I can't seem to get the latitude and longitude to show up on the labels. I've tried many things though I'm guessing it might be something simple.

You did not change the value of the location variable of your class, which would trigger the text change of the label. Append this to didUpdateLocations:
self.location = location
Use this

You need to use MKTileOverlay - documentation is here...
As it says:

The error I'm getting is "Downcast from 'CLLocation?' to 'CLLocation' only unwraps optionals; did you mean to use '!'?
on line let location = locations.last as! CLLocation
You are force-casting an Optional CLLocationto CLLocation, that is why Swift suggests to simply force unwrap it:
let location = locations.last!
This version (and yours) will crash if locations is empty.
Thus I recommend to never force unwrap anything and use guardinstead:

return

I'm new to app development and I'm trying to get the user location to come up in the simulator but I keep getting the Use of unresolved identifier error. Error: Use of unresolved identifier
Your let region:MKCoordinateRegion is a local identifier inside your delegate method:
func locationManager(_:didUpdateLocations) {...}
This is why you are getting Use of unresolved identifier. Make this identifier accessible throughout the class, the error will be gone. Like:

And more important if you are using simulator then you have to enable location simulation.
I am trying to add annotations to multiple locations on the Map. I am using Simulator with iPhone 6 selected as the Device. However when I drag the map to other locations in order to add annotations, it keeps coming back to the base location.i.e the original location the simulator displayed at the launch ( note: I have imported CoreLocation, add added NSLocationAlways and WheninUse to the info.plist).
How do I let it stay at the location I drag the map to ?

Just figured out that, with the Simulator selected , navigate to Debug--> Location and Select 'None'. This fixed the issue. I can now drag to different locations without getting back to the base location.

Hi Sometimes setting the showsUserLocation in code doesn't work for some weird reason.
So try a combination of the following.
