When I assign my textfield's placeholder value in the attributes inspector, it won't show in the storyboard, however, when I run a simulator of the application is is there. Is there a setting I'm missing? I just want to be able to see the placeholder text in the editor. Below is a screenshot of xcode and one of the simulator
I am having the same issue, fortunately I run a MacBook with Xcode 9.1(9B55) and an iMac with Xcode 9.2(9C40b)
On my MacBook all placeholders show up but on iMac they don't.
So the issue is with xCode 9.2 running High Sierra.

Hi, I have downloaded Poppins font from fonts.google.com and the problem is it's not showing in the font family dropdown(refer to the attached picture). I have declared it in my Info.plist, Project Target and still the problem occurs
This is expected behavior. The storyboard editor knows nothing of any custom fonts you may have installed for the app.
I am using Xcode 13.3 and I cannot change my devices preview like I desire. I mean there are some different types of model but the model that I desire does not seem on the list. I attached the picture below.
Storyboard Screen - Click
On the previous XCode version, I used to do this easily, but not for XCode 13.3. I can change the simulator's view and add new devices but storyboard.
Is there any solution?
After installing the new beta xCode. The custom font set in an existing project does not work. When opening the storyboard file, it says as shown in image below
After clocking ok, I'm not able to choose custom font from the attribute inspector.
It was working fine with xcode 10.2. This issue occurs only on Xcode 11 beta
I had the same issue after I switched system language, and it was fixed by restarting the system and then restarting Xcode.
I've also had this issue.
I had to change the text style to attributed, pick the font, then change back to plain.
2022 Update!
You don't need to restart your system. Just perform these simple steps to solve this issue.
Open Spotlight (Cmd + space) and type Font Book
Drag-Drop your font into the Font Book.
Restart Xcode and it'll work fine.
I am having an issue with IBDesignable elements not appearing in the storyboard view. It seems to be particular to my machine/version of Xcode (2015 11" Macbook Air running MacOS 10.14.4 and Xcode 10.2.1) and not an error in the code, as the same project displays fine when run on a 13" Retina (Xcode 9.2). It also displays correctly in the simulator.
I have tried cleaning and rebuilding the project, creating a new project, restarting Xcode, restarting the computer, deleting derived data, and updating to the latest version of Xcode but have had no success.
When I attempt to run Editor > Debug Selected Views, I get the following error: "Could not attach to pid: #### Error 1."
Below is an image showing my IBDesignable class and the resulting storyboard presentation.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE:
I also noticed that when I select the designable view, the inspector reads "Designables Updating," as in the image below:
This finally solved my problem:

To sum up, I enabled Editor > Automatically Refresh Views and then clicked Editor > Refresh All Views.
Verify if the code in your draw function is correct.
I have a serious problem on XCode. I can not see my storyboards correctly even they are full of elements. Sometimes elements are visible after I restart the XCode but later it happens again. Another issue is that even I change fonts or change locations of elements its not visible on storyboard until I restart the XCode.
XCode version is: 8.2.1 (8C1002)
You can see in the image that storyboard is transparent.
