but it is only showing the interface of my own PC. so how can i capture the packets of other PCs.

It is in the nature of switches that you will only see either broadcast packets or traffic that has your MAC address as a destination, that is one of the crucial differences between a switch and a hub.
It is possible for most switches to be configured to copy traffic from one port to another, this is commonly done for monitoring purposes, but that has to be done via administrative access to the device.
You can manipulate the switch's behavior by means of ARP-Spoofing. But be cautious! Doing so might be seen as a criminal act.
So be sure that you're allowed to do so in the lab, sometimes that's OK if it serves the educational purpose. Ask your supervisor or the school's administrator.
My weapon of choice for such things is Ettercap.
A far less intrusive approach would be to use one of your own switches and configure it to forward all traffic. Then you can connect one port as an uplink to the lab's switch, one port to the device under test and one port to your machine running wireshark. (I would recommend using tcpdump for capturing, though.) If you don't have a manageable switch at hand, you can also use a router running OpenWRT.
Packet sniffers generally do not capture localhost traffic. I need to inspect some post data in a localhost environment (being generated from a Ruby on Rails development). Do you know of any programs that expose localhost packets?
I use fiddler on my Windows box for http sniffing. Since its only looking at http traffic you don't get nearly the amount of noise you get with something like WireShark.
The trick to getting it to work with data sent and received locally is to use a different endpoint for your urls. Using http://127.0.0.1./YourServiceName instead of http://localhost/YourServiceName has always worked for me. Its important to include the trailing 'dot' in the IP address. Don't ask me why though.
If you use Firefox, you could use the HTTP Logging feature:

If you just change your address from localhost to an assigned IP address (like 192.168.12.34 or whatever you may have), your packet sniffer should be able to see the packets.
These packets probably do not exist. There is no reason to packetize data when it is not leaving the host. The data should just go from socket to socket.
You might use something like Instruments or Dtrace to monitor the send system call.

It is not free, nor does it observe HTTPS traffic, but other than that it's a worthwhile addition to your toolbox.
