Create a Google pull task queue from Java console application - task-queue

I'm not clear about how to create a pull queue in GCP from an outside application. I've found documentation about pulling messages but not about creating queues.
Can somebody point me out some information about it?

Creating queues from outside of an AppEngine App is currently not available.
Queue management features are coming in the new Cloud Tasks API, which is available in Alpha. You can request to join the Alpha here

Durable tasks sub orchestration with micro services

I'm attempting to use azure durable tasks to orchestrate some microservices but am running into a small gap in understanding how taskhubs work as well as coordinating the projects correctly.
I'm trying to create a main orchestrator that is in charge of kicking off sub orchestrations to do the actual work. Below is a diagram of what I'm trying to achieve.
The idea is that each .net Project will be able to scale independent of the other, so if .Net project 2 was under quite a bit of load I'd be able to scale that project only and not have to worry about the other 2 projects. The problem I'm running into is from what I understand the taskhub queue is shared by all the services so there is no way to have each process focus on only it's work, meaning each project can see everything in the queue and it may cause 1 project to dequeue a message intended for project 2. Is this correct?
From reading the documentation it doesn't seem clear that I can send project 2 it's sub orchestration messages as well as send project 3 it's specific orchestration.
Am I thinking about this problem incorrectly, is there a different way I might want to approach this?
What you want cannot be achieve.
As of now, Azure Function only allow orchestrator functions to call activity and sub-orchestrator functions that exist in the same function app. The main reason is a technical one: queues within a task hub are shared across all functions, so there's no way to guarantee that a message intended for FunctionAppA does not get picked up by FunctionAppB.
If cross-project communication is required, the correct method is to use http or queue.

Does spring-cloud-dataflow provide support for scheduling applications defined as tasks?

I have been looking at using projects built using spring-cloud-task within spring-cloud-dataflow. Having looked at the example projects and the documentation, the indication seems to be that tasks are launched manually through the dashboard or the shell. Does spring-cloud-dataflow provide any way of scheduling task definitions so that they can run for example on a cron schedule? I.e. Can you create a spring-cloud-task app which itself has no knowledge of a schedule, but deploy it to the dataflow server and configure the scheduling there?
Among the posts and blogs I have looked at I noticed the following:

Some of the Q&A afterwards hints at this being a possibility, with the reference to triggers, but I think this was discussed before it was released.

There are few ways you could launch Tasks in Spring Cloud Data Flow. Following are the available options today.
Launch it using TriggerTask; with this you could either choose to launch it with fixedDelay or via a cron expression - example here.
Launch it via an event in streaming pipeline. Imagine a use-case where you would want to create a "thumbnail" as and when there's a new image (event) in s3-bucket or in a file-system directory; the "thumbnail" operation could be a task in this case - example here.
Lastly, in the upcoming releases, we will port over "scheduler" functionality from Spring XD to Spring Cloud Data Flow.
Yes, Spring Cloud Data Flow does provide a scheduling option. To enable it, you need to add below arguments while starting the server:
--spring.cloud.dataflow.features.schedules-enabled=true

Sharing data between Elastic Beanstalk web and worker tiers

I have a platform (based on Rails 4/Postgres) running on an auto scaling Elastic Beanstalk web environment. I'm planning on offloading long running tasks (sync with 3rd parties, delivering email etc) to a Worker tier, which appears simple enough to get up and running.
However, I also want to run periodic batch processes. I've looked into using cron.yml and the scheduling seems pretty simple, however the batch process I'm trying to build needs to access the data from the web application to be able to work.
Does anybody have any opinion of the best way of doing this? Either a shared RDS database between web and worker tier, or perhaps a web service that the worker tier can access?

Unless you need a full relational database management system (RDBMS), consider using S3 for shared persistent data storage across your instances.
Also consider Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS):

iOS - Parse.com Export Data automation

I am using Parse.com as the backend for my iOS app. Parse has a big Export Data button for backing up your database that will send an email with a zip containing each table and its data in JSON format. That's great, but is there any way to automate this task? I want to be able to do this every night, and I know you can use Background Jobs for automated tasks, but is it possible to hook into this particular feature? I couldn't find an answer on Parse's forums and it didn't turn up anything except old threads talking about how this feature was on the horizon.
The best I can work out, without Parse providing a true way of achieving this, is to have a job creating File objects in a "backup" table. And then use an external service (with the REST API) to pull this out into S3 or similar.
It's not ideal, but it would work. Also, it will count against your API requests so you may want to optimise with the updated flag.
What I do for this issue is I am running a simple Windows Server in the AWS EC2 to run a scheduled task.

How to implement background processing for ASP.Net MVC website in a shared hosting environment?

I am developing my first web application using ASP.Net MVC, and I am in a situation where I would like a background service to process status notifications outside of the application, not unlike the reputation/badge system on stackoverflow.
What is the best way to handle something like this? Is it even possible in a shared-hosting environment like Godaddy, which I am using.
I don't need to communicate with the background worker directly, since I will be adding notification records to a database table with a column set to an "unprocessed" state. Then the worker will just scan the table on a regular schedule and processes what is ready.

it explains a nice way to schedule operations with no outer dependence.
The idea is to use Cache timeout to control the schedule. I've implemented it successfully on a project which required regular temp file cleaning. This cleaning is a bit heavy so we move this clean operation in a scheduled job (using the asp.net cache) to avoid having to deploy scheduled task or custom program.
To answer whether GoDaddy will support a seperate service you need to ask them.
However there are a number of creative ways that you can "get around" this issue on shared hosting.
Have a secure page that's purpose is to execute your background work. You could have scheduled task on a machine under your control that calls to this web page at set intervals.
Use a variation of the Background Worker Thread answer from #safi. Your background worker thread could check to see if another is already processing and stop, so that only one instance is running at a time.
If only one background task is enough for you then use the WebBackgrounder
