The below is the command line execution for the automated build to schedule from Jenkins.. This is working fine.
cd C:\Users\3020722\Downloads\Katalon_Studio_Windows_64-5.3.0
katalon.exe -runMode=console -projectPath="C:\Users\3020722\Katalon_Studio\PoC\PoC.prj" -retry=0 -testSuitePath="Test Suites/POCTestSuite" -browserType="IE"
I need to take the latest project from the gitHub... How the workflow for the command line execution.
1. Clone Project in to local directory
2. Use that directory in the command line execution
Is it the case first it needs to clone into always local path (pre-defined) and that path needs to be given. Can you please let me know how the workflow for gitHub to Jenkins
Thanks
You can utilize WORKSPACE variable from Jenkins: https://wiki.jenkins.io/display/JENKINS/Building+a+software+project#Buildingasoftwareproject-belowJenkinsSetEnvironmentVariables
Just put it directly into Katalon Studio command and Jenkins will parse it automatically, e.g:
katalon.exe -runMode=console -projectPath="%WORKSPACE%\PoC.prj" -retry=0 -testSuitePath="Test Suites/POCTestSuite" -browserType="IE"

I am new to Jenkins but have done a few builds/deployment jobs of .net project successfully.
Now I am trying to build/deploy Vue.js project through Jenkins but just cannot get through...
I can build the project directly on a server using command prompt. It builds and creates files for deployment in a right directory.
When I am trying to do it in Jenkins job (using the same npm commands) it does not give any error messages, says it built successfully but it does NOT create any files for deployment.
Does anybody encounter this problem? Did anybody build Vue js project through Jenkins? Any help appreciated. Thanks!
In execute windows batch command I run:
cd myworkdirectory
npm install
npm run build
Not too complex, as I found.
Create freestyle project.
In section Source Code Management please define your repository.
In section Build Triggers please define triggers
In section Build define either Execute Windows batch command or Execute shell within sections like (my choice in the moment - windows):
git checkout develop
npm -g install
npm run build
del /s /f /q c:\applications\frontend-app-build\*.*
for /f %%f in ('dir /ad /b c:\applications\frontend-app-build\') do rd /s /q c:\applications\frontend-app-build\%%f
robocopy dist c:\applications\frontend-app-build\ /E
New to Jenkins so apologise in advance as I'm sure this answer is out there somewhere. Just not sure exactly how to search for what I'm after. I'm struggling a bit with the copyback process in Jenkins.
When I build, I'm running some unit tests that create some log files which I want to be stored as part of the Jenkins build. I'm running on Windows 10 and everything is running on my laptop (I'm purely trying to learn Jenkins so this is fine for me).
So my test results will always appear in C:\TestLogs\*.log. I want the results copied to my build directory which is URL: http://localhost:8080/job/loadrunner_test/1/ absolute: C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins\jobs\loadrunner_test\builds\1
I'm a bit confused with which plugin I should use in my post build step? Copy Artifact plugin looks as if it's meant to pass data between builds. For each build, I just want to copy C:\TestLogs*.* to the current build directory so I can see them when I click on the link for #1 in the Build History.
Many thanks!
Tim
WindowsDir
Jenkins Build
You can copy it with additional step.
Select Execute Windows batch command for that step and add this line:
xcopy C:\TestLogs C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins\jobs\jenkins_test\builds\%BUILD_NUMBER% /s /e
You can also check configuration for your test if you can set path location.
I am building a gradle project and the source code is in git. After checking our repo to jenkins' workspace, how do i have jenkins go to a sub-directory and do the build?
I tried adding shell commands but cd will not work as it executes script on a separate shell.
If you are building a gradle project, perhaps you should use the "Invoke gradle script" step rather than a shell script?
As part of the gradle build script, it has an option to specify the "Root Build script", which will let allow you to specify a subdirectory if you wish.
See the Gradle plugin for more information.
I'm looking at a Jenkins job and trying to understand it.
I have an Execute shell command box in my Build section:
> mkdir mydir
> cd mydir
>
> svn export --force https://example.com/repo/mydir .
When Jenkins is done executing that command, and moves on to the next build step, what is its working directory?
workspece-root/ or workspace-root/mydir ?
As the next step, I have Invoke top-level Maven targets (still in the Build section).
What I really want to know is: why does that execute successfully?
Is it because Jenkins automatically moves back to the workspace-root/ folder after executing a shell command box, or is it because the next job is a "top-level" job, and Jenkins therefore changes back to the workspace-root/?
Each build step is a separate process that Jenkins spawns off. They don't share anything, neither current directory, nor environment variables set/changed within the build step. Each new build step starts by spawning a new process off the parent process (the one running Jenkins)
It's not that Jenkins "move back" to $WORKSPACE. It's that Jenkins discards the previous session.
I lately saw that if you print the CWD , I would get the Project_NAME.
E.g
D:\jenkins\workspace\My_Project
Any script you might be running wont be found. Hence we can do a "CD path" before we start out scripts.
Slav's explanation is very good and I thought of complementing it by providing a real world example that shows how multiple Windows batch commands look like even if they work in the same directory:
Command 1
REM #ensures that all npm packages are downloaded
cd "%WORKSPACE%"
npm install
Command 2
REM #performs a prod-mode build of the project
cd "%WORKSPACE%"
ng build --prod --aot=true -environment=pp
So, each one ensure that current working directory points to the current project directory.
I have configured a job in Jenkins and checked "This build is parameterized" option. The parameter name I have given is "My_Param". The Jenkins is installed in the server machine. So I access the Jenkins dashboard through http://<servername>:8080/ In the Build part, I have to call a script by opening cygwin. So I write
#!C:\cygwin\bin\bash --login -i
./build/myscript.sh -full
After the build is completed, I want to move the files to another new directory prefix with Output, This directory name is the parameter I intend to pass. so I write
mkdir /cygdrive/c/users/admin/Ouput$My_Param
I run the build and pass param as first
But, the directory is created as Output in the server machine and not as Outputfirst
Since you noted you use cygwin, I understand the server is on windows.
Try parameter windows style environment variable: %My_Param% or linux: ${My_Param}
I hope this helps.
