The instructions on the official website aren't clear. Does anyone know how to setup VLFEAT on Octave(Windows)?
I could use vlfeat in Octave (on Windows 7) with the following procedure:
1) Download the vlfeat binaries from the website.
2) Copy the "toolbox" subfolder somewhere, say "D:\".
3) Rename it to "D:\vlfeat_octave"
4) Run Octave, and run addpath(genpath("D:\vlfeat_octave")) and then savepath
5) Quit Octave and start again.
Then I could use vlfeat without any issues.

Hi i want to generate tesseract OCR training data file(tessdata). I'm using jTessBoxEditor tool(On Mac Os) for achieving this, but i have no idea how can i use this tool. And further i use the tessdata file in my ios application.
I'm also searching for this i share the links with you
http://vietocr.sourceforge.net/training.html
http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/wiki/TrainingTesseract3
but i have no luck :( . So please share the links which provide detail/steep by by steep implementation of training file(teasdata file).
Here is the download for the tess files
http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/downloads/detail?name=tesseract-ocr-setup-3.02.02.exe&can=2&q=
I'm on the same page as you with getting this to work. Here is the tut im using.

I have learned that you need a .tif file with a .box file in the same folder to load the boxes.
For Example
testdata.tif
testdata.box
anotherExample.eng.tif
anotherExmaple.eng.box
To create box files easily if you don't know how do this after you download and install the tesseract files.
->Open command prompt and CD to your tesseract file, which is usually in your programfiles/Tesseract-ocr folder
-> Run Box creator tesseract C:\location of the tif file\thetiffile.tif C:\location of the tif file\thetiffile.tif
batch.nochop makebox
and that should spit out the box file you need.
I'm in the process of going through and discovering. I will keep you updated. If you have any other issues let me know and maybe I can help.
You'll have to build or install all the Tesseract training executables first. Then inside jTessBoxEditor, set the appropriate Tesseract Executable location.
I was following a tutorial for object detection using opencv, I did it step by step but when I run it, I got this error -
The program can't start because opencv_244d.dll is missing from your computer.
Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I don't know what is the problem because I can see this dll in opencv libraries, I have added the following to the input dependencies:
opencv_core244d.lib
opencv_imgproc244d.lib
opencv_highgui244d.lib
opencv_ml244d.lib
opencv_video244d.lib
opencv_features2d244d.lib
opencv_calib3d244d.lib
opencv_objdetect244d.lib
opencv_contrib244d.lib
opencv_legacy244d.lib
opencv_flann244d.lib
This is still not working, what can I do?
You can find the required dll files into the bin folder (that is next to lib folder where the .lib files are located), and you have two options:
1) copy the required dlls into the same folder with your application //this is a little better because it kind of prepares you for when you'll need to deploy your application on systems that don't have opencv installed (for then don't forget to build the release version of your application)
or
2) add to the Path in the Environment Variables your path to that bin folder (be carefull that the path in there are separated by ; )
I would advise you to build the OpenCV libraries from source so that you can have a custom installation specific for your system (this is always better since it gives you the option of using what you want/need and also the performance is better since the libs are custom-made for your system).
OpenCV does not contain a library file called "opencv_244d.dll".
Check all your dependencies and their names so you don't have any misspelled names. All the names are something like "opencv_name244d.dll" such as "opencv_photo244d.dll".
I have followed the tutorial here: http://www.hitl.washington.edu/artoolkit/documentation/devstartup.htm
When I try to compile the program, it will compile but the output window will tell me:
DSVLd.dll(tid 774c) 42818982 : Could not access module key
DSVLd.dll(tid 774c) 42818982 : Could not access GLOBAL module key
And then the program will quit.
I have been able to setup the toolkit according to the instructions and was able to run the sample programs just fine. I am not sure whether or not there is some setup steps I missed or need to configure if I am creating this project from scratch.
I am currently running 64-bit Windows 7.
Any help would be much appreciated!
I have a similar debug output when my program is running a linked library using MS directshow (debug version). It seems the debug system is looking for Windows registry keys. But it should not be the reason for a program quitting, at least mine works unaffected.
I solved it just now. Just copy the two files (data and Wrl) from ARToolKit\bin\data and ARToolKit\bin\Wrl to the directory debug under you own project folder, not just copy to your project folder.
I'm trying to install OpenCV on Windows. Following are how I installed it:
Download OpenCV 2.4.2.exe from sourceforge.
unarchived it.
open Eclipse CDT.
Add C:/opencv/include/opencv to "Includes"
Add opencv_highgui, opencv_core, opencv_ml... to "Libraries"
Create a small project and compiled it.
The compiler complained about "opencv2/core/core_c.h:No such file or directory"...
I remember that when I install OpenCV on Ubuntu, I did compiled the project (it took quite a bit of time). Do I have to do the same thing on Windows? Or is any other thing causing this error?
Thanks.
You should add correct directories to includes.
Since you added C:/opencv/include/opencv, there is no way for compiler to find C:/opencv/include/opencv2/core/core.h.
I believe you should enter C:/opencv/include/ to includes directories as well.
I'v searched hi and low and being a novice developer I'm looking for some help. What I need to do is display weather radar over a map for a app I am trying to develop. Most of the content I have run across is outdated. My project is created using storyboards, looking for any assistance available with this issue. I have all the API's and associated info.
Thanks,
Creating an overview can be quite a cumbersome task. I found this tutorial to be a good start.
Basically the tutorial says that these steps have to be done:
I would recommend a 600 ppi tiff. My tiff had a resolution of about 4000*2000 pixel.
downlaod and install gdal: http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/frameworks. The installation of gdal is no joy. I can't explain every step here. Basically: first install using the complete installer. Then install numPy. Then copy gdal in the path with the terminal.
load the tiff into Google Maps to get the coordinates of the 4 corners.
create the vrt file with gdal. The command will look similar to this string: gdal_translate -of VRT -a_srs EPSG:4326 -gcp 0 0 7.435822 46.953453 -gcp 2285 0 7.460397 46.953453 -gcp 2285 1479 7.460397 46.942342 -gcp 0 1479 7.435822 46.942342 MN_A.tiff MN_A.vrt
Create the tiles with MapTiler. The Mac version didn't work for me, but the Windows version did the job.
You need to add these tiles to the project and create a folder reference for them. The code of the WWDC video Session 127 shows how that works.
repeat step 3-5 until the overlay works fine.
