I want to navigate a site using watir. I can't find nor focus on an element to click on it. It's the Next link on top right of this url:
Companies
How can I test that the link exists and can focus on it to click it?
The link HTML is:
<a id="view:_id1:_id258:pager6__Next__lnk" href="#" title="Go to next page:">Next</a>
The identifiable attributes seem to be the id (being careful of the auto-generated portions) or the title. The link could be located by either:
browser.link(title: 'Go to next page:') # using title
browser.link(id: /Next__lnk/) # using partial id
You can check if the link is available by checking if it is present:
browser.link(title: 'Go to next page:').present?
You can click with:
browser.link(title: 'Go to next page:').click
I'm trying trying to link to specific sections of the page below using the ID anchor tags. You can see they work when you're on this page: http://lastergroup.com/epe/epe19-240/dev/education.html, but when you navigate to other pages of this site, and click on any of the links on that dropdown menu, none work. What am I doing wrong? I have my IDs and links in place:
<div id="solarenergy">
Solar Energy
I found what was happening. After some research I learned that I have to use the anchor right before the div section I want to link to:
<a name="div1"></a>
Link
I want to add an hyperlink or a button in my FitNesse page.
On click of this link or button a popup window with some HTML content should open.
Please let me know if this is possible in FitNesse? If yes, how to achieve this?
I tried to search on FitNesse website but could not get information.
Adding a link to a wiki page is easy: just type the link, or use [[word or phrase][url]]. But this will not open a pop-up. I don't know how to achieve that by just using the wiki.
In a Slim fixture's result you can return any HTML (sometimes you will have to surround it with <div></div>), so you can return ... and in the test result there will be a hyperlink that will open in a new tab...
echo "<td align = 'center'><a href='edit/edit_rrdalert.php?id=".$alertid .
"&title=".$inst_title."&cat=".$categories["$cat"]."'target='_blank'>edit </a>";
I want to open the link in a new tab as edit/edit_rrdalert.php?id.
It shouldn't be your call to decide whether the link should open in a new tab or a new window, since ultimately this choice should be done by the settings of the user's browser. Some people like tabs, some other like new windows.
Using _blank will tell the browser to use a new tab/window, depending on the user's browser configuration, and also depending on how they click on the link (middle click, ctrl+click, normal click).
but if you wish to do it set the target attribute of your element to "_tab"
EDIT: It works, however W3Schools says there is no such target attribute: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp
I have a select option list and im using jQuery Mobile. My list is very long so Id like to give users the option of searching the list by typing in text.
Is there some native / jQuery Mobile way of adding a text search when you focus on the list? If not I guess instead on an input ill need to create a link to a new page with a filter list, and use javascript to populate the 'input' with the value selected.

The short answer is no, unless you want to go nuts editing the JQM code to add that feature to the select box. That being said, I also had this problem (with the select menus being way too long), and here's what I did:
For one scenario, I used an autocomplete search box (that had results drop down: http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/) in addition to the select menu, populated with the data in the select menu. That way the user could choose whether to use the select menu or search.
For a second scenario, I allowed the user to search for something, then brought up a menu (really a dialog plugin) with only the results that matched what they searched for.
Hope this helps.
Personally, I could not get the jqueryui autocomplete to work well with jQuery Mobile. But this autocomplete code from Andy Matthews worked well:

Used in conjection with an input text field, it provides a way for users to type in a few characters and see a list of choices to select.
