I'm very new to using Umbraco, but I am looking for a way to sort the media files so I can see which files haven't been linked to any content yet? e.g. PDFs that are yet to be put onto any page.
Is there a simple way of doing this? Or can someone talk me through step-by-step what to do?
Thanks,
Becky
You can use an extension like https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/falm-housekeeping/ to clean out all the unused media.
When working with extensions I would make a copy of your project and test it out on there first as some extensions can be quite temperamental.

I am creating a cocoa web browser using WKWebView and Swift. Like most browsers, they have extensions or plugins. I want to implement the same thing in my web browser. I came across CFPlugin. I want to use this feature but I do not know how. It would be good if you give a sample application.
I haven't tried anything because I don't know what to do
This is how I want my extension to look like
myExtension.bundle/
info.plist
scripts1.js
popoverview.xib
popoverview.swift
script2.js
popuppage.html
image.png
popuppage.css
I want to know how to read the files in the bundle
Thanks!
After a few minutes of trying I found the answer
Bundles are considered as Directories
so you can do something like this
MyBundle.bundle/Contents/Info.plist
MyBundle.bundle/Contents/Resources/MyView.xib
I am currently making an extension, and I hope I could get some
practical advice on feasibility :
I want my extension to go fetch/load a local folder of custom homescreen
thumbnails(top-sites), and then replace the auto-generated thumbnails in
the homescreen with those it loaded.
The extension would be able to read the associated domain names of the
thumbnails and then replace them accordingly.
(e.g :Pinned Url : youtube.com/anything : Ok so it’s YouTube : then replace the thumbnail with “Custom_Youtube_Thumbnail.png”)
Does that seems possible to you ? (Before I dive in head first)
I saw that the top-sites API is not quite available
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1246693 but maybe I’m wrong.
Extra : My extension is switching themes (like this :
https://github.com/mdn/webextensions-examples/tree/master/theme-switcher ).
Would it be possible to switch the thumbnails accordingly
(Custom_Youtube_Thumbnail_light.png > Custom_Youtube_Thumbnail_dark.png)
as i’ve made a version for each.
Would be a pleasure to hear your opinion on this, or just pointing
useful resources to me,
I’m not asking for a perfectly baked solution.
Hope I’ve been concise.
Thanks for reading me !
Very nice idea you had.
But In short: no possible.
Main problem is that you cannot inject and manipulate on the homepage which is a built in browser tab.
"You cannot inject code into any of the browser's built-in pages, such as: about:debugging, about:addons, or the page that opens when you open a new empty tab."

I'm currently studying swift and came up with such a question:
What are best practices to work with custom user files like .pdf, .doc?
For instance, I have application, that loads different files from server like .pdf, .ppt, .zip and so on, how to present them inside my app?
While googling I came up with solutions mainly for images, but nothing particular for other file types.
For now, what I have is - downloading files from server using Alamofire and saving them to documents directory.
Could anyone please recommend how to present this files inside my app after I saved them?
Possible solution that comes to my mind is web view, but what about zip? Is there some kind of universal solution? I know that there is Files App in iOS 11, but what about iOS 10?
Many thanks for your attention!
Windows Live Messenger creates a number of files like
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts{ae86acef-5a45-4447-bc32-521fc9289e1a}\DBStore\contacts.edb
and stores contacts within. When looking on such files, it is obviouos that they have strict structure. However, I failed to find the description of contacts.edb structure in internet.
Does anybody knows this structure? Or maybe there are some parser sources available? (I do not need a exe for that, I know about NirSoft one).
There is a project called libesedb which might be of use here.
The contacts.edb file is an ESEBD file.
So I would like it when a user creates a new folder in my sharepoint document library that 4 template documents also get added inside the new folder. I get that the user could just click on the document template for each template individual but I want them added all the time.
There doesn't seem to be an option to add template documents to a document lib folder content type.
Sooo.... Is my only alternative to create a custom sharepoint workflow that checks for the folder creation inside my doc lib. (Ideally maybe restricting it to only when a specific folder of my custom content type is created.. ) This seems like a simple workflow to create but I want to make sure that I even need to create one since I haven't actually created a custom sharepoint workflow yet...
Thanks,
Chris
You're right; there's no built-in functionality for this. It should be reasonable simple to write a workflow that runs when something is added to a library, checks to see if it is a folder, and adds the items into the folder. It would probably be easiest to have the template documents in another folder somewhere, and then copy them over.
Good luck!
I found this example that helped out a lot:
