Xamarin close the Xcode 8.0 - ios

Now I am Using Xamarin Version 6.1 and Xcode Version 8.0.
So when ever require and need to make any change in storyboard for existing project, I am opening storyboard file in Xcode.
So, first I have to select any device mandatorily and after making any change I will go back to Xamarin, Xcode will get closed.
Anybody also facing such issue?? In such scenario development is much complicated. Please help...
Thanks & Regards,
Hardik Shah

It seems that they have changed the way it was working earlier.
Downgrading to Xcode 7 also created issues as it was not compatible with XCode 8 modified storyboards.
This is from Xamarin tech support on the issue:
The behavior of the Xamarin Studio synchronization for editing interface builder files with Xcode Interface Builder has unfortunately changed for Xcode 8 due to changes in Xcode. With Xcode 7.3 and earlier, Xamarin Studio could leave Xcode open when it performed the synchronization steps. (In fact, leaving Xcode open during the sync did cause certain problems, but at least it didn't usually cause Xcode to crash.) In contrast, starting with Xcode 8, if Xamarin Studio tries to use that same approach, it does cause Xcode 8 to crash. So rather than forcibly crashing Xcode, Xamarin Studio tells Xcode to quit.
To give a bit more historical context, the Xcode sync has always been quite problematic.

Some crucial comment:
The problem is that when you switch back to Xamarin Studio, it deletes the temporary project that it exported to Xcode which causes Xcode to crash (actually current versions tell Xcode to exit cleanly in order to avoid the crash).
I would recommend using Xamarin Studio's built-in iOS UI Designer instead. If that isn't good enough to use, then we'd prefer you tell us what bugs you need fixed in that and/or what features you need so that we can address your needs that way.
We are pushing to completely drop support for exporting to Xcode as it doesn't make sense to support 2 different ways of doing the same thing.
Hence, we will have to live or start adjusting with what they have implemented. I switched channel to alpha mode but no changes in the behavior.
We have two options:
Start using Xamarin Studio Designer and report bugs/features which are missing. They are confident that everything is ported. We have observed slowness issue
Open design file in Xcode 8 and go back to Xamarin only after changes are complete.
I hope this will helps you. Also keep posting here if you found better option or solution.

Xamarin iOS app displaying white blank screen on iPad after update to Xcode 11

I have a Xamarin.iOS app developed on Visual Studio 2019 and paired to a Mac. The app was displaying correctly on both iPhones and iPads until I updated Xcode on the Mac to version 11. Since then Apple is rejecting my app because is displaying a white blank screen on iPads (see image below!).
I have validated the issue on Xcode Simulator and on a physical iPad. Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening?
I had exactly the same problem as you, and even though it could be you already got a solution i will share how i got it working at the end... for those who could still have that same problem.
Note: in my case the issue appeared only on Apps built with XCode 11 that use MasterDetailPage on Xamarin.Forms version < 4.0 and running on iPad: the easiest solution to this issue is simply updating Xamarin.Forms to the latest version (or simply downgrading XCode to a previous version!), but if you (as i was) are not able to update Xamarin.Forms, then keep reading.
As mentioned in this thread from the Xamarin Forums all you have to do is copy the latest MasterDetailPage renderer from the Xamarin.Forms source and do a few changes.
Since the final script is too long to be added here as text (it exceeds the maximal number of allowed lines), and since i could not find a way to upload a text file, i would point to the thread in Xamarin Forums where i added that script with all the changes needed:
TabletMasterDetailRenderer
Note: Do not forget to change {YourNamespace} for your correct namespace!
This is fixed in at least Xamarin Forms 3.6.0.709228.

Xcode Memory Graph Debugging Icon not showing

I've recently started working on an existing objc project and wanted to check the memory graph debugging tool. As I started a debugger with the app I realised it doesn't show in the debugging tools.
I tried it with another project (created a new swift project) and the icon suddenly did show again. But only for this project.
So my question now is if there're any settings in a particular project that can prevent the memory graph debugging tool from showing?
Any hints are appreciated.
I tried a lot of different simulators (iOS 9/10/11). I event tried rebooting my macbook because I read somewhere this could help ;-)
I'm using an objc only project with Xcode 9.1 or Xcode 9.2 beta 2.
This is my diagnostics selection in the scheme if that's related:
Step 1: shut down and restart your iPhone.
Step 2: quit and reopen Xcode.
This should make the button reappear.
For some reason, the button is not there when I test on the device, but it's there when I test on the simulator.
Hi I was having the same issue. It's actually hidden here:
It appears that the memory debugger will only work for newer devices. It definitely does appear on the iPhone 8 running iOS 11. On some of my older devices it does not appear. I'm not sure at this time what the cutoff is.

XCode 9.1 Hang on load Storyboard Signing product issue

Folks,
Currently I am using xcode 9.1 version when working into .h,.m or .swift file projects works properly even when run application into device works without any error.
Also same project open into XCODE 8 It's works .storyboard open and able to edit every thing works But when I loaded my project in Xcode 9.1 I try to load my main storyboard, Xcode starts to compile automatically the storyboard and it's hanging in the step "Signing product". After that i Have to force the exit.
NOTE : I used project developed into XCODE 8.3.3 after updating xcode newer version XCODE 9 or XCODE 9.1 facing this kind of issue.
Anybody having the same issue or like that?
Any solution to fix this issue/bug while updating .storyboard code.
For the issue,
I have analyse a thing here sharing:
Remove old Xcode's from your system, if it requires then save it dmg file for future purpose.
In Activity monitor, don't exceed the source kit size more than 700 mb if exceeds force quit it.
Restart your Xcode 2 or 3 times in a day, this will stops long time process(which Xcode uses) from which it hangs.
Upgrade your RAM if you really required more than 8 GB.
Still I am also facing issues not frequently, but these are worked for me, so I sharing.
I had this issue specifically when I called "Refresh All Views" from the Interface Builder (but NOT when building/running on device) when I had a custom UIButton class. I overrode layoutSubviews(), and inside that method I was calling self.titleLabel?.font to set the button label's font size.
Apparently, this caused my issue, and after some researching on the Apple developer forums I learned that updating a UI element's content inside layoutSubviews() is inadvisable.

Will Xcode 9 beta make my ObjC projects unusable with Xcode 8?

I'd like to use the Xcode 9 beta new features but I'm worried about backwards compatibility after working with the beta version. I've had such problems with past Xcode beta versions (since it made storyboards unusable with previous versions). I've tried loading test projects (ObjC and Swift) without any problem but I'd like to know if someone here can confirm this point since I need to upload to App Store frequently and I'll need Xcode 8 to do it.
Thanks.
I am not very sure about the ObjC projects in particular, but after opening my storyboard in Xcode9-Beta and then in Xcode8, all my UILabels disappeared. They are there, you can select/edit them, but they are just not visible.
But besides, if you are using version control, you can always rollback :)

Designing existing app with IB has no effect on device (iOS 7.1 / XCode 5.1)

I have encountered quite a strange bug a few days ago. It turns out that any changes in Interface Builder don't affect actual design anymore when the app is being tested on the device.
Practically it means, that you can go as far, as completely remove all view controllers in Storyboard, but with no effect on the device — the application will look the same. No changes at all.
At the same time, IB still works normally if you run the app in the simulator. New projects also work fine, as well as my other existing apps. So the problem seems specific for this particular project and not easily reproducible.
If anyone has faced with a similar bug or knows its probable reason, please let me know. Any advice will be of great help. Thank you!
p.s. I have installed XCode 5.1 and upgraded my device (iPad 2) to iOS 7.1 just a day or two days before the problem initially occurred. An upgrade might cause the bug, but I haven't seen similar complaints on the web yet.
p.p.s Unfortunately, I had no chance to test this bug on iOS 6.x or <7.1 devices, but I will do it as soon, as I'll get access to one of these devices.
This is a bug in XCode.
Any changes that wont reflect at runtime, not even doing a Clean Build or even removing the app from the simulator or device.
Fix: rename storyboard to the old name (MainStoryBoard) and suddenly all changes were reflected.
