Docker Compose Pass Parameters - docker

There's option to pass command line parameters to the docker-compose so I can have more flexibility with docker compose file. But I have issue and it's not really clear why it happens. So here's the relevant docker compose

Now if I run command line APP_VERSION=stage/1.1 docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml -f docker-deploy.yml pull application to pull the application image with a particular version it fails with output
Pulling application (myregistry:5000/myapplication:stage/1.1:latest)...
ERROR: invalid reference format
Note the latest added at the end. What's going on ? Where did it come from ?

You want this to be:

Note that I replaced the : with /
And also set your APP_VERSION=stage:1.1

Containers run well independently but not in docker compose

I have an app with separated frontend and backend, each one is a subfolder. I have dockerized the front and the back separately in their folders, respectively.
Now, I'm trying to run them in the same network by using docker-compose in the root folder. The build is done successfully, but when I run it, the front container works just fine, but the back container exits with code 0.
Maybe it's worth mentioning that the container of the back is a done with a docker-compose too.
Can you help me please?

If the container runs well, It should run well with identical docker image that you have built. Try docker-compose up --build --force-recreate --no-deps to recreate everything from scratch with no cache, so then if you have error in your source code the error will throw for both standalone container and compose.

Docker Compose not reading multiple files

Using the below docker compose files, i am unable to bring up my app correctly. Docker says my LAPIS_ENV environment variable is not set, but i am setting it in my second compose file which I am expecting to be merged into the first one. I have tried including them in reverse order to no avail.

docker-compose force services to create seperate containers even when images are the same

I have 2 services which use the same image:, what can i do, to force docker-compose to generate 2 seperate containers?

I just run with docker-compose up
You misunderstand how the build and image directives work when used together.
Paraphrasing the docs,

If you specify image as well as build, then Compose names the built image with the value of the image directive.
Compose is going to build two images, both named the same thing. Only one will survive. I'm surprised your app spins up at all!
Provide a different name for the image directive of each service, or leave it out entirely.

Docker-compose Error cannot locate specified Dockerfile: Dockerfile

When I run docker-compose up I am getting following ERROR: cannot locate specified Dockerfile:Dockerfile

I think you should revise your docker-compose file similar to the following:
score-docker:
build:
context: ./
dockerfile: ./src/main/java/spring/multiple/mongo/project/score/Dockerfile
The point is, you need include your target/demo-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar score.jar into the docker build context. Otherwise, the Dockerfile COPY instruction will not able to find the file.
(I suppose you have the targer folder sibling as src folder).

Docker compose v3 - "Unsupported config option for volumes:"

I have a yml file with a configuration to run two containers. Here's the file:

When I run this I always get the following error:

I have googled this and I think this is good as it is now. What is wrong with it?
i think you should add version and services in docker-compose file.
