The build process of a MobileFirst 7.1 project triggered by ANT is failing with this error message: /var/folders/5c/_7nw3_gd07931t2fjnqkqhcr0000gn/T/wlBuildResources/7.1.0.00.20160804-1930/environments/base/ios/buildinstructions.xml (No such file or directory)
It fails to build android version as well. I've checked the path in my OSX server and we had: /var/folders/5c/_7nw3_gd07931t2fjnqkqhcr0000gn/T/wlBuildResources/7.1.0.00.20160804-1930/environments
without /base/ios (or android) and without the xml file of course.
Any idea about the reason ?
Try to delete the entirety of the wlBuildResources folde. This folder typically gets regenerated so perhaps the missing resource will be regenerated as well.

I have a project which was working fine till I was working on my older MacBook. I am now working on new MacBook and the same project gives me build error. My friend also works on the new MacBook with same configuration and os but he is able to build it successfully.
Error on my system is :
<unknown>:0: error: no such file or directory: '/Users/myuser/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyProject-dlhksnilacudcebpmorlzpzlkbid/Build/Intermediates.noindex/MyProject.build/Debug-iphoneos/MyProject.build/DerivedSources/CoreDataGenerated/Model/Model+CoreDataModel.swift'
Command CompileSwiftSources failed with a nonzero exit code
I have navigated to the path
'/Users/myuser/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyProject-dlhksnilacudcebpmorlzpzlkbid/Build/Intermediates.noindex/MyProject.build/Debug-iphoneos/MyProject.build/DerivedSources/CoreDataGenerated/Model'
There I found an unknown folder named "emplate" under which the required file exists.
I have searched the whole project, build settings, build phases, scripts but nowhere I found "emplate".
The CoreData entity Codegen has been specified as "Category/Extension".
Its better if you can install new version xcode or use same version of xcode which your friend is using, i think some path issues with your current xcode
I have got the solution for this. Renamed and Moved Xcode from Desktop to Applications folder, clean the project , removed DerivedData folder. And it works.
Getting compilation error in xamarin.iOS project-
/Users/gsps/Desktop/MyFolder/projectName/iOS/bin/iPhoneSimulator/Debug/device-builds/iphone10.3-11.3/projectName.iOS.app:
Error: ${ProjectDir}: No such file or directory (projectName.iOS)
I have Cleaned, Rebuild & Restarted machine but this didn't solved my problem. When I am going to the given location finding the same file that looks like deleted or corrupted(See screenshot). I have recently updated Xamarin & xCode to latest version.

I am answering my question. After searching a lot I found that In iOS Bundle Signing, I have declared Additional Argument as ${ProjectDir}. When I removed It, I have compiled my project successfully.
We have implemented Continuous Integration with Jenkins to help perform our builds for faster deployment. We have reviewed the documentation provided through the Xamarin website, and have come to an issue. In the walkthrough it describes how to use various plugins to perform the process, we use build scripts to perform our builds because we have some post-actions that we execute after the build, such as submitting the ipa to the TestFlight. The problem is that for iOS it is has been documented that we need to use xbuild instead of mdtool when building from the terminal/command line.
We followed this portion of the guide to construct our xbuild within the build script. It appears that the xbuild command works and creates the project reference dlls and even generates an exe, but does not generate an ipa file even if we set this /p:BuildIpa=true on the xbuild to ensure the ipa generation. We also have provided a location for the ipa to be generated within to ensure we are not missing the file with this /p:IpaPackageDir=$BUILD_PATH. Here is the whole xbuild command that we are currently using, is there something that is incorrect or we are missing?
/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Commands/xbuild $PROJECT_FILE / t:Build /p:BuildIpa=true /p:IpaPackageDir=$BUILD_PATH /p:Configuration=”Release” /p:Platform=”iPhone” /p:OutputPath=$BUILD_PATH
($BUILD_PATH) -- The build path is just “%WORKSPACE%\bin\iPhone\Release\”
I did find this resource as well, which states that xbuild requires the solution file for iOS to build correctly, is that correct?
If this is correct, how do we resolve these errors because I have not been able to find any documentation that explains how to properly define the solution and project files for xbuild deployment, or even how to exclude particular projects during the build:
/Users/developer/.jenkins/workspace/Mobile3_Branch_3.20/ServicePro/iOS/Mobile3.Forms.UWP/Mobile3.Forms.UWP.csproj: warning : Could not find project file /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/External/xbuild/Microsoft/WindowsXaml/v14.0/Microsoft.Windows.UI.Xaml.CSharp.targets, to import. Ignoring.

Here is the xbuild command we used to build the solution:
/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Commands/xbuild /p:Configuration=”Release” /p:Platform=”iPhone” /p:OutputPath=$BUILD_PATH /p:BuildIpa=true /p:IpaPackageDir=$BUILD_PATH /t:Build $SOLUTION_FILE
We are not concerned with building the UWP projects when building the iOS project because we have a separate build script that generates the appxbundle file correctly.
You can build an "individual project/app" by setting the SolutionDir and building a .csproj, all the referenced projects will be built and an .ipa created, something like:
xbuild
/p:SolutionDir="./src"
/p:OutputPath="$PWD/artifacts/"
/p:IpaPackageDir="$PWD/artifacts/"
/p:Configuration=Release
/p:Platform=iPhone
/target:Build
src/iOS/XamarinForms.iOS.csproj
Note: This assumes your provisioning profiles are setup on this Mac.
I have a strange problem. I develop an app using Ionic on a samba network drive.
I develop on a windows machine and run all the command lines regarding Android development. I switch to a Mac to be able to build for iOS.
All went fine and as expected the last couple of days. Today I edited some HTML, JS and CSS files - just some minor improvements. I built the app for android on the windows machine (plus using jarsigner and zipalign - only if that should matter).
On the Mac I had troubles. Suddenly I get errors when trying to run ionic build --release ios (as I already did successfully the last couple days).
The executed script creates files and folders starting with "._" which were never created before and are already existing without it. This results at some point in an ENOENT (no such file or directory) aborting everything.
I don't get it. I already de-/re-installed node, npm, cordova and ionic. But nothing helped.
I would love to support you guys with additional error messages or logs, but due to I'm fairly new to mobile development (and using a Mac), I don't know what information would be helpful and what not.
Sp please tell me any information you need and I'll be happy to supply them.
I accidentally solved my own problem. I just "removed" the platforms directory (by renaming it) and re-added the platform using the command cordova platform add ios.
After that I could build my app as it did before. Don't know why or what actually triggered this behavior, but at least I'm able to proceed.
If somebody knows how to prevent that from happening again (so that I don't loose all the project settings I configured in Xcode), I would appreciate it.
This happened to me, too - I found this bug in the Cordova issues:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-5644
I found out that Xcode created the file PROJECT_PATH/platforms/ios/._APPNAME.xcodeproject. I deleted this file and "cordova prepared ios" was working again.
...
It should ignore files starting with ._ as they are hidden system
files used by osx to store infos about a file
I am developing a cordova project. A project which is intended to run cross platform: Android, Windows phone, iOS.
I using this pushplugin to implement push notifications: the push plugin is intended to communicate between the device and the relevant push notification system (Android: GCM, Windows: WNS, Apple: APNS): https://github.com/phonegap/phonegap-plugin-push
On a windows pc, in the visual studio, I have managed to implement push notifications in a todo app. The app runs well in the cross platform solution which runs on visual studio.
Now as you may know, in a Cordova app, when building for a specific platform, folders for each platform are created as sub folders to a folder called platforms found in the project directory.
When I tried building for ios and put the project folder on a ios computer, I am opening the project in Xcode and trying to run it, but I am getting these kind of errors referring to the same push plugin:
clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Users/Jurgen/Documents/Xcode/backbonetodo/BackboneToDo/platforms/ios/BackboneToDoPluginsphonegap-plugin-pushGCMLibrarieslibGGLCloudMessaging.a'
clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Users/Jurgen/Documents/Xcode/backbonetodo/BackboneToDo/platforms/ios/BackboneToDoPluginsphonegap-plugin-pushGCMLibrarieslibGGLCore.a'
clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Users/Jurgen/Documents/Xcode/backbonetodo/BackboneToDo/platforms/ios/BackboneToDoPluginsphonegap-plugin-pushGCMLibrarieslibGGLInstanceIDLib.a'
I just copied the first 3 errors (but there are over 20).
The push plugin works fine on visual studio and normally by copying the project folder on a mac computer and running the .xcodeproject file from inside the iOS platform folder, I manage to run with no problems.
Any idea, what could be wrong? I am also notificing that after BackboneToDo there is no / and also after Plugins. It seems like the way it is creating the directory is not right. I also tried to change the location to absolute but this didnt solve the problem.
Any help?
Thanks in advance
While coping the files of deferent platforms make sure you don't copy the following files / folders.
cordova_plugins.js, cordova-js-src, cordova.js, plugins.
It seems like you have copied the push plugin for android in iOS project.
