I have created a small application in Unity using Vuforia SDK. It recognizes an image and projects a 3D model on the top of it.
I am able to run the app in Unity Editor but getting an issue when I try to create an iOS project and run the app on device.
I am trying to run it on iPhone X (iOS version 11.3) and this is the error that I am getting when the app starts:
VideoBackgroundConfig with screen size of zero received, skipping
config step
I searched the issue on net but the solutions that I got didn't work. I am using Vuforia version 7.0.47, Unity version 2017.3.1f1 Personal and XCode version 9.3 beta 4.
Could someone please provide some pointers?
This video shows how to solve this issue. Basically it is a XCode 9.3 bug. You need to copy an old XCode iOS 11.3 framework folder to the XCode 9.3.

Did you initially create your project on Windows ? And then transfer to OSX ?
It is possible that some version of unity or xcode or vuforia don't run on OSX... You should re-import Vuforia after transfering to OSX.
It could also be due to the Lightning parameters, go to Windows>Lightning then Lightmaps tab. Uncheck Auto then rebuild, upload to iOS and try it again.

I'm currently working on an AR project for mobile using the Vuforia engine package in Unity.
The project works fine on the Unity Editor and when i export it to Android Studio.
However when i export it on XCode for iOS, Unity launches correctly but then i get an execution error message from Vuforia.
See error screenshot:
I currently use Unity 2020.3.29f1, Vuforia 10.12.3 and XCode 14.2, i do test the project on an Iphone 14 pro simulator with iOS 16. I have tried upgrading and downgrading Unity and Vuforia versions. I also have tried creating an new empty Unity project and adding the Vuforia package (so that Vuforia get's initialized on start), none of that works. I know the problem comes from vuforia because i tried exporting an previous unity project of mine that doesn't use Vuforia and it directly worked.
Thank you
Apparently Vuforia didn't support iOS simulator as of 2018 and i'm guessing it's still the case, i don't have a device to test whether that's where the problem comes from or not. I'll post an update when i can.

[UPDATE]
I have tried the app on a physical iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16.2 and it worked directly, i think it's safe to say Vuforia still doesn't accept iPhone simulators

I keep getting this error, whenever I try to run my app on my iphone, which is running iOS 8.1.-
The Developer Disk Image could not be mounted.
User’s iPhone may be running a version of iOS that is not supported
by this version of Xcode.
I tried restarting my mac and xcode, but problem persists.
Xcode 6 only contains the iOS 8.0 SDK.
If you're running iOS 8.1 on your phone, then you'll need to upgrade to Xcode 6.1, which contains the iOS 8.1 SDK.
Download the latest version of Xcode from the App Store. I had an early version of XCode 6.1 that lacked the 8.1 SDK. Upgrading to the latest fixed the problem.
Restarting my phone cleared this for me.
It started a day after updating to Xcode 6.1 and phone (4s) to 8.1 worked fine to start with then stopped with this message a day later.
Opening project in Xcode 6.1 then again in 6.0.1 seemed to fix issue, if your project is not ready to be compiled in 6.1!
Did you check your apps' base version. If the base version is set to 8 and your device is 7, you will probably get this error.
and if your base version, from what i imagine is 8.1 and your device is not updated to 8.1 it wont work either.
Xcode 6.4 beta would not run iOS 8.3. Switched to Xcode 6.3 fixed the issue. And then when opening it back in 6.4 beta, was working fine.
Just ran into this after absentmindedly upgrading my phone to iOS 8.3. Resolution required an upgrade to OS X Yosemite (10.10) before I could update to a version of Xcode that supports that version of iOS.
I have seen this error before in my experience. It means that the Developer Disk image in your Xcode is not compatible with the one in your iOS device that you are trying to run/develop an app with. One of the easiest way to solve this is update your Xcode installation. Another quick trick that I learned with is by copying Developer Disk image versions into Xcode.app's directory.
I earned some copies of different versions of Developer Disk image from various Macbooks that have updated and outdated Developer Disk images. You could download some resources online, extract it and then place the whole directory on your Xcode's installation directory normally located here: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/.
I hope this helps!
I have a developed application and the code is compiled using Xcode 4.6 and executes on iPhone with IOS version 6.1.3 . That's all OK.
Now I am requested to test it on the iOs 7.0 or later version . Then I upgrade all needed stuff , including xcode, mac OS version ,etc. (I have to upgrade them because the original version of xcode complains of the failure that it can not compile and debug on ios7.0)....
When I try to build the code using the latest combined versions and run on ios7.0, the application is dysfunctional and the problems are mainly related to GUI-related.
But the application with xcode 4.6 built can normally run on IOS 7.0.3 phone. So I think it is feasible for the legacy code/SDK to run on ios 7.0.3. Currently, I don't have plan to upgrade the code to optimize for ios7.
So My question is : How can I test/debug this application on iOS 7 or later ?
Thanks alot
Daniel
If i am not getting wrong understanding from your question...And what you want is this..
You don't want to build your application using iOS 7 base sdk (You were using iOS 6 base sdk on xcode 4.6).
But you want to use latest xcode with old SDK 6.1 etc and test apps on iOS 7 Devices/Simulators
Here is solution...
You just need to copy 6.1 SDK(or older) from your old xCode(4.6) to latest xcode(5.x) sdk folder and set base sdk to 6.1 SDK(or older one) in project setting.
This will let you run your app on devices with iOS 6.x or lower as they were running before also lets you test your app on iOS 7 devices without compiling with latest iOS 7 SDK.
To achieve this..
1. click on your xcode4.6 -> show package content , go to path
/Applications/Xcode_4.6.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer
This is where you will see older SDK you were using (6.1 etc). Now open same path for latest xcode 5.x and copy SDKs from old xCode path to new xCode path. OR Download it from Xcode preference -> Downloads.
2. Now go to project setting and set base sdk as iOS 6.x SDK
You can use Wireless AdHoc Distribution or simply build the IPA and install it through iTunes. Debugging it, however, is a bit more complicated. You will have to launch Instruments on its own and choose the already running process on the device.
I have updated my mac with ios7 xcode 5... ui is change... can i build my pp with older version. i mean is there any seeting which will allow me to build my app on older version from new one.
Thanks
AFAIK .. The only way to do this will be to download the older SDKS and link them to XCode.
With iOS7 SDK you can still set your deployment target to iOS6 and things like Autolayout etc will work.
Really supporting older versions of the SDK might actually not be worth it since API deprecations etc might cause your app to break in the real world.
I found solution to my problem after doing experiments... hope this is correct as result is what i wanted...
i copied all SDK from my old Xcode 4.6 folder after opening content package folder and then found SDKs inside to my new Xcode5 folder.
then i got option to change base SDk was showing both SDK for new and old ios. selected for 6.1 and also deployment target to 6.1....and yes i got my UI back ....everything was same that for ios6.1.
hope i will not get any issue when i will upload it on itunes...
Set your deployment target to 6.0 in your Xcode5 project.
Build & Archive your project to create an .ipa file.
Install it in your iOS7 device using iTunes.
After today's announcement that iOS 6 Beta is available to developers today, I am wondering if I jump on the iOS 6 ASAP will I still be able to build my apps in progress on my device(iPhone) from Xcode 4.3.2? or will there be a required update for Xcode as well?
Update: Currently I have iOS 6 on my iPhone and Xcode 4.5 installed. After that the organizer in Xcode (4.3.2 and 4.5) said 'could not support development' in the Provisioning. Then fixed that, and now I have 4.3.2 saying that it is running my app on my iPhone, but its not showing up on my phone. And 4.5 gets to the 'TakingInstallLock' point in the process, and just keeps trying, but getting nowhere. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know of a solution?
You can push apps to your phone from Xcode 4.3.x if your phone is running the iOS 6 Beta.
You cannot, however, utilize any of the iOS 6+ frameworks such as the new Social framework from within Xcode 4.3.x
I can't comment yet so this is to confirm that installing Xcode 4.5 DP acutally installs the iOS 6 SDK for Xcode 4.3.2 as well. This is rather obvious as SDK files are installed in a general place (namely the Library folder) of OSX.
The steps to use your updated iOS 6 device for development with Xcode 4.3.2 thus are:
Download Xcode 4.5 DP from the dev area of apple.com.
Install Xcode 4.5
Start up Xcode 4.3.2
Open up the devices section, choose your device for development, wait for the process of fetching information to finish and you are good to go.
Regards!
Any apps that you write using beta software will be rejected. To translate, if you use iOS 6 SDK beta or the new Xcode beta that gets released today, your app will be rejected even if you make a build for just iOS 5.
I installed iOS6 and Xcode 4.3.2 didn't recognize my device. After installing Xcode 4.5 beta and letting it install a few things, 4.3.2 now recognizes my device and I can carry on building and testing on my iOS6 device.
I would say no!
I updated last night and now I can't run my app on my phone.
