Use of unresolved identifier 'displayAlertMessage' - ios

I tried the moved the code around a bit. The errors I got was use of local variable displayMessage before its declaration. So I moved the func displayAlertMessage above the display an alert Message comment, the new error is use of unresolved identifier 'displayAlertMessage'

Your displayAlertMessage function definition needs to be outside of the other functions in your class.
Also, please note that Swift does not require semicolons!
Try this:
import UIKit
class RegisterPageViewController: UIViewController {
#IBOutlet weak var userEmailTextField: UITextField!
#IBOutlet weak var userPasswordTextField: UITextField!
#IBOutlet weak var ReenterPasswordTextField: UITextField!
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
// Do any additional setup after loading the view.
}
override func didReceiveMemoryWarning() {
super.didReceiveMemoryWarning()
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#IBAction func RegisterButtonTapped(_ sender: Any) {
let userEmail = userEmailTextField.text
let userPassword = userPasswordTextField.text
let userReenterPassword = ReenterPasswordTextField.text
// Check for empty fields
if((userEmail?.isEmpty)! || (userPassword?.isEmpty)! ||
(userReenterPassword?.isEmpty)!)
{
//Display alert message
displayAlertMessage(userMessage: "All fields are required")
return;
}
//Check if passwords match
if(userPassword != userReenterPassword)
{
// Display an alert message
displayAlertMessage(userMessage: "Passwords do not match")
return;
}
// Store data
UserDefaults.standard.set(userEmail, forKey:"userEmail")
UserDefaults.standard.set(userEmail, forKey:"userPassword")
UserDefaults.standard.synchronize()
// Display an alert message
displayAlertMessage(userMessage: "Registration is successful.Thank you!")
}
func displayAlertMessage(userMessage: String) {
let myAlert = UIAlertController(title:"Alert", message: userMessage, preferredStyle: UIAlertControllerStyle.alert)
let okAction = UIAlertAction(title:"Ok", style: UIAlertActionStyle.default) {
action in
self.dismiss(animated: true, completion:nil)
}
myAlert.addAction(okAction);
self.present(myAlert, animated: true, completion: nil)
}
}

Swift 3 - Thread 1: Signal SIGABRT

I am attempting to change views in the simulator via a button click but keep getting the error:
Thread 1: signal SIGABRT
I am aware that this usually occurs when there is a disconnect with outlets or actions but I have checked and they all seem to be linked.

I am sure the issue is something fairly obvious but I have only been working with Swift for 3 months and it is my first programming language. I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks for your time.
SAME ERROR
Hey guys, I've been trying my best to sort this myself but cannot get to grips with it. After the initial response from #Vadian solved the issue of the IBActions, I have still been receiving the same SIGABRT error.
Error Info
2016-10-06 17:18:33.709206 Truegram[13130:1026640] [MobileAssetError:29] Unable to copy asset information from https://mesu.apple.com/assets/ for asset type com.apple.MobileAsset.TextInput.SpellChecker

2016-10-06 17:18:53.120 Truegram[13130:1026284] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'The class PFUser must be registered with registerSubclass before using Parse.'
I think the above is most relevant to the error and this seems to be vindicated as the error occurs after pressing 'sign up'
I have also added another sign up page, specific to businesses that might be causing the issue.

This has now taken me a couple of days attempting to fix, so I would be very appreciative if anyone could help.
The crucial information is
[Truegram.signUpVC signupBtnClick:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x7f9d0700cff0'
In Swift 3 IBActions are supposed to be declared with an underscore to omit the parameter label.
#IBAction func signupBtnClick(_ sender: AnyObject)

Validating Textfield in iOS

I am trying to validate my credentials(username and password). For some reason the code never enters into the first if loop even when I leave the username and password field empty and click on the Login button.
Attaching the code and a screenshot as well.
Can someone help me fix this.?
import UIKit
class FirstViewController: UIViewController {
#IBOutlet weak var NameField: UITextField!
#IBOutlet weak var PasswordField: UITextField!
#IBAction func textFieldDoneEditing(sender: UITextField){
sender.resignFirstResponder()
}
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
// let stringkey = NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults()
// NameField.text = stringkey.stringForKey("savedusername")
}
override func didReceiveMemoryWarning() {
super.didReceiveMemoryWarning()
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#IBAction func LogIn(sender: AnyObject) {
//let myText = NameField.text;
//NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults().setObject(myText, forKey: "savedusername")
//NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults().synchronize()
if(NameField == "" || PasswordField == "")
{
let alert = UIAlertController(title: nil , message: "Invalid Credentials!", preferredStyle: UIAlertControllerStyle.Alert)
alert.addAction(UIAlertAction(title: "OK", style: .Cancel, handler: nil))
self.presentViewController(alert, animated: true, completion: nil)
}
if(NameField != "" && PasswordField != ""){
let alert = UIAlertController(title: nil , message: "Login Successfull", preferredStyle: UIAlertControllerStyle.Alert)
alert.addAction(UIAlertAction(title: "OK", style: .Cancel, handler: nil))
self.presentViewController(alert, animated: true, completion: nil)
}
}
}
You're comparing the UITextField to "" rather than its text property.
Try NameField.text etc instead.
In swift below code through we can check textfield empty or not.
if textfield.text?.characters.count == 0 {
print("Empty")
}else {
print("Not Empty")
}
You have tried to compare UITextfield with NSString So your Code will never execute according to Your condition.
Try Using Below code
#IBAction func LogIn(sender: AnyObject) {
if(NameField.text == "" || PasswordField.text == "")
{
//Please Enter valid credential...
}
if(NameField.text != "" && PasswordField.text != ""){
//Login successfully...
}
}

Unknown Selector Issue

I am attempting to create a sign up page where people put such info as their email and desired password, after this is completed I want to switch to the next view controller however, I am getting the following error

You need to change your signupButton method declaration with signUpButton because inside your declaration u is lower latter for up you need to change it with Up because method name and property name are case sensitive or else change to selector with this signupButton one where you are adding target for button.

codes are not dismissing keyboard

I added resignFirstResponder and touchesBegan to my code but the keyboard is not dismissing. I already checked the delegate and assigned delegate to textfields but still no sign of dismissing.
Please help spot the error? (i'm guessing it might be about multiple textFields?)

When user taps "Return" key on the keyboard
As you already added the UITextFieldDelegate, try modifying this code :
func textFieldShouldReturn(textField: UITextField!) -> Bool {
self.UsernameTextField.resignFirstResponder();
self.EmailTextField.resignFirstResponder();
self.PasswordTextField.resignFirstResponder();
return true;
}
This will work when the user taps the button return on the keyboard.
Your mistake is as you said handling multiple text fields. Also you have to say which one you want to resignFirstResponder().
When user taps screen
User could also dismiss the keyboard by tapping anywhere on the screen.
Here we have a UITapGestureRecognizer that detects the tap to dismiss keyboard. It is an alternative solution.
override func viewDidLoad() {
super.viewDidLoad()
let tap: UITapGestureRecognizer = UITapGestureRecognizer(target: self, action: "dismissKeyboard")
view.addGestureRecognizer(tap)
}
func dismissKeyboard() {
view.endEditing(true)
}

UIAlert does not working with NSNotification

I put Reachability.swift file in my app, when Internet reachability is changed, I want to alert to user that internet connection is not available.
this is my code.
import UIKit
import Parse
class ViewController: UIViewController {
var reachability : Reachability?
var myAlert = UIAlertController()
#IBOutlet weak var label: UILabel!
#IBOutlet weak var textField: UITextField!
override func viewDidAppear(animated: Bool) {
super.viewDidAppear(true)
do {
let reachability = try Reachability.reachabilityForInternetConnection()
self.reachability = reachability
} catch ReachabilityError.FailedToCreateWithAddress(let address) {
}
catch {}
NSNotificationCenter.defaultCenter().addObserver(self, selector: "HeyUserInternetDoesntWork", name: ReachabilityChangedNotification, object: nil)
}
override func didReceiveMemoryWarning() {
super.didReceiveMemoryWarning()
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
#IBAction func saveButtonTapped(sender: AnyObject) {
let save = PFObject(className: "Practice")
save["text"] = textField.text
save.saveInBackgroundWithBlock { (success: Bool, error: NSError?) -> Void in
print("Object has been saved.")
}
}
dynamic func HeyUserInternetDoesntWork() {
if reachability!.isReachable() {
} else {
myAlert = UIAlertController(title: "No internet", message: "no good", preferredStyle: UIAlertControllerStyle.Alert)
let okAction = UIAlertAction(title: "Ok", style: UIAlertActionStyle.Default, handler: nil)
myAlert.addAction(okAction) }
}
}
this is not working, I got an error that
Attempting to load the view of a view controller while it is deallocating is not allowed and may result in undefined behaviour
I don't understand what this mean.
If I put code that print("unreachable") will work fine.
My question
what is meaning of that error?
How I can make my alert works?
If there is other way to let user know Internet connectivity,
please let me know.
try to add this line under alert
(self.presentViewController(myAlert, animated: true, completion: nil))
