I am using datepicker with jquery ui with input
<input type="text" name="first_day" id="datepicker-first_day" class="input-text" />
and the jquery
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$("#datepicker-first_day").datepicker({
dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yy'
});
});
</script>
I have a page that loads and then when a link is clicked it loads the page with the following:
function load_page() {
$('#load-page').load('pages/annual-leave/annual-leave', 'show=all');
}
The date picker works the first time the page is loaded but after calling the load_page function it stops working.
I have confirmed that jquery ui is loaded both times.
I have tried the following through answers on stack overflow
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#datepicker-first_day").live("click", function () { $(this).datepicker(); });
});
(this one doesn't even work the first time)
I have also tried other similar things to the .live like .on etc.
Nothing I try seems to work?
Has anyone had a similar problem or know why this may be happening?
I have searched all day through google and stack overflow for an answer but can't fix it.
Edit: It is also worth noting that when the page is initially loaded it also uses the load_page function.

Problem: When I activate jQueryUI tooltip it prevents another script on the page from working.
Description: I have a floating button on a page:
<div id="buttonTOC">
Table Of Contents
</div><!-- End button <div> -->
This is used by the following script to open a hidden div:
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$("div#buttonTOC").click(function() {
$("div#table-of-contents").animate({height:'toggle'},500);
});
});
This works correctly but if I add a script to use tooltips then it stops functioning and nothing happens on click. The tooltip does work as expected.
I've tried some experiments to get this working including the following attempt to disable 'tooltip' on the div in question but this doesn't make any difference.
jQuery(function($) {
$( 'a#buttonText' ).tooltip({
track: true
});
$('#buttonTOC *[title]').tooltip('disable');
});
I would suspect a conflict between the scripts but then again I assume that something like a tooltip would be able to work regardless of the presence of other scripts.
I'd appreciate any guidance on how to implement this successfully.
Thanks
Your code has a typo:
$( 'p#buttonText' ).tooltip({
track: true
});
It should be a#buttonText, not p
Aside from that, there seems to be no problem with the script.
(I have already asked this question; here I am adding more details)
I have return a jQuery which returns the text entered in input element on change event. This jQuery works fine in FireFox but fails in Internet Explorer (IE9).
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#UserName").change(function () {
alert("Text Entered Is :"+$("#UserName").val());
});
});
</script>
1) I am using ASP.NET MVC; to reach the page having above jquery I am using Html.ActionLink
2) On IE when I reach on the page of above jQuery it does not work; but when I press F5 and refresh the page it works.
3) On Firefox I do not need to refresh the page; it works on very first attempt.
Please help...
The $(document).ready() event depends on an event called DOMContentLoaded (in Chrome, not really sure about firefox, but it is there by some name).
This event is fired as soon as the HTML has been loaded and all the relevant files have been brought in (the CSS and the JS files).. Chrome, Safari (WebKit) and Firefox(Gecko) are pretty predictable at firing this particular event. It bubbles up the stack like clockwork and once caught, you can play fiddle with it, for all anyone cares.
However, as far as IE is concerned, up till version 7 (I think) they never implemented this event. Given that, the implementation in the recent versions is not so efficient as well.
I have faced this problem time and again.
One workaround for this that has worked everytime is to fire the event manually at the end of the HTML:
<script type="text/javascript">
try{jQuery.ready();}catch(e){}
</script>
Hope this helps
Edit
A great way of seeing whether the event gets fired is to add somekind of action in the code. SOmething like:
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
alert("Loaded");
$("#UserName").change(function () {
alert("Text Entered Is :"+$("#UserName").val());
});
});
</script>
alert blocks the execution of the code, due the single threaded nature of Javascript. Therefore, you can use this to get a pseudo-stacktrace of your code.
I'm new to Plone and jQueryUI, and have not been able to get any jQueryUI working on a Plone page.
I installed Plone 4 (4.1.4 41143) and jQueryUI 1.8.16 (http://plone.org/products/collective.js.jqueryui),
Under Zope Management Interface > portal_javascripts, collective.js.jqueryui.custom.min.js is present and enabled.
To try to implement the example from http://jqueryui.com/demos/button/, I placed in the body text of a Plone page:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery({function($) {
$( "input:submit, a, button", ".demo" ).button();
$( "a", ".demo" ).click(function() { return false; });
});
</script>
<DIV class=demo>
<BUTTON type=submit>A button element</BUTTON> <INPUT value="A submit button" type=submit> An anchor
</DIV><!-- End demo -->
but the resulting page does not show the expected result.
I've tried replacing "jQuery" in the code above with "$", "collective.js.jqueryui.custom.min", but nothing has worked yet.
I was able to get some jQueryUI working outside of Plone, but would be interested in knowing how to use it within Plone. Any help appreciated.
The content of your script tags is probably being deleted by Plone's HTML filtering.
You can change that in "Site Setup", "HTML Filtering". (The dialog there is confusing, you have to click two buttons. First remove from 'nasty tags', then 'save' at the bottom of page.)
Be aware though, that there are good security reasons for not allowing users to use script, embed and other tags. It can lead to all kind of trouble, for instance when they are also allowed in comments, or less experienced users copy/paste dangerous code.
If you're just practicing, and not putting your site on the big bad Internet, it can be fine, but if you start deploying a real site it is much better to put script stuff into page templates of your own file-based add-on product.
Your syntax within the script tag is incorrect. Try this:
jQuery(function($) {
$( "input:submit, a, button", ".demo" ).button();
$( "a", ".demo" ).click(function() { return false; });
})($);
Yes, you may need to allow script tags as described above, but the example still did not work for me until I replaced the word jQuery with the $ sign, at least when using collective.js.jqueryui 1.8.16.9 on Plone 4.2.1.1.
<script>
$(function() {
$( "#progressbar1" ).progressbar();
$( "#slider" ).slider();
$( "input:submit, a, button", ".demo" ).button();
$( "a", ".demo" ).click(function() { return false; });
});
</script>
Putting ($) just before the semicolon on the line above also worked but I saw no difference.
The script worked on a file system page template even when script was included in the "nasty tags" list. Also, the script can be inserted into the document's head with the following in a page template:
<metal:slot fill-slot="javascript_head_slot">
<script>
$(function() {
$( "#slider" ).slider();
$( "#progressbar1" ).progressbar();
$( "input:submit, a, button", ".demo" ).button();
$( "a", ".demo" ).click(function() { return false; });
});
</script>
</metal:slot>
(I'd love to hear if there is a more appropriate prefix, but I don't really know javascript.)
I've just had a similar issue trying to get my scripts and jquery UI to work with a plone/zope setup. The solution was to register them in the javascript registry (/portal_javascripts).
The scripts themselves were added to /portal_skins/custom which is also where the homepage I was working on resides.
Script tags are filtered out from the source as already mentioned above, and the scripts from the registry automatically added instead.
Keep in mind also that order is important in the javascript registry.
Hope this is of some help to other users who come across this question,.
In my mobile app, using jQuery Mobile...
I would like to make a simple button execute a simple javascript function on click. No page transitions, nothing special like that.
I understood I can eliminate the page transitions by doing return false or preventDefault()
But the problem is the button sticks with the "active" state, i.e. highlighted blue if you use the general theme. I'm wondering how I can remove that after click (or tap, etc).
Thanks.
You can disable the 'highlighted blue'-state in the 'mobileinit'-event before loading jQueryMobile-script:
<head>
<script>
$(document).bind('mobileinit', function () {
$.mobile.activeBtnClass = 'unused';
});
</script>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.1.0/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.min.js"></script>
</head>
Now, when you click on a link, no class will be added after the click is performed. You will still have the 'hoover' and 'down' classes.
Update:
This question and the hacks suggested are now a bit outdated. jQuery mobile handles buttons quite a bit differently than 3 years ago and also, jQuery mobile now has several different definitions of "button". If you want to do what the OP was looking for, you might now be able to avoid the issue by using this:
Step 1:
<button class="ui-btn myButton">Button</button>
Alternatively, you could also use jQuery mobile input buttons:
<form>
<input value="Button One" type="button" class="myButton">
<input value="Button Two" type="button" class="myButton2">
</form>
Step 2:
Then your standard jquery on callback:
$(".myButton").on("tap", function(e) {
// do your thing
});
If you are using a button or a tab, or whatever, that has the "active" class applied to it (the default is ui-btn-active), the old answer may still be useful to someone. Also, here is a fiddle demonstrating the code below.
Selectively removing active state:
As demonstrated in another answer, you can disable the active state for all buttons on all pages. If that is acceptable for the project in question, that is the appropriate (and simpler) solution. However, if you want to disable the active state for some buttons while preserving active states for others, you can use this method.
Step 1:
$(document).bind('mobileinit', function() {
$(document).on('tap', function(e) {
$('.activeOnce').removeClass($.mobile.activeBtnClass);
});
});
Step 2:
Then add the activeOnce class (or whatever you want to call it - it's a custom class) to the buttons that you don't want to highlight when clicking.
And as is usual when binding anything to mobileinit, be sure you place your bindings - and perhaps better, all your javascript code - below the jQuery script and above the jQuery-mobile script.
<script src="js/jquery.js"></script>
<script src="js/my_script.js"></script>
<script src="js/jquery.mobile.js"></script>
Do NOT set the activeBtnClass to '' as suggested, this will cause errors when closing dialogs and the pageLoading function.
The method described does work, but cannot be set to null, the activeBtnClass variable is used as a selector, so set it to a non-existent class to get the same effect without the error.
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.7.1.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).bind('mobileinit', function () {
$.mobile.activeBtnClass = 'aBtnSelector';
});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.1.0/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.min.js"></script>
</head>
This works well to remove the highlight from the buttons while keeping the active state on other elements.
you can just do it via css instead of java:
eg: (you get the idea)
#cart #item_options .ui-btn-active, #cart #item_options .ui-btn-hover-d, #cart #item_options .ui-btn-up-d, #cart #item_options .ui-link-inherit{
background:inherit;
color:inherit;
text-shadow:inherit;
}
What I do is force the buttons to revert to inactive state before a page changes.
//force menu buttons to revert to inactive state
$( '.menu-btn' ).on('touchend', function() {
$(this).removeClass("ui-btn-active");
});
If you want to support non touch devices you should add timeout.
$('.btn' ).on('touchend click', function() {
var self = this;
setTimeout(function() {
$(self).removeClass("ui-btn-active");
},
0);
});
I have spent the good part of a day and night finding the answer to this problem mainly occurring on an android running phonegap. Instead of the standard JQM buttons I am using custom images with :active state in CSS. After following the link to the next page, then clicking back, the button would just stay in the :active state. I have tried adding classes and removing classes and various other suggestions and nothing has worked.
So I came up with my own little fix which works a treat and may help anyone else that is sitting here stumped. I simply call this snippet of code on 'pagecontainerchange' using data.toPage[0].id to only call it on the page where the active state stuck is occurring. Just make sure to wrap your buttons in a div, in my case called "themenu".
function ResetMenu() {
var menuHtml = $("#themenu").html();
$("#themenu").empty().html(menuHtml).trigger("create");
}
This works for a button in the JqueryMobile headerTab
<style>
.Foo {
color: #FFF !important;
background: #347b68 !important;
}
</style>
<div id="headerTab" data-id="headerTab" data-role="navbar">
<ul id="header_tabs">
<li>name
</li>
</ul>
</div>
I am trying to use quickSearch from http://lomalogue.com/jquery/quicksearch/ website. I don't know how to hook to the table so I hoping someone could be kind enough to help me here. I am using VS 2010 MVC 3, in C#, ADO.NET. Thanks in advance. I had a look at related question on the website, if there is a technical gitch? Is there alternative solution? Thanks in advance.
View file Index.cshtml looks like this...
Edited
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function () {
$("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({ widthFixed: true, widgets: ['zebra'],
sortList: [[0, 0]] })
.tablesorterPager({ container: $("#pager"), size: $(".pagesize
option:selected").val() });
});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function ()
{
$('input#search').quicksearch('table tbody tr', {selector:'th'});
}
);
</script>
</p>
<table class="tablesorter">
Also it could solve any code organisation problems if you are to wrap the JQuery statement in this
$(document).ready(function() {
$('input#search').quicksearch('table tbody tr', { selector: 'th' });
});
Also the table quick search plugin i use is JQuery table search plugin, it works well and if you just take a quick look at the demo it is rather easy to implement and does not clash with most other JQuery table plugins.
While I haven't used QuickSearch before, and I'm not sure if it'll solve all of your problems, but as a start it appears that you've put your first script element too early in your document.
You need to put it after the other script elements.
this:
<script type="text/javascript">
$('input#search').quicksearch('table tbody tr', { selector: 'th' });
</script>
should appear after the the jquery script, and the quicksearch script elements. If you include it before, the browser doesn't know what $ and $(selector).quicksearch is.
btw: this:'input#search' selector is not needed.
you can use the #search selector to same effect, becuase searching by id is a one command in JS.
