Start electron app with admin privileges as default - electron

I created an electron app which can only be started as admin, because it needs it for various command executions. Now it prompts that it must be started as admin.
This question was very helpful.
Now I want to start it with admin privileges right away so windows asks for the acception. It shouldn't be able to start the app without admin privileges.
I tried adding --win32metadata.requested-execution-level=requireAdministrator, but then it writes an error on startup (always):
The application has failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect.
How can I achive this with the electron packager?

Your electron-packager code looks fine, and the switch works for me.
This can happen if you are missing Visual C++ Runtimes, or if they're corrupted. Try installing them from here and try again.
If that doesn't help, then you should dig into the Event Viewer, which should come installed on your machine, and see what the specific error is. This page has some additional tips on troubleshooting this issue.

Granting "Local System" permissions the installation folder in Advanced Installer

I have an "Advanced Installer" project that I am trying to use to install my "TopShelf" windows service that I have built.
I found the spot in Advanced Installer to grant permissions to the installation folder, but I don't see a way to grant permissions to the "Local System" account.
Manually, this is done by going to the security option in the properties of the folder and adding a user with the same name as the computer name but ending with a $. For Example MyNiceComputer$. (Oh, and you have to select the "Computers" option in the types area.)
But there is no way to do all this in Advanced Installer. If I do make one like MyNiceComputer$, it just makes an empty entry in the security tab. (No Permissions on it, even though I setup for full control.)
Has anyone ever needed to do this with Advanced Installer?
Additional Details:
I am installing an app that runs as a windows service. (It is a console app built with TopShelf).
Our company policy is to install all our applications into a folder that looks like this:
C:\OurCompanyApps\MyApp
When I create the installer, it runs fine, but then I when I start up the Windows Service, I get the following error:
Windows could not start the MyApp service on Local Computer
Error 5: Access is denied.
But when I grant access to Local System (by giving Full Control rights to myNiceComputer$ on the MyApp folder), then this error goes away and the app runs fine. From what I read, this is because the application is running as Local System.
It seems odd that it needs full control but it does not work without it. (But as far as I can see, the contents of the folder are un-altered).
#Bogdan Mitrache seems to indicate that granting permissions to Local System is not possible via Advanced Installer. This is good to know (so I don't waste more time looking). I will probably ask my System Admins for a dedicated system account to run my service as. Not ideal, but it will serve as a work around.
So, in one of my "less finer" moments of debugging, I mixed up two different things.
There was also a file missing, (my config file). I restored that and changed the permissions at the same time. But then I forgot to go back and verify which one was the actual fix. (I know, not good debugging.)
So, the Access is denied error was due to a missing file.

SonarQube Service Starts, Runs and then Stops?

I have a Windows 2012 R2 server and I managed to install the SonarQube 5.4 server as a Windows Service. I also set up a user so the service can actually start without the infamous "It started then stopped" error a lot of people seem to get. Before installing the server as a windows service, I checked that it worked using StartSonar.bat and it did work just fine, so I was confident when I made it into a service.
But when I try to access http://localhost:9000 there is nothing there, and it appears that shortly after starting the service it stops without any message at all. I can't tell if this is because I try to access the site (which gives me ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSEin Google Chrome) or if it just closes down after a short while.
Anyone got any insight?

Ensure that the database is running.
My log file (located at sonarqube_home_dir/logs/sonar.log) included the following statement.
Caused by: org.h2.jdbc.JdbcSQLException: Wrong user name or password [28000-176]
Since I'm using the default database, I commented below lines
#sonar.jdbc.username=***
#sonar.jdbc.password=***
at sonarqube_home_dir/conf/sonar.properties.
This must happen due to many reasons like connection problems, permission problems so First, you have to see the logs. /sonarqube-7.6/logs$ tailf sonar.log. then you can find the reason. Once I had the same problem so I did like that. my error is something Directory does not exist: lib/jdbc/mysql
org.sonar.process.MessageException: Directory does not exist: lib/jdbc/mysql reason is I uninstall MySQL and remove all folders name contains "MySQL".
just check whether port 9001 already in used, stop it if already in used.

access trouble when controlling remote mac with AppleScript

I'm new to all this programming stuff, but trying to learn. I've had moderate success, but feel like it's more accidental than intentional. I'd appreciate help learning and understanding AppleScript in particular and networking, automation and programing in general.
Here's the environment: Almost all Apple with two Minis, a couple of laptops and various iOS devices including an AppleTV. The network consists of an Apple Airport Extreme, and an older D-Link switch I rescued (with permission) from the recycle bin at work. There are three Foscam wi-fi cameras as well. One of the Mini's (named Dora) is acting as a file server running Yosemite and the OS X Server application with a growing RAID 1 array for media storage.
What I’d like to be able to do is to run a single AppleScript from my laptop (Adam’s Macbook) that does the following:
Launch the application iCamSource on Adam’s Macbook
Change “Require Password to Wake” to true on Adam’s Macbook
Quit iTunes on Adam’s Macbook if it’s running
Start the current ScreenSaver locking Adam’s Macbook
Quit iTunes on Dora if it’s running
Start the current ScreenSaver on Dora if it’s not already running thereby locking Dora
I’d also like to have a single script on Adam’s Macbook that reverses these actions.
I have been able to launch iCamSource, set “Require Password to Wake” to true and start the ScreenSaver on Adam’s Macbook with a lot of Google-Fu, much trial and error, and quite a bit of frustration. I’ve not yet tried to quit iTunes if it’s running. That’s a new idea/requirement, but I think it should be pretty simple to add to the functioning script.
Where I’m running into trouble is controlling Dora from a script on Adam’s Macbook. I run into access errors (905 and 927 generally) about half to two thirds of the time I run the script. I’ve tried every syntax option and many combinations of syntax that I found via Google searches, but this is the one that has the most (but still inconsistent) success.

When reading various articles explaining how to do this, sometimes the scripts use eppc, others use epps and I’ve not seen a consistent result with either one. Some of the articles use the actual IP address of the remote machine, others use password#name.local, so that syntax would be slajdlll#dora.local. That change also seems inconsistent in its results.
This seems to be a pretty basic task, and I’ve found lots of articles that do this very thing, but their methods don’t work in my environment. Many of the articles I’ve read are quite old, so the syntax may be out of date. I’m kind of at my wits end, but feel I should be able to make this work. Any help y’all could provide would be VERY appreciated.
Update - I had the scripts working last night in all regards except controlling the remote machine. This morning, I tried to open the "Away" script to again tackle the remote control issue and I get a Syntax Error Unable To Authenticate User message and the script won't compile. Here's the code:

Both "Away" and "Home" scripts run from the AppleScript menu. When I unlock the ScreenSaver after running the "Away" script I get a dialog box stating "There was a problem connecting to the server "Dora's Airport Extreme. The share does not exist on the server. Please check the share name, and then try again." I'm beginning to think I may have a Permissions error on one or more of the machines, or if there's another problem that's making the scripts act inconsistently.

UPDATE Ok, it seems that there was a problem with iPhoto and Screen Saver interacting with the files on the networked hard drive. Opening iPhoto and slowly opening each image and re-linking those that had lost their location seems to have solved that problem. I am still encountering the access error code 905. In order to troubleshoot this process, I'm stripping the script down to one task, to quit iTunes on the remote machine named "Dora" Here's the code:

UPDATE 2
In the Groups section of the OS X Server application running on the remote machine, I found that there is a group called Apple Remote Events ACL. When I click the Edit button to view it's settings I see the actual account name is "com.apple.access_remote_ae-disabled". I wonder if this is telling us something. I searched several libraries for "com.apple.access" thinking it may be something that could be edited, but found nothing. I'm a member of that group. I tried removing myself from the group and tried the script with no change in the results so I added myself back into it.
UPDATE 3
As suggested I'm trying to eliminate OSX Server from the equation. To do this I'm going to try to launch TextEdit (since it's faster to launch than iTunes) on a third machine, known as Office Mini that does not have the Server application on it. Here's the script:

When I ran the script initially I got two dialog boxes asking for username and password. I supplied them and checked the "Save in Keychain" checkbox. The script didn't open TextEdit, but I'm not getting the access errors. I am getting different errors though, -600 or -10010 depending on if I use System Events or the Finder. Using the list on this page: Nicholas Reilingh AppleScript Error Codes I find that with System Events I get an error -600 which means the application isn't running. That's no surprise, I'm trying to open it. When I use the Finder instead of System Events, I get an error -10010 which the list indicates is "Handler can’t handle objects of this class." So, there's progress, but I'm still stumped.
UPDATE 4 To further clarify/simplify, I tried running a simple script to open iTunes on the Office Mini locally on that machine and it worked fine.

Substituting the "quit" for "activate", and trying this syntax with several different applications all worked quite well and very fast. I tried the same script and variations on the Dora machine with the same, successful results.
I then tried to make that syntax work remotely with this code:

I got this error message in the event log:

So, since OSX Server isn't running on the Office Mini, this seems to eliminate that as a culprit for the error. I tried altering the code with another variant I saw online that uses "epps" in place of "eppc" which results in a similar error message: "iTunes got an error: Remote access isn’t allowed." number -905. I did not get dialog boxes requesting credentials. When I've seen the "epps" string used online, it was formatted as "epps://username:password#location" so I used "epps://adam:slajdlll#10.0.1.196" and received the same error message. I even tried "Adam" in place of "adam" with no change in the results.
Yes, step 1 is to try to make your script as simple as possible to narrow down the point of failure.

A few notes:
I used "minipuppy.local" (the Bonjour linklocal name) rather than your eppc stuff, because I know what the former is, but not the latter. (You can get the link local name from the Sharing prefs panel* where it says "Computers on your local network can access your computer at:XXXXX"
An authentication dialog popped up saying that I needed to enter the username and password for the target machine - but it did have
an eppc address in the dialog (I didn't take a screenshot :-( )
After entering the username/password my script did nothing. Interestingly, I could not get it to print out a log as yours has?
I fixed this by going to the target Mac's System Preferences & enabling "Remote Apple Events" in the Sharing panel*. After turning that on, my script worked.
I'm hoping enabling "Remote Apple Events" is the ultimate solution to your simplified problem.

w3wp process not found

I use Visual Studio 2010 to debug a asp.net MVC project in my local machine. The steps are:
Click Debug and try to attch process "w3wp.exe". However it is not in the list.
I am sure "Show processes in all sessions" is clicked.
w3wp.exe won't show in the running process' unless there is actually an instance of the web application running.
Try to access your web page first, when it is displayed for the first time, try to attach your debugger. The process should now show up.
You need to click Show Processes from All Users at the bottom of the Task Manager list. This is what i needed to do.
Restart IIS
Right click your site >> Manage Website >> Browse
Back into Visual Studio refresh the processes list
Try to check on :"Show Processes for All Users"
When on the 'Attach to Process' window in the bottom left there is a checkbox 'Show Processes for All Users'
An easy way that works ,when w3wp dont appear in the list,open a browser and write localhost ,then enter.After that w3wp appears to list.
Just because an IIS application pool is started, there may not be an
IIS worker process w3wp running. IIS will not start the worker
process until the first web request is received.
In my case, I first launched the application, still could not find w3wp.exe. Then I took the worker process ID from (IIS->Worker Process -> Process Id) and then search by id in the details tab and found it.
Clear the Solution
Rebuild the solution
Reset the IIS by writing the command iisreset in command prompt
Go to IIS and browse your website
Run VS as administrator
Tools -> Attach to process -> Ensure the 'Show Processes for All Users' checkbox is checked -> w3wp.exe
Attach to w3wp.exec
If you are using something like Advanced Rest Client to test routes, call your route again then refresh the list of processes and it will show up
GoTo Web Project properties -> Select (Web) on the left sidebar -> GoTo under (Servers) header -> Click to dropdown and select "Local IIS"
and apply. Then, when you start debugging you will see w3wp.exe on the proccess list.
I just ran into this issue - you may want to also double check your host settings and verify that you are actually pointed to localhost and not a production server.
I forgot I was pointed at a remote server, and thus, though I was accessing the site, it wasn't anything local so w3wp wasn't running, despite my superficially being able to see the site running.
In my case, I have not opened the Visual Studio in Admin mode that is why the w3wp.exe was not showing on the list.
When I opened the Visual Studio in Admin mode, it worked.
Right click on Visual Studio -> Open in Admin mode.
In my case, once I rebuild the web project and raise the limit of Connection Time out (in seconds), it automatically shows in Debug/Attach to Process list and keeps working.
I would just like to share my experience as well for future readers.
Be aware that, in the event that you have a web server cluster configuration (for load balancing etc) the w3wp process might not start on the same machine that you expect it to.
Unless your website is configured to only run on a single IIS instance, the w3wp process might be spinning up on one of the other machines inside of your web cluster.
This might be faulty configuration from the networking team/department or intended behaviour. I don't have the neccessary experience to pin point exactly how it should be configured.

In my case, I needed to connect from one Visual Studio to the process which running from another VS studio window.
The problem was next: one VS was launched with Administrator permissions. For resolving that issue you should launch both VS with Admin perm.
In my case, the problem was that I wasn't running Visual Studio as Administrator. My machine had restarted after an update and relaunched all the previously running processes, but had only relaunched VS in non-admin mode. When I restarted VS in admin mode, the w3wp.exe processes were available again for debugging.
Run the remote debugger as an administrator.
I followed every suggestion to resolve the issue, but it was not until I ran the remote debugger as an administrator that I was able to see the w3wp process
Try the following steps:
Create a virtual path from Solution Explorer.
Go to inetmgr to confirm that your own pool is created.
Go to Attach Process (Ctrl+Alt+P) and show processes for all users.
Then you will see w3wp.exe will be there.
Be aware that even after jumping through all these hoops (kicking off an instance using a web browser, starting your remote debugging session as an admin, ensuring that "show all users" is checked, etc., ensuring you aren't on a server farm, etc), you may still at times be out of luck.
There are times when the remote process, usually a WCF service in my case, simply will not show up in the list of processes to attach to, and there's nothing that can be done about it. I'm always careful to make my target process readily identifiable by keeping it and only it in a certain App Pool. Sometimes you just can't get there from here. This is undoubtedly the most frustrating thing about remote debugging Microsoft has ever done.

Utidev webserver's windows service not running

im trying to host my website developed in ASP.net4.0 in Ultidev's casini webserver 2.0.
bt when i try to host the same or click on http::/localhost:port, im getting following error.
Utidev webserver's windows service not running.
I dont hav clue on the windows service it's expecting.
Do i need to install any other dependencies ?
Please look at the error pic.

The host process for that application, DefaultSharedHostProcess, is having trouble starting. Look in the Windows Event Log, as well as "UWS.Installer.log.txt", "RegRepairTrace.txt" and "AppRegTrace.txt" files in the "%ProgramFiles%\UltiDev\Web Server" folder.
As there are a variety of circumstances which can lead to this error, you will need to edit your question and add in the relevant error details you discover from the logs, or go start a thread on UltiDev's support forum. For instance, I encountered this error because of a permissions issue to machine.config in a .NET 4 folder.
Ran into this today, and found if I recycle the host process, I was up and running.
In the UltiDev Web Server Explorer window on the left side, click on the Default Shared Host Process.
On the right side, you'll see a button named "Recycle Host Process". Click it, and answer Yes.
After this, the Windows Service started up, and I was able to communicate with my web app.
