I want get the file ID found in the youtube playlist.
Example:
FROM
I want to download a list of files in the form of movie id:
watch? v = uelHwf8o7_U
watch? v = wfWIs2gFTAM .. ..
Unfortunately, I cannot do this with youtube api v2. Is there anyway that I can do this? Please help! Thanks!
What you're looking for is PlaylistItems.list. Just provide the playlistID and it will list all the videos in that playlist including their corresponding File properties (ID, title, etc.).

I've recently made a Python program using the Youtube api v3 where, given a playlist id, it fetches certain information from every video in the playlist. However, through both the output of this code and this post on Google, it's pretty clear that information on videos that were either privated or deleted is not available through the Youtube api.
Is there an alternative program or resource that I can use to extract information from these unavailable videos, in particular their video ids?
The only solution I can think of now is to access the HTML of the display Youtube and search through it for certain strings (like "[deleted video]") and to then extract the id corresponding to that string. But, I've never dealt with HTML and, if I understand HTML correctly, I'd have to load a new page for every 50 videos in the playlist, which for playlists with thousands of videos, becomes rather inefficient and laborious.
I was hoping to use something like PyTube, but that couldn't handle unavailable videos either.
Edit
Here is the code that extracts the video ids:
from googleapiclient.discovery import build
api_key = "AI~~~" #get from yt (private key)
yt = build("youtube", "v3", developerKey = api_key)
plst_id = "PLorw3mfu-J0ipF4Ss0XgR8IxcwP-JzNKC" #unique yt playlist id
plst_req = yt.playlistItems().list( #request for info from yt api
part = "contentDetails",
playlistId = plst_id,
maxResults = 50
)
plst = plst_req.execute()
vid_ids = [] #available video ids taken from current playlist
for vid in plst['items']:
vid_ids.append(vid['contentDetails']['videoId'])
print(vid_ids)
print(plst['pageInfo']['totalResults'])
The first line printed contains the video ids of every available video in the playlist. The second line printed gives the number of videos in the playlist, including available and unavailable ones.
The playlist used in the code above is given here. It contains 10 total videos, of which one of them is unavailable.
In this case, the output is (with a valid api key)
['bv_cEeDlop0', 'mRKTOZmX2cE', '5ACvKdx1nns', 'wSNhP8b_Avo', 's56cHgokPlE', 'E4IHMWnQiMw', 'sCDkPShADSc', 'EVwgeUVVDYU', 'Z8Mqw0b9ADs']

Youtube still treats unavailable videos as an element of the playlist, but does not give out it's video id. In this particular instance, the video id of the unavailable video is "t83zUmjr05I", which is not hard to find manually: copy the link address of the deleted video and extract the part after the "v=".
But, on a larger scale manual extraction becomes tedious.
Here's a permanent fix to that!
You can try tube_dl.
pip install tube_dl
It uses modular approach and is up to date
More about this can be found at : https://github.com/shekharchander/tube_dl/
Maybe, the playlist module can help you with that. It uses regex to grab all video IDs not JSON. Please let me know if the problem is fixed or not, I will update module accordingly.
Edit
Here's the working code
from tube_dl import Playlist
p = Playlist('https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLorw3mfu-J0ipF4Ss0XgR8IxcwP-JzNKC').videos
print(p)
I can't find the answer to this one anywhere:
with the YouTube API V3, is it also possible to only list the videos from a channel that are not listed in playlists?
I am using this jsonUrl
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?channelId=....
hope someone has the answer!
No, not from the API.
If you had specific playlists in mind, you could extract those videoIDs from the playlists and then check that list of IDs when fetching videoIDs from the channel. That's about all I can think of.
To retrieve all videos from you channel, go to search.list and use the following parameters (choose list my videos):
type - video
q - LEAVE_THIS_BLANK
forMine - true
maxResults - 50
part - snippet
then Execute. It should return all vidoes. If there's more than 50, just use nextPageToken.
See related SO post.
I'm trying to find a way to retrieve all videos posted by a given user (eg: https://www.youtube.com/user/laliga/videos).
All the examples I've found online or the doc (https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/) seems to require either a playlist ID, channel ID or video ID.
Is there any way I can directly query the author's videos or am I forced to retrieve all playlists and then iterate over?
Thanks
You just need to map the user name to its channelID first via the YouTube API like so:
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/channels?forUsername=USER_NAME&part=id&key=API_KEY
Full docs: https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/channels/list
Then you can make a Videos:List call with that channelID to get the videos.
1)take your google key id and channel id and put inside below url
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?key=APIKEY&channelId=CHANNELID&part=snippet,id&order=date&maxResults=20
ex
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search?key=adsjsdakhkjshd&channelId=sdahghsadhgj&part=snippet,id&order=date&maxResults=20
Been searching for the API to embed a Youtube channel's user_uploads for channels which have the new channel_id (starting with UC) instead of a user name but did not find any working solution. According to the API, there is only the possibility to embed a player with user_uploads for a USER ID. Are there any (undocumented?) parameters to achieve this?
Example of working iframe embed with user_id:
http:// www.youtube.com / listType=user_uploads&list=USERNAME
Not working:
http:// www.youtube.com / embed?listType=user_uploads&list=UC....xxxxx (Google + style channel id)
The posted answer does not work anymore.
Now you should use:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=USERID
And the USERID is your youtube user id with 'UU' appended.
For example, if your user id is TlQ5niAIDsLdEHpQKQsupg then you should put UUTlQ5niAIDsLdEHpQKQsupg.
If you only have the channel id (which you can find in your channel URL) then just replace the first two characters (UC) with UU.
So in the end you would have an URL like this:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=UCTlQ5niAIDsLdEHpQKQsupg
BTW. you can append &index=1 to specify which video should be played.

Never seen such a username. Do you have a link to a user (youtube website) with such a username ?
Update.
It looks like it is a part of the new V3 api from youtube and I filed a bug report at the youtube dev forum since it wont't work withe the user_uploads iframe
http://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues/issues/detail?id=6463
For example this channel
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpAOGs57EWRvOPXQhnYHpow
then ID is UCpAOGs57EWRvOPXQhnYHpow
Now try to load this
http://www.youtube.com/embed/?listType=user_uploads&list=UCpAOGs57EWRvOPXQhnYHpow
This isn't working, Only with real usernames
I am trying to get a list of video ids for all uploaded videos to a channel. I would also like to use the new version of the YouTube Data API (V3). How do I do this?
You have to get the upload playlist id to get each videos uploaded. To get that, you need to get the channel id. After you have the playlist id from the channel id, it is pretty simple. I have written out the steps for all three below.
Also, we offer PubSubHubBub which allows you to be alerted every time a new video is added to a channel, or you could use SUP (V2) to see which resources have changed before making the calls.
Instructions to get video ids for all uploaded videos for a channel in V3
Get the channel id for the channel you want (you probably only need to do this once, then you can save it)
Use search.list
Set type to channel
Set q to the name of the channel you want
Grab the channel id (something like this: "channelId": "UC0X2VuXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX")
Get the playlist id for the channel uploads using the channel id from step 1 (you probably only need to do this once, then you can save it)
Use channels.list
Set id to UC0X2VuXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX from step 1
Grab the uploads key from contentDetails (something like this: "uploads": "UU0XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX")
Get the videos via the playlistitems in the playlist using the playlist id from step 2
Use playlistItems.list
Set playlistId to UU0XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX from step 2
Go through each PlaylistItem and pull out the video id
In the meantime, there is a much easier way:
Use the channels.list
set forUsername = [CHANNELNAME]
set part = contentDetails
grab $data->items[0]->contentDetails->relatedPlaylists->uploads --> [PLAYLISTID]
Use playlistItems.list
Set playlistId = [PLAYLISTID] from step 1
Go through each PlaylistItem and pull out the video ids
