It seems that the wikimapia API isn't working at the moment.
I'm wondering whether there's a way to obtain location data from wikimapia without using the API, e.g. by parsing the webpage source code.
For example, let's say I want to obtain the locations of the train stations in the northwest of Italy.
These can easily be displayed on wikimapia (by showing category "train station", category (tag) id 44751).
Can this information be extracted from the page linked to above without recourse to the API?

I am trying to collect a large list of YouTube's most watched videos for a data science application. I tried to use the YouTube Data API with the following query:
https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/search&order=viewCount&type=video®ionCode=US&key=API_KEY,
but it does not seem to give me the same video ideas as in this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-viewed_YouTube_videos
Could someone tell me how I should do it?
Using the Search.list API endpoint is one way to search for the most viewed videos pertaining to a given region.
There's another endpoint -- Videos.list -- that, when queried with chart set to mostPopular, gives back:
chart (string)
The chart parameter identifies the chart that you want to retrieve.
Acceptable values are:
mostPopular – Return the most popular videos for the specified content region and video category.
As per the specification of videoCategoryId:
By default, charts are not restricted to a particular category.
Therefore, you may safely invoke Videos.list with chart=mostPopular and regionCode=US, without passing to it any videoCategoryId.
These two are the only API means that accomplish the task described by your post.
I need to extract data from the adwords API to allow me to see the impact of different attribution models on conversion. I'm visualising my adwords data in the Klipfolio tool. My adwords account is set up to use the position based model but I'd also like to show last click conversions. This is essentially the data which is available in the adwords manager interface. I'm making my API calls via the supermetrics tool but can also create them directly in Klipfolio.
I'm not entirely familiar with the adwords query language but it does look like that there is a field for attribution type.
I've got as far as extracting data via this, using the Klipfolio interface:
SELECT
Date,Conversions,ConversionTypeName
FROM CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
DURING {date.add(-7).format('yyyyMMdd')},{date.today.format('yyyyMMdd')}
Exactly what I'm looking for is WHERE function where I can specify a different type of attribution model from the current.
I cannot obtain this data from our Google Analytics data as our conversion data from GA is, unfortunately, duplicated. We're using the adword's conversion tags de-duplication functions to get around this issue.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could share an example of how an API request could look with the attribution model field present or, indeed, give some feedback on whether this is even possible.
Hi you can find more information about the CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT report here
You can find there the WHERE and SELECT fields like this:
SELECT CampaignName, Clicks, Impressions, Cost
FROM CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
WHERE Impressions < 10
DURING LAST_30_DAYS'
Usually the reason for the duplications it's the selection of SELECT parameters, but I cannot say this for sure without more information.
I'm wanting to do something with my application I have currently.
I currently have a bunch of events with names inside of places/venues
I'm wondering how I can get these places/venues to convert into lat/long for me to use elsewhere.
e.g. my data show I have Scarborough Open Air Theatre. How can I get the lat/long of this with only this bit of data?
I'm Using Rails

I was trying to display a MKMapView showing all the museums in a city. I haven't understood if this is a built in feature of the maps or I need to get the data somewhere else. Online I was seeing an example of government databases providing the information and location and then this was being added to the map. Does the map have this feature built in?
Nope, this is not built-in feature of the map (in apple map). But you have to make a filter (Query) that can fetch response what you needs (response will be in JSON format) and manipulate it in your map as a Annotaion.
I am developing an Android application that uses the geonames.org database. I only use the city/populated place category and their corresponding coordinates as provided by geonames.
I want the user to be able to provide his/her GPS coordinates and get a result back with the closest cities/populated places and their coordinates.
Even if the user is in a city I want that city's coordinates to be displayed along with the more distant ones.
Can this be done without the help of google or a web service? I might host the world city geolocations on my own server.
Thanks!
Since posting this I have found the answer to my own question. MongoDB supports geospatial indexing. Make sure that the longitude and latitude field is saved in one string and point the geospatial index to your loc: field. You can then perform queries with a bounding box to find closest locations within a certain radius for example. More about MongoDB geospatial indexing can be found here: http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Geospatial+Indexing
