Apple Development: add UDID to provisioning profile without Apple development membership? - ios

I'm trying to use Diawi to distribute my test iOS app within my team and Diawi gave me "unable to download" error. I'm aware that I have to add the other members device's UDID into my provisioning profile.
However, I have not enroll in Apple Dev Program since it's 99$/Year. So is there any alternative to which I can distribute my app without spending 99$?

Cant run myApp.ipa after installing it from Diawi

I created an app using react native, I have tested it on my IOS devices by connecting them with xcode, but now i want to share myApp with others to test it. To do that I generated myApp.ipa file by archiving, simply I just navigate to Product -> Application -> myapp, after archive is done, i copied the file to a folder named Payload after compressing the file, changed the Payload.zip to myApp.ipa after that I upload it to the Diawi website then got the link, installed the app on my ios device but unfortunately i cant run it? myApp is shaded with black, and nothing is there in Setting -> General -> Profiles. what did i do wrong? or if there is a simple way to let other test myApp.ipa please share.
Your app is blacked out because the iOS device won't run any unsigned apps. Your app cannot be signed without a provisioning profile.
You cannot install an app on an iOS device without a provisioning profile. The only way to get a provisioning profile is to have either a paid developer account or an enterprise account.
To install an app on an iOS device without submitting to the app store requires use of either an ad-hoc or enterprise provisioning profile
ad-hoc
The only way to get an ad-hoc provisioning profile is to have a paid developer account. $99 per year. https://developer.apple.com/programs/
ad-hoc profiles have limits to the number of different devices that they can be installed on.
enterprise
The only way yo get an enterprise provisioning profile is to have an enterprise account. $299 per year https://developer.apple.com/programs/enterprise/
enterprise profiles don't have the same restrictions on the number of devices as ad-hoc profiles but you cannot submit to the app-store with an enterprise account.

Distributing IPA file with App-store signing

So I'm not using enterprise distribution profile to archive and export my project into IPA file.
I am using a valid distribution certificate though.
On XCode organizer I've made sure that everything is valid by clicking on the validate button for my particular archive before exporting it using the exact same distribution certificate and distribution provisioning profile. Also, I've made sure that I checked App Store as the method of distribution.
So I assumed everything checked out, then I distributed the IPA through diawi.
This is what I used to distribute my development IPA at the early stage of this project. However, upon opening the diawi link, installation just failed on my device saying "Unable to download" every single time.
Now I'm just wondering is it not at all possible to distribute through diawi if I'm not using enterprise distribution profile to build the ipa itself?
Or am I building it the wrong way for the intended purpose?
I'm very new to this whole Apple environment so not sure if I'm understanding the process correctly. I'm developing this from a react native project in case you need to know.
Thanks in advance for any pointers! :D
EDIT:
There seems to be confusion in the answers so far. Just to clarify, I'm NOT using enterprise distribution profile nor I am using development provisioning profile. So adding UDID to the provisioning profile is not an option. The case I'm asking about is for ipa signed with app store distribution provisioning profile which I'm trying to share using diawi. It doesn't seem to be possible to distribute ipa signed this way with diawi based on my research, but I just wanna be extra sure. Sorry for the confusion. :)
You need to have the UDID of downloading device added to the provisional profile. Login to your apple developer account and check if the device is added or no. If not add that device and then update the provisional profile by selecting that new UDID. Download the updated profile and the build.
Turns out it's true that diawi can only distribute in-house apps (signed using enterprise program account) and development provisioning profile signed apps.
The reason what I'm trying to do is not working (not installing through diawi) is because I'm trying to distribute an app signed with classic apple account's distribution provisioning profile instead of development provisioning profile
As far as I my googling went yesterday, apps signed with distribution provisioning profile under classic account is only distributable through app store or test flight.
Let me know if I miss anything.

Is there any way to add testing device UDID to free provisioning profile?

I don't have paid developer account and want to test my ios app on a team member's iPhone which is not registered to my provisioning profile. Is there any way to register a new device without deploying from the code directly.
I got a solution for this... May not be a proper solution... Still if it can help..,
If you connect your device to mac and refresh your free provisioning profile in xcode with selecting connected device for running, in xcode that will automatically register your device to your provisioning profile. And you can access one provisioning profile on multiple mac by using same apple id and bundle identifier.
Note: you can register maximum 5 devices to a free provisioning profile.
For Now you can not add UDID of a device in Free developer account, since a free account has no access to the Certificates, Identifiers, and Profiles in the developers portal.
But you can install the app by connecting (multiple, I guess upto three) device(s) with your Xcode.
Free apple developer account dose not allow for create any development or distribution certificate and it is also not allow to add any UDID until enroll (99$ per year).
You can refer to this link:

Issue regarding provisioning profile ios

As I am new to iOS, I don't know much about it. So please help me
First someone tell me , what is the purpose of provisioning profile.
Second, is it possible to create a provisioning profile without having an Apple Developer Membership??
Help would be appreciated..
Provisioning profile is impossible to obtain without Apple Developer Membership.
Nevertheless Provisioning profile is required to test application on real devices and use it to upload application it to App store.
Provision profile is :
A provisioning profile is a collection of digital entities that
uniquely ties developers and devices to an authorized iPhone
Development Team and enables a device to be used for testing. A
Development Provisioning Profile must be installed on each device on
which you wish to run your application code. Each Development
Provisioning Profile will contain a set of iPhone Development
Certificates, Unique Device Identifiers and an App ID. Devices
specified within the provisioning profile can be used for testing only
by those individuals whose iPhone Development Certificates are
included in the profile. A single device can contain multiple
provisioning profiles.
Take a look on this link please , the author explains everything regardless the provisioning profile .
http://www.doubleencore.com/2013/04/what-is-a-provisioning-profile-part-1/
However you can not get a provisional profile without the Apple Developer Membership.
Also if you want to test you app on a real device or publish it to app store you must have a provisional profile.
"A provisioning profile is a collection of digital entities that uniquely ties developers and devices to an authorized iPhone Development Team and enables a device to be used for testing. A Development Provisioning Profile must be installed on each device on which you wish to run your application code. A single device can contain multiple provisioning profiles."
No, it is not possible to create a provision profile without Apple Developer Membership. If you are deploying an ios App you need to get registered with APPLE.
You need to register your devices' UDIDs in the provisioning profile if you are testing your app and if you want to use it for Ad-hocs.
If you want to submit your app to appstore, then also you will require a provision profile attached with your app having 0 devices i.e infinite devices.
Here is the way you can register and make Provision Profiles:
How to create provision profiles?
Ans 1 : To run or test the application in ios device provisional profile is
must require.
Without it you can not run/test/install in your device. For this you have
to buy Apple Developer Membership from Apple
to became apple registered developer.
After successfully registration below link will useful to create provisional profile.
Link : http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Provisioning-Profile-for-iPhone
After downloading provisional profile you have to install and set that profile in your code.
After you can run application in ios device.
Ans 2 : No, Without Apple Developer Membership you can not create provisional profile.

Install iPhone application in my device

I was recently developing an iPhone application using Xcode. Now I want to install this app on my iPhone in order to test it.How can I do this? could you tell me please a step by step answer because I am new to this.
I have already created an account on the
iPhone Dev Center
now what is the next step?
As per Apple guidelines:
To test your app on a variety of devices and iOS versions, create a special distribution provisioning profile, called an ad hoc provisioning profile, and send it, along with the app, to testers. An ad hoc provisioning profile doesn’t require that testers be enrolled in an Apple Developer Program, be added to your team, create signing certificates, or use Xcode to run your app. Instead, app testers simply install the app and the ad hoc provisioning profile on their device to launch the app. You can then collect and analyse crash reports or logs from these testers to resolve problems before you ship your app.
Can I do what is mentioned here? and if yes how ?
go to memeber login area and login with your credential..
go to certificate , Identifiers & Profile tab
go to keychain access and create a .csr file and save it, it'll
required for creating certificates
create a certificate from certificate tab
create App Ids from identifier tab
Register your device UDID from Devices tab
Create distribution profile from Provisioning Profile tab and download & save it.
Install the Provisioning profile to your device and build your project using that profile.
Archive your project and create .ipa file
Final step: Install that .ipa file to your device.
Hope it'll help you. Happy Coding.....
With the free account you can not test/run apps on a device.
