im getting into RN and i want to install my app into my device (production) to take it to anywhere... but i dont know why i cant finish the process, some errors show up.
I'm reading step by step the guide from here: https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/running-on-device.html
Using the release method from the guide, i got this error:
main.jsbundle does not exist. This must be a bug with React Native
And i tried the CLI too (react-native run-ios --configuration Release) and the command is looking for index.js
"Cannot find entry file index.js in any of the roots"
The thing is, I tried some weeks ago with a version of RN where I can have an index.ios.js and index.android.js, and now, i'm using RN 0.50.3 and I just have an App.js, there is not more index.ios.js/index.android.js, and that is ok the documentaion is talking about just one file called App.js...
but why is the RN 0.50.3 searching for a index.js?
Why the index.js is missing in my project?, how i can fix this things?
I'm using:
MAC
react-native-cli: 2.0.1
react-native: 0.50.3
Thanks!

I'm trying to build and run an iOS simulator version of the getting started React Native project from the instructions at:
https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/getting-started.html
The app launches in the XCode simulator, displays it's window very briefly but then an exception occurs that opens a red screen with the message
"Requiring unknown module "498".If you are sure the module is there,
try restarting Metro Bundler. You may also want to run yarn, or npm
install (depending on your environment).
loadModuleImplementation require.js:176:29
viewPropTypes.js:15:30
loadModuleImplementation require.js:212:12
View.js:20:22
loadModuleImplementation require.js:212:12
AppContainer.js:22:13"
etc
Line 15 of ViewPropTypes is
const PlatformViewPropTypes = require('PlatformViewPropTypes');
Line 20 of node_modules/react_native/Libraries/Components/Views/View.js is
const ViewPropTypes = require('ViewPropTypes');
Note: There is another, 15 line View.js files in the directory structure at node_modules/react_native/lib/ it's basically a stub containing
// This is a forwarding module to allow React to require React Native internals
// as node dependency
module.exports = require('View');
I'm on the latest of everything, MacOS High Sierra (10.13.4), XCode 9.3 with 9.3 command line tools installed. I've tried running yarn and npm install, and a fresh install. Obviously I have NPM and Watchman installed. Any ideas why the stock example won't run for me?
Newbie mistake. I had previously attempted to build a different React Native project in a different directory, and Metro Bundler was still pointed at the previous project. As the error message suggested, restarting Metro Bundler fixed the problem.
Also didn't realize the errors in the exception screen were tappable, they take you right into the Metro Bundler terminal process for more detail. Hope this helps someone else too!
In my case, just close all the related process, and re-run react-native run-android solved the problem.
refer to: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/11568
I had the same issue.
In my case, while creating a reusable component, I wasn't importing React into the file,as I was not using them(in functional component) in the component file.
Turns out that jsx to React Element conversion happens per file/module basis, so we should import React and component in every file.
Including Both React and Component normally, solved the problem.
For me I got "955" error. And a simple solution was to
import React, {Component} from "react";
This is a long shot, but I've taken over a project done in RN v .38 and I need to update a library and resolve the build issues without updating the version of react native. I'm trying to update the react-native-aws-cognito-js library and while it looks to be compatible with the formatting change of import statements, I'm still not able to get it to build on IOS. Android is fine.
To reproduce my issue I did the following:
react-native init sample --version 0.38.0
cd sample
npm install react-native-aws-cognito-js
react-native link react-native-aws-cognito-js
react-native run-ios
Which fails with:
/node_modules/react-native-aws-cognito-js/ios/RNAWSCognito.h:4:9:
fatal error: 'React/RCTBridgeModule.h' file not found #import
Mobile and RN development is not my wheelhouse, but I'm hoping there is some sort of xcode configuration or tricks I can do to get this working and avoid a major overhaul. Running an upgrade to >.40 would probably take too long and also cause other compatibility issues that I don't have the time to resolve.
Note: I have tried the suggestions in `React/RCTBridgeModule.h` file not found
I have been using React Native for the past 4 of months working both on Android and IOS. According to React Native Docs there will be an updated version of React Native every month. So, I keep updating it every month which is good, but the problem is I am using a couple of npm packages which is getting outdated due to react-native update which in-turn causes errors in my project.
For Android, we can lock the react-native version by specifying the version number in gradle. And for the Javascript part we can lock it in package.json. But for IOS I am not able to find anything like that.
So, is there way to lock the react-native version in IOS xcode?
Yes, make your package.json file at root path - react-native version to fixed number. for example:
"dependencies": {
"react-native": "0.50.4",
}
So every time you do npm install, that given version will be installed. without postfix ^ it will never be upgraded.
The react-native version of iOS is just a project / static library import from node_module/react-native/Libraries folder, via react-native link.
Update 1:
Take RCTAnimation.xcodeproj in project for example,
you can find it locate at node_modules/react-native/Libraries/NativeAnimation/RCTAnimation.xcodeproj.
I had a old React-Native project which I wanted to give it a try again and when trying to run the project on iOS (Android works perfect) I get the error that Debug-iphonesimulator/GeneratedInfoPlistDotEnv.h file not found.
If I run the project from the command react-native run-ios, than the build will succeed.
What can cause this issue and how can it be fixed?
I have tried to fix it with the comments from this issue but no success.
React-Native verision: 0.47
Full error:
<built-in>:1:10: fatal error:
'/Users/myUser/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/Project-gcaxrvbcwgkfhkadevoqxcprxszw/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator/GeneratedInfoPlistDotEnv.h' file not found
I fixed by copying file GeneratedInfoPlistDotEnv.h (in /ios/build/Build/Products/) to the path mentioned in the error message.
The path mentioned in error message for simulator is not same as real phone, you need to copy for a second time.
The development for React Native just like droped in a deep black hole, what you need to do is just climb and climb and climb...
Changing the Info.plist preprocessor prefix file to works for me ${CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR}/../GeneratedInfoPlistDotEnv.h

If you're coming from React version 0.60 and above, you should be referencing the package from GitHub instead of NPM. The author hasn't released auto-linking support on NPM yet, even though it's already merged!?
Try these steps after you unlink and uninstall the existing version of react-native-config. Remember to revert to default Info.plist preprocessor settings in XCode build settings.
yarn add https://github.com/luggit/react-native-config.git
cd ios && pod install
You don't have to add any other post-install scripts, just run the app like usual and it should work fine. Make sure you undo any other fixes before doing this.
I'm cloning a proyect:
The steps are:
npm i
react-native link
When i run it react-native run-ios i have a problem with RCTWebSocket library. This problem is easy to resolve if you search a little just need remove 2 compiler flags, in Custom Compiler Flags.
Later just i run again react-native run-ios and works fine, but when the app is open, show the next error:
Searching i found that is related to upgrade, source here
but i'm using that command and not works.
When this command is executed, it starts showing me some overrides to some files and at the end of this process, the problem persists.
My react info:
react-native-cli: 1.0.0
react-native: 0.32.1
I'm running in Xcode 8 and ios 10.0
PDTA: When I start a new project works perfect
UPDATES:
When clone on another mac works, I am ensuring to have the same versions of both xcode and node.
Could it be some mac configuration problem?
The only difference between the 2 macs is the cli version:
`react-native-cli: 1.1.0` --> my mac
`react-native-cli: 1.2.0` --> the other mac
Will this be enough to cause all this problem?
With React 0.32~0.37: The problem is most likely that you are using React 15.4.x instead of 15.3.x. One of the changes between 15.3 and 15.4 was that many of the modules under react/lib were moved to react-dom/lib, which is why the packager can't find react/lib/ReactUpdates.
Ensure that your package.json file locks React to 15.3.x:
"dependencies": {
"react": "~15.3.2"
}
Then delete your node_modules folder and run yarn or npm install again. Verify that you installed React 15.3.x:
$ npm ls react
app#1.0.0 /code/app
└── react#15.3.2
Last, restart the React Native server and load your bundle again.
This has been fixed!
Update your dependencies and use react-native ^0.38.0 or newer.
Run react-native upgrade after all react-native version upgrades.
