Identify the marked cell row ios - ios

I am trying to implement the select alarm day page, like the alarm screen in iPhone. I can mark multiple cells at a time but the problem is that when I mark row 1 & 2 I can't identify that the two rows are marked. Can anyone help me?
here is the screen, that I have implemented ]
NSUserDefaults *dd=[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults];
UITableViewCell *cell= [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:path];
if (path.row==0) {
if (cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark) {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
} else {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
[dd setObject:#"sun" forKey:#"key"];
day=#"sun";
}
}
if (path.row==1) {
if (Tablcell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark) {
Tablcell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
} else {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
day=#"mon";
[dd setObject:#"mon" forKey:#"key"];
}
[dd synchronize];
}

Step: 1
Create a mutual array
NSMutableArray *selectedIndexArray;
Step : 2
In didSelectItemAtIndexPath Method add index value in selectedIndexArray
NSString *str = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",(long)indexPath.item];
[selectedIndexArray addObject:str];
Step : 3
In didDeselectItemAtIndexPath Method remove index value from selectedIndexArray
NSString *str = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",(long)indexPath.item];
if([selectedIndexArray containsObject:str]){
[selectedIndexArray removeObject:str];
}
Step : 4
Now you can use this array to show / hide checked button in cell

How to implement only single cell selection in each section in the tableview in iOS, Objective C

I have a table view with 5 sections and I have set the tableview selection to multiple. Each section have different number of rows. What I want is to set that the user can select only one cell from each section(in my table user can select any number of cells).
ex: 5 cells from 5 sections.
It should be impossible to select more than one cell from any section. If user select another cell from same section, previously selected cell should be deselected. How can I do this. This is a sample implementation of didSelectRowAtIndexPath.
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
HoteldetalcelloneTableViewCell *cellone = (HoteldetalcelloneTableViewCell *)[self.detailtableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
HoteldetailcelltwoTableViewCell *celltwo = (HoteldetailcelltwoTableViewCell *)[self.detailtableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
//I have implement for two sections to test.
if(indexPath.section == 0)
{
HotelDetailsone *secone = [roomonearray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
HoteldetailsforBooking *book = [HoteldetailsforBooking new];
if([secone.offerallow isEqualToString:#"True"])
{
celltwo.selectedsignLabel.hidden = NO;
}
else
{
cellone.selectedsignLabelone.hidden = NO;
}
// [self.detailtableView reloadData];
NSLog(#"price for room 1 : %#", secone.itempriceText);
}
else
{
HotelDetailsone *sectwo = [roomtwoarray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
HoteldetailsforBooking *book = [HoteldetailsforBooking new];
if([sectwo.offerallow isEqualToString:#"True"])
{
celltwo.selectedsignLabel.hidden = NO;
}
else
{
cellone.selectedsignLabelone.hidden = NO;
}
// [self.detailtableView reloadData];
NSLog(#"price for room 1 : %#", sectwo.itempriceText);
}
}
You need to keep track on the selection of cell. So you need to store selected indexpath in array.
in ViewController.h declare property like this
#property(nonatomic,strong) NSMutableDictionary *selectionData;
Now in ViewController.m
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
self.selectionData=[[NSMutableDictionary alloc]init];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
TestTableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"mycell"];
if ([self.selectionData objectForKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",(long)indexPath.section] ] != nil) {
NSMutableArray *sectionData=[[self.selectionData objectForKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",(long)indexPath.section]] mutableCopy];
if (![sectionData containsObject:[NSNumber numberWithLong:indexPath.row]])
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
cell.numberlabel.text = #"2";
}
else
{
cell.numberlabel.text = #"***";
cell.accessoryType=UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
}
else
{
cell.numberlabel.text = #"2";
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone;
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSLog(#"selected section :%li ---> selected row :%li",(long)indexPath.section, (long)indexPath.row);
[self handleSelectionForSection:indexPath.section row:indexPath.row];
[self.tablev reloadData];
}
-(void)handleSelectionForSection:(long)sectionIndex row:(long)rowIndex
{
if ([self.selectionData objectForKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",sectionIndex] ] != nil) {
NSMutableArray *sectionData=[[self.selectionData objectForKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",sectionIndex]] mutableCopy];
if (![sectionData containsObject:[NSNumber numberWithLong:rowIndex]])
{
//removing previous selected rows
[sectionData removeAllObjects];
[sectionData addObject:[NSNumber numberWithLong:rowIndex]];
[self.selectionData setObject:sectionData forKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",sectionIndex]];
}
else
{
//cell you tapped is already selected,
// you can deselect it by removing object
//if you dont want to deselect it comment following lines
[sectionData removeObject:[NSNumber numberWithLong:rowIndex]];
[self.selectionData setObject:sectionData forKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",sectionIndex]];
}
}
else
{
//section key not available so we need to create it
NSMutableArray *sectionData=[[NSMutableArray alloc]init];
[sectionData addObject:[NSNumber numberWithLong:rowIndex]];
[self.selectionData setObject:sectionData forKey:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld",sectionIndex]];
}
NSLog(#"All Selection : %#",self.selectionData);
}
Your numberOfRowsInSection, numberOfSectionsInTableView and titleForHeaderInSection will remain same.
Let me know if you have any query.
You can set selection property of tableview from interface builder. Select your tableview in IB and then select attribute inspector and setsingle selectiontoselection` property like below screenshot.
Or you can set programattically,
self.tableView.allowsMultipleSelection = NO;
Update :
If you want single selection per section then you can implement willSelectRowAtIndexPath as below,
- (NSIndexPath*)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath {
for ( NSIndexPath* selectedIndexPath in tableView.indexPathsForSelectedRows ) {
if ( selectedIndexPath.section == indexPath.section )
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:selectedIndexPath animated:NO] ;
}
return indexPath ;
}
In this case you should allow multiple selection in tableview i think.
Reference : Answer of John Sauer
Looks like you are updating celltwo / cellone selectedsignLabel.hidden on table selection. so #Lion solution will not working. You have to save the last selected index using below code :
#property (nonatomic, strong) NSMutableDictionary *selectedIndexPathDict;
// in viewDidLoad:
self.tableView.allowsMultipleSelection = YES;
self.selectedIndexPathDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init];
//In table view delegate.
- (NSIndexPath*)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath {
NSString *indexSection = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%ld", (long)indexPath.section];
NSIndexPath *indexPath1 = self.selectedIndexPathDict[indexSection];
if ( indexPath1) {
HotelDetailsone *secone = [roomonearray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
secone.offerallow ^= YES; //toggle bool value
// update new selected index path.
[self.selectedIndexPathDict setObject:indexPath forKey:indexSection];
//reload previous selected cell.
dispatch_after(dispatch_time(DISPATCH_TIME_NOW, (int64_t)(0.5 * NSEC_PER_SEC)), dispatch_get_main_queue(),^{
[tableView beginUpdates];
[tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:#[indexPath1] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
[tableView endUpdates];
});
} else {
//initialise selected index path
self.selectedIndexPathDict[indexSection] = indexPath;
}
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:NO] ;
return indexPath ;
}
I have not update the complete working code. But this is the way to achieve. You can also use the userdefault instead of self.selectedIndexPathDict.

How to store, retrieve check or unchecked cells

I am trying to save the checkmark that i place on a cell and then retrieve it. I have 11 cells in that section.
I tried to use this link as a guide and it works. But i want only need one checkmark to be saved rather than many.
And also i want to set checkmark for all cells by default. How would i achieve this
My Code :
- (NSString *)getKeyForIndex:(int)index{
return [NSString stringWithFormat:#"KEY%d",index];
}
- (BOOL) getCheckedForIndex:(int)index {
if([[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] valueForKey:[self getKeyForIndex:index]] boolValue]==YES) {
return YES;
}
else
{
return NO;
}
}
- (void) checkedCellAtIndex:(int)index
{
BOOL boolChecked = [self getCheckedForIndex:index];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:!boolChecked] forKey:[self getKeyForIndex:index]];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if(section == 4) {
if([self getCheckedForIndex:indexPath.row]==YES) {
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
}
}
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
UITableViewCell* cell = nil;
NSString *key = [_keys objectAtIndex:indexPath.section];
NSArray *name = [_names objectForKey:key];
static NSString *MyCellIdentifier = #"Cell";
cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:nil];
if (cell == nil){
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault
reuseIdentifier:MyCellIdentifier];
cell.textLabel.text = [name objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
if(section == 4) {
[self checkedCellAtIndex:indexPath.row];
if([self getCheckedForIndex:indexPath.row]==YES)
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
}
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
}
Solution can be tricky :
Maintain one array same to tableview datasource array.
Say for example u have NSMutableArray *mutArrNames which tableview datasource. Now NSMutableArray *mutArrNamesCheckListwhich shows which one is checked or not;
Intially nothing is selected so add 0 to uncheck one:
for(int i =0; i<[mutArrNames count];i++)
{
[mutArrNamesCheckList addObject:#"0"];
}
Now use like this:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if(section == 4) {
//check from mutArrNamesCheckList's list if cell is check one or not
if([[mutArrNamesCheckList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] intValue] == 1) //checked one
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else //unchecked one
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
}
}
return cell;
}
Here it can be used according to your requirement like allow mutiple selection or single selection.
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
//get cell object
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
if(section == 4)
{
if([[mutArrNamesCheckList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] intValue] == 1) //checked one
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
//replace 0 with 1 as check one
[mutArrNamesCheckList replaceObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row withObject:#"0"];
}
else //unchecked one
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
//replace 1 with 0 as uncheck one
[mutArrNamesCheckList replaceObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row withObject:#"1"];
}
}
}
For selection and unselection of all cell add this in button's action method. Use this :
//remove all as new objects will be added
[mutArrNamesCheckList removeAllObjects];
if(!btnCheckAll.selected)//selected property used - default is no so all not selected
{
//make all selected
for(int i =0; i<[mutArrNames count];i++)
{
[mutArrNamesCheckList addObject:#"1"];
}
//change buttons image here
}
else
{
//make all unselected
for(int i =0; i<[mutArrNames count];i++)
{
[mutArrNamesCheckList addObject:#"0"];
}
//change buttons image here
}
//tableView reload
[yourtableView reloadData];
btnCheckAll.selected = !btnCheckAll.selected;
Add mutArrNamesCheckList in AppDelegate to be visible in whole Application.
So remove iteration we done on top of above answer in our viewcontroller as we didn't wanted to use gobally
EDIT : added toggling in didSelectRowAtIndexPath + clicked select all button, all cell is checked else unchecked

Not sure why NSUserdefaults is not saving the results?

I am trying to save checked and remove unchecked tablecells into NSUserdefaults but it seems to ignore it as the NSLog in the for loop never gets called not sure why, is there something wrong with this code? (Everything shows up right and the cells get checked and un-checked correctly)
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
//setting up nsUser
userDefaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults];
//current row text
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
NSString *cellName = cell.textLabel.text;
// Check if current row is selected
Boolean isNowChecked = NO;
if([tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath].accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark)
{
isNowChecked = YES;
}
if(isNowChecked)
{
NSLog(#"UNCHECKING");
[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath].accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
//takes away highlight from selection
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
//retrieve from nsdefaults
NSMutableArray *arrayOfCategories = [userDefaults objectForKey:#"categories"];
NSMutableArray *categoriesSelected;
//remove from nsuserdefaults
//add to nsuserdefaults
for (NSString* o in arrayOfCategories)
{
NSLog(#"%#",o);
if([o isEqualToString:cellName]) {
} else {
[categoriesSelected addObject:o];
}
}
//set for nsdefaults
[userDefaults setObject:categoriesSelected forKey:#"categories"];
[userDefaults synchronize];
}
else
{
NSLog(#"CHECKING");
[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath].accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
//takes away highlight from selection
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
NSMutableArray *categoriesSelected;
//add to array
[categoriesSelected addObject:cellName];
//retrieve from nsdefaults
NSMutableArray *arrayOfCategories = [userDefaults objectForKey:#"categories"];
//add to nsuserdefaults
for (NSString* o in arrayOfCategories)
{
NSLog(#"%#",o);
[categoriesSelected addObject:o];
}
//set for nsdefaults
[userDefaults setObject:categoriesSelected forKey:#"categories"];
[userDefaults synchronize];
}
}
Change this line, otherwise you have an uninitialized Array:
NSMutableArray *categoriesSelected;
to:
NSMutableArray *categoriesSelected = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
Update: After looking at your code there are actually quite a few things that should be improved.
You should load the list of checked categories once in viewDidLoad and keep the list in an instance variable.
It's not a good idea to check to see if a cell is currently checked or not by looking at the cell's accessory type. Your data model should tell you which rows are checked.
You have a lot of duplicate code to toggle the checked state of a cell.
Use a set, not an array, to keep track of the checked cells.
Try the following changes:
Add an NSMutableSet instance variable to your class:
NSMutableSet *_checkedCategories;
In viewDidLoad, load the set:
NSArray *checkedCategories = [[NSUserDefault standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:#"categories"];
if (checkedCategories) {
_checkedCategories = [[NSMutableSet alloc] initWithArray:checkedCategories];
} else {
_checkedCategories = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init];
}
Now update your didSelectRow method:
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *cellName = ...; // get the cell name from your data model, not the cell
BOOL isChecked = [_checkedCategories containsObject:cellName];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
if (isChecked) {
[_checkedCategories removeObject:cellName]; // no longer checked
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
} else {
[_checkedCategories addObject:cellName]; // now checked
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:[_checkedCategories allObjects] forKey:#"categories"];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize];
}

iOS UITableView shows content of an old custom cell after reload but selecting it pushes to correct data

I have a very weird behavior with a UITableViewController in my project.
Normally it works perfectly but in one specific case it doesn't.
I have a dynamic table view with one custom type of cell. After filling all the data into the data source the table shows all the content correctly. There is a Pull-to-Refresh that updates the data source and table correctly. There are some filter buttons that update the only section with an animation correctly.
But if I click on one the detail view pushes into and if I go back click on one of these filter buttons again all the table view cells update except the ones I clicked. But if I click on this one again the detail view appears with the data of the cell that used to be there.
So the data updates just fine but the visible doesn't.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you
P.S: Yes I do call the deselectRowAtIndexPath: method in the didSelectRowAtIndexPath:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"BANF";
BANFCell *cell = (BANFCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier
forIndexPath:indexPath];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[BANFCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault
reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
// collect required data
Requisition *req;
// for right section
if ([self.tableView numberOfSections] == 1) {
req = [recent objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
} else {
if (indexPath.section == 1) {
req = [recent objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
} else {
req = [notSent objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
}
NSMutableArray *shortTexts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
// get description text and sort short texts ascending
// also the amount and currency
NSString *reqDescript;
NSString *amount;
NSString *currency;
for (Trait *trait in req.traits) {
if ([trait.name isEqualToString:#"DESCRIPTION"] && trait.value.length > 0) {
reqDescript = trait.value;
}
if ([trait.name isEqualToString:#"TOTAL_AMOUNT"] && trait.value.length > 0) {
amount = trait.value;
}
if ([trait.name isEqualToString:#"CURRENCY"] && trait.value.length > 0) {
currency = trait.value;
}
}
NSString *amountAndCurreny;
if (amount) {
NSNumberFormatter *currencyFormatter = [[NSNumberFormatter alloc] init];
[currencyFormatter setNumberStyle:NSNumberFormatterCurrencyStyle];
[currencyFormatter setCurrencyCode:currency];
amountAndCurreny = [currencyFormatter stringFromNumber:[NSNumber numberWithDouble:amount.doubleValue]];
} else
amountAndCurreny = #"";
cell.amountLabel.text = amountAndCurreny;
NSArray *descriptors = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:#"itm_number"
ascending:YES], nil];
NSArray *orderedArray = [req.positions sortedArrayUsingDescriptors:descriptors];
for (Position *position in orderedArray) {
for (Trait *trait in position.traits) {
if ([trait.name isEqualToString:#"SHORT_TEXT"] && trait.value.length > 0) {
[shortTexts addObject:trait.value];
}
}
}
UIImage *bgImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"tableBG"];
cell.backgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:bgImage];
// filling them in
if (req.iD.integerValue < 0) {
[cell.histLabel setText:NSLocalizedString(#"New", nil)];
} else {
[cell.histLabel setText:req.iD.stringValue];
}
[cell.datelabel setText:[labelDateFormatter stringFromDate:req.createDate]];
switch (req.status) {
case ReqStatusNew: [cell.imageView setImage:nil];
break;
case ReqStatusSaved: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"istGespeichertKiste.png"]];
break;
case ReqStatusApproved: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"genehmigtKiste.png"]];
break;
case ReqStatusInWFF: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"workflowKiste.png"]];
break;
case ReqStatusNotApproved: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"abgelehntKiste.png"]];
break;
case ReqStatusOrdered: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"istBestelltKiste.png"]];
break;
case ReqStatusDelivered: [cell.imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"geliefertKiste.png"]];
break;
}
cell.shortTextLabel.marqueeType = MLContinuous;
cell.shortTextLabel.rate = 50;
cell.shortTextLabel.textAlignment = NSTextAlignmentLeft;
if (reqDescript == nil) {
cell.shortTextLabel.text = [shortTexts componentsJoinedByString:#", "];
} else if (shortTexts.count > 0) {
cell.shortTextLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#: %#", reqDescript, [shortTexts componentsJoinedByString:#", "]];
} else {
cell.shortTextLabel.text = reqDescript;
}
[cell.shortTextLabel setFrame:CGRectMake(56, 35, 168, 18)];
return cell;
}
In viewWillAppear: I just set the buttons in the navigationcontroller and call
[tableview reloadData]
In viewDidLoad: just adding the delegate of the refresh control
The refresh control just calls [tableview reloadData] after updating the recent and notSent arrays from Core Data
A filter button just calls:
- (IBAction)filterPressed:(UIButton *)sender {
sender.selected = !sender.selected;
NSArray *filters = [dvFilterList componentsSeparatedByString:#","];
if ([[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] boolForKey:[filters objectAtIndex:sender.tag]]){
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setBool:NO
forKey:[filters objectAtIndex:sender.tag]];
} else {
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setBool:YES
forKey:[filters objectAtIndex:sender.tag]];
}
[self updateTableViewData];
// only the section with the recent banfs
NSInteger section = [self numberOfSectionsInTableView:self.tableView] - 1;
[self.tableView reloadSections:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:section]
withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade];
}
(updateTableViewData is the method that just updates the recent and notSent arrays from Core Data)
You can try this ,
[tableView reloadData];
You can write this in cellForRowAtIndexPath
BANFCell *cell = (BANFCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:nil
forIndexPath:indexPath];
I finally found the solution by myself.
In my didSelectRowAtIndexPath: method I call performSegueWithIdentifier: and by giving the selected row as sender variable Xcode is somehow saving just the look of the cell in background that can only be deleted by removing the whole view controller from the stack.
Now I just give self as the sender because I don't need the variable.
So I code this:
[self performSegueWithIdentifier:#"goToReq" sender:self];
Instead of this:
[self performSegueWithIdentifier:#"goToReq" sender:[self tableView:tableView
cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]];
I know this is not the answer for the original question, but might help someone else seeing similar problems.
I've encountered similar behavior with buggy code like this:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
if (condition)
{
CustomCell1* cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"custom1" forIndexPath:indexPath];
// configure cell
// !! note how "return cell;" is missing !!
}
CustomCell2* cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:#"custom2" forIndexPath:indexPath];
// configure cell
return cell;
}
Was fixed by actually returning the special-case cell from the conditional branch.

iOS: How to save only one checkmark (for UITableView) in NSUserDefaults?

i have a question regarding NSUserDefaults. I am trying to save the checkmark that i place on a cell and then retrieve it when the app crashes or when user closes app and so on. I tried to use this post post as a guide, but no luck, but here's what i have so far. The code from the post works, however, i only need one checkmark to be saved rather than many. How would i achieve this?
#implementation ClientsViewController
#synthesize clientsInt; // This is just a variable that helps me do the drill down part of the rootviewcontroller
#synthesize checkedIndexPath;
- (NSString *)getKeyForIndex:(int)index
{
return [NSString stringWithFormat:#"KEY%d",index];
}
- (BOOL) getCheckedForIndex:(int)index
{
if([[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] valueForKey:[self getKeyForIndex:index]] boolValue]==YES)
{
return YES;
}
else
{
return NO;
}
}
- (void) checkedCellAtIndex:(int)index
{
BOOL boolChecked = [self getCheckedForIndex:index];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:!boolChecked] forKey:[self getKeyForIndex:index]];
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if([self getCheckedForIndex:indexPath.row]==YES)
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
}
// Configure the cell...
if (clientsInt == 0) {
cell.textLabel.text = [array1 objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
else if (clientsInt == 1) {
cell.textLabel.text = [array2 objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
else if (clientsInt == 2) {
cell.textLabel.text = [array3 objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
else if (clientsInt == 3) {
cell.textLabel.text = [array4 objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
if([self.checkedIndexPath isEqual:indexPath])
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
// Uncheck the previous checked row
if(self.checkedIndexPath)
{
UITableViewCell* uncheckCell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:self.checkedIndexPath];
uncheckCell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
UITableViewCell* cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
self.checkedIndexPath = indexPath;
[self checkedCellAtIndex:indexPath.row];
if([self getCheckedForIndex:indexPath.row]==YES)
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
[tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES];
}
Maybe try something like this every time the user checks a row:
[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index] forKey:#"kCheckedBoxKey"];
Since each time, you would save the index under the same key (#"kCheckedBoxKey"), only one index will ever be stored, and it will always be the latest one that the user checked. All you would need to do the next time you load is ask userDefaults if it can find a value for the key #"kCheckedBoxKey", and if so, you would respond by programatically checking the index that was stored.
(you'd of course also want to clean it up by using #define CHECKED_KEY #"kCheckedBoxKey" at the top of the file, and use CHECKED_KEY instead of the literal string to protect against misspellings. At any rate, the point is to make sure you always save & restore using that same key.)
I recently had to save the state of each cell in my table view when the user selected or deselected them to add or remove checkmarks. Here is the snippet of code I used to save to a .plist file (let me know if you need the whole implementation I came up with:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *contentForThisRow = [[self list] objectAtIndex:[indexPath row]];
NSString *CellIdentifier = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"Cell%d%d", indexPath.section, indexPath.row];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if(cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
NSString *documentDirectory = [(AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] applicationDocumentsDirectory];
NSString *PlistPath = [documentDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:#"Settings.plist"];
NSDictionary *dict = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:PlistPath];
NSString *row = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",indexPath.row];
if([[dict objectForKey:row]isEqualToString:#"0"])
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone;
}
else
{
cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark;
}
[[cell textLabel] setText:contentForThisRow];
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *documentDirectory = [(AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] applicationDocumentsDirectory];
NSString *PlistPath = [documentDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:#"Settings.plist"];
NSMutableDictionary *plist = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithContentsOfFile:PlistPath];
UITableViewCell *cell = [self._tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
NSString *row = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",indexPath.row];
