We are trying to setup a virtual machine environment complete with build tools, sql server, etc to allow development teams to have unique CI environments (both code and DB to allow functional verification). We have created this machine with everything installed (visual studio tools, sql server, etc) along with a couple of agent agents on other machines for performing unique tasks like redgate sql compare sync,etc. Our idea is to create a VMWare template of this machine. Each DEV team could spin up one of these machines and develop/verify on their unique branch which will be configured while the virtual machine is being spun up.
My question is how can we have several of these machines that have jenkins server, use the same agent machines. I don't want to reconfigure new agents at spin up but have the new VMs use the existing agents.
Try Docker, I think it will fulfill your requirements.

I am a beginner user of Jenkins. I am trying to putting a development process onto the DevOps pipeline that includes Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, IBM UCD.
It is not a very complicated deployment process and it uses windows machine.
There are three environments, QA, DEV, and PROD.
I know that I need to install one IBM UCD agent for each of those three, but do I need to have three slaves in Jenkins as well , or just one master in Jenkins could do that deployment for three environments ? Which way is better ?
Usually for the complex deployment process companies are using "Master+Agent" scheme, but in your case there is no need to create some advanced Jenkins system with master and agents if you can build it on one host and you have not any additional projects or restrictions.

It is pretty common when starting with Jenkins to have a single server which runs the master and all builds, however Jenkins architecture is fundamentally "Master+Agent". The master is designed to do co-ordination and provide the GUI and API endpoints, and the Agents are designed to perform the work. The reason being that workloads are often best "farmed out" to distributed servers. This may be for scale, or to provide different tools, or build on different target platforms. Another common reason for remote agents is to enact deployments into secured environments (without the master having direct access).

Having a PC for developing working with STS/Eclipse and Jenkins both working in the same machine and same time.
Now for pre-production testings is mandatory use servers running together such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, MySQL, PostgreSQL
Due this the PC goes slower, even worst if SonarQube and JMeter are running.
The solution needed is have in the same LAN network two machines.
Machine A: with IDE just running with some servers running too, MySQL and ActiveMQ
Machine B: running Jenkins (and optionally SonarQube and JMeter)
Thus the tools dedicated for:
Continuous Integration (Jenkins)
Continuous Inspection (SonarQube)
Measure performance (JMeter)
are running in a dedicated machine, in this case B.

What is the best approach to accomplish this goal?
I currently have one Jenkins master setup for our continuous integration project. Several different projects will need to be built using this Jenkins instance, each with different project dependencies as well as system dependencies.
From what I have read in the Jenkins documentation, a distributed build architecture can be implemented to provide different environments needed for builds/tests:

building projects are delegated to multiple "slave" nodes, allowing a
single Jenkins installation to host a large number of projects, or to
provide different environments needed for builds/tests.
I'd like to take this approach in order to avoid taking down the continuous integration system for all projects in the event there is an issue with a single project's dependencies.
Instead, just the agent for the project with the environment that has an issue would be down, and our other projects could build/test without issue.
My approach for this is going to be to launch Jenkins Slaves/Agents via SSH, which are each configured with what is required to build a specific project. In the jobs configuration, I'll then restrict where the project can be built to the appropriate slave/agent node.
Are there any issues in having Jenkins agents as virtual machines
with resolvable IP addresses running on the same machine as Jenkins
Master (as the goal is not necessarily to gain computing power, but
to provide isolated environments for builds/tests)?
Should simply using virtualbox to launch the Slave/Agent virtual
machines, and configuring those machines with the environment
necessary to build/test the specific project be sufficient as far as
the project's goals go?

I'm new to Jenkins, and I like to know if it is possible to have one Jenkins server to deploy / update code on multiple web servers.
Currently, I have two web servers, which are using python Fabric for deployment.
Any good tutorials, will be greatly welcomed.
One solution could be to declare your web servers as slave nodes.
First thing, give jenkins credentials to your servers (login/password or ssh login+private key or certificate. This can be configured in the "Manage credentials" menu
Then configure the slave nodes. Read the doc
Then, create a multi-configuration job. First you have to install the matrix-project plugin. This will allow you to send the same deployment intructions to both your servers at once
Since you are already using Fabic for deployment, I would suggest installing Fabric on the Jenkins master and have Jenkins kick off the Fabric commands to deploy to the remote servers. You could set up the hostnames or IPs of the remote servers as parameters to the build and just have shell commands that iterate over them and run the Fabric commands. You can take this a step further and have the same job deploy to dev/test/prod just by using a different set of hosts.
I would not make the webservers slave nodes. Reserve slave nodes for build jobs. For example, if you need to build a windows application, you will need a windows Jenkins slave. IF you have a problem with installing Fabric on your Jenkins master, you could create a slave node that is responsible for running Fabric deploys and force anything that runs a fabric command to use that slave. I feel like this is overly complex but if you have a ton of builds on your master, you might want to go this route.
Travis CI has a really nice feature, builds are run within VirtualBox VMs. Each time a build is started, the box is refreshed from a snapshot and the code copied on to it. Any problems with the build cannot affect the host, and you can use any OS to run your builds on.
This would be really good, for example, compiling and testing code on a guest OS that matches your production env. Also, you can keep your host free of any installation dependencies you might need (e.g. a database server) and run ITs without worrying about things like port conflicts.
Does such a thing exist for Jenkins?

This plugin allows booting of Vagrant virtual machines, provisioning them and also executing scripts inside of them
You can run Jenkins in a Master Slave Setup. Your Master instance manages all the jobs but lets all the slaves do the actual work. These Slaves can be VMs or physical machines. Go To Manage Jenkins -> Manage Nodes -> New Node to add Nodes to your Jenkins Setup.
There is the vSphere Cloud Plugin and the Scripted Cloud Plugin that can be used for this purpose.
