Hello everyone right now my team and me are trying to configure the release management solution within TFS 2015 version with the latest update we are getting the next error:
Deployment failed on machine 172.16.0.125 with following message :
System.Exception: An object at the specified path C:\Users\E2586~1.SAN does not exist.
2016-09-09T19:32:22.8188676Z ##[error]Deployment on one or more machines failed.
2016-09-09T19:32:22.8188676Z ##[error]For more info please refer to http://aka.ms/iisextnreadme
Any help would be appreciated.
It appears that this error occurs when the username of the domain, has a dot. I recommend that you create a username that you'd use just for tfs related tasks.

After updating from TFS 2018 v3 to DevOps Server 2019.0.1 last weekend I now receive this authentication error when attempting to manage security:
TF30063: You are not authorized to access tfs.
I receive this error when attempting to manage security from the Server Administration Console via Application Tier > Administer Security. I also receive the error when I attempt to set permissions via tfssecurity cli tool. I am in the local administrator group and I am listed in the console administration user section.
I'm trying to set permissions because after the update I received several reports from employees that receive errors when they try to access their projects. Those errors are:
TF40049: You do not have licensing rights to access this feature: Code.
*** Edit: Update
This error reoccurred when I upgraded from 2019 to 2020 RC1. The difference is, this upgrade required a migration of the server- since server requirements changed for the new version of DevOps Server.
I spent 8 hrs working through this issue yesterday, and this is what fixed our problem:
deleted DevOps server cache. (location of cache listed in devops admin console on server)
reboot server.
I deleted the cache off the server based on an article I read with the same error, a user was having security/permissions issues with visual studio and they deleted the vs cache on their local machine and it solved their problem. I don't know if deleting the cache or the reboot would have fixed it independently because I did them both as a single troubleshooting step.
Hope this helps someone.
** Edit: Update 08/13/20 **
After upgrading again, I have ran into the same issue and this does not fix my error anymore. I've tried deleting the server cache, rebooting, reapplying permissions, configuring a new service account, reapplying changes, rebooting again, etc. I still have not found a solution for this error. I cannot schedule backups through the supplied backup scheduler without permissions to manage security settings through the configuration panel.
Origin machine: TFS 2017 update 3 & SQL Server 2014
Destination machine: TFS 2018 update 2 & SQL Server 2017
Steps followed for a Dry-Run:
Followed the "Move or Clone Team Foundation Server from one hardware to another" and "Do a dry run of your upgrade". All databases are successfully restored on the same server (TFS_configuration, Tfs_collections, Tfs_Warehouse, ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB, Tfs_Analysis).
ChangeServerId and RemapDBs executed successfully.
When running the wizard to use the "Pre-production Upgrade Testing" we noticed the following:
When using "< nameofserver >\SSRS" (this is the default instance name for Reporting Services in SQL Server 2017) on "Reporting Services Instance" and the correct URLs are selected, these errors appear on the Readiness Checks:
It appears that the following best practices for this scenario have
not been implemented: VS403144: The warehouse database is currently pointing to the same database that was being used on your production deployment.
VS403140: The specified Analysis Services database is the same one being used in your production deployment.
When using "< nameofserver >" (this has been used in the past successfully with tfs2017) on "Reporting Services Instance" the following message pops up:
TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found: MSSQLSERVER. The server name is: "< nameoftheserver >"
Is the change of the instance name from "MSSQLSERVER" to "SSRS" causing this issue?
Thank you
This is most likely because you don't need to use ChangeServerID and ReMapDBs with the
Pre-production Upgrade Testing scenario. That scenario does those operations for you.
I'd reset the test instance, restore the databases, and try again without running changeserverID/remapDBs.
When doing Application Tier only installation on TFS, I received the following error at the Configure section of the Application Tier Only Wizard.
TF255356: The following error occurred when configuring the Team Foundation databases: TF246083: The configuration of Team Foundation Server is not valid. You must remap the databases in order to fix the configuration. The following error was received from the server: TF400673: Unable to find any compatible SQL Analysis Services database within the specified instance.
'2' hosts have been given updated connection strings.
.. For more information, see the configuration log.
How do I resolve this error?

This problem usually occurs when Move or Clone Team Foundation Server from one hardware to another.
Based on the error message, seems you have not restored the TFS_Analysis database or somthing wrong with the restored TFS_Analysis database.
So, you can try to restore the TFS_Analysis database, then check it again. If the issue still exists there, then you can refer to below thread and following the steps to fix that:
TFS Configuration
Cloning Your TFS Server Part 02 – Prepare Restored Databases
UPDATE:
You have to restore the TFS_Analysis database first, you can not configure the AT without the DB. Alternatively you can do a complete new installation and create a new TFS deployment. See Install TFS on a single server for details.
When I create new project in Xcode 5, Am trying to add new server for source control. But am getting error alert like this "The Xcode service is disabled on this server. Please contact your administrator for help".
Please check out how to turn on the OSX Server Xcode service at the following link:
https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/IDEs/Conceptual/xcode_guide-continuous_integration/200-Adopting_a_Continuous_Integration_Workflow/adopt_continuous_integration.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40013292-CH3-SW1.
If review of this guide does not fix your issue please let me know more specifics about your environment. If it does help please consider accepting the answer so others will locate the resource.
Important Conceptual Notes:
When you setup a new project and you are offered a server this refers to an OSX Server only (not github or any non-OSX external server):
So basically just make sure the OSX Xcode service is ON or restart your 10.9+ OSX server if possible...
NB: If what you want to do is to push your repository to github.com or code.google.com please see the following links for instructions on getting this to run in Terminal. Once the link between the remote repository and your local directory then Xcode will be able to push updates to your remote repositories (this will be available as a checkbox when you commit your project).

Pushing to Google Code
It sounds like you want to add a repository, not an XCode Continuous Integration server.
Adding a server is adding an XCode Continuous Integration server.
Use add repository instead. See the guide in the first link.
It seems like a "Server" in apple's definition is not a BitBucket server or GitHub server, it has to be a server that you host by yourself. Otherwise you are looking at adding a "repository".
I got enlightened by the screenshot below, note the server address:
We have a solution consisting of several class libraries, and a Web
Application Project. We are using TFS 2012 with Team Build. The solution
compiles correctly on the build server.
I am currently trying to do this via MSBuild Arguments.
/p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish
/p:CreatePackageOnPublish=False /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=RemoteAgent
/p:MsDeployServiceUrl=https://testWebServer:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=direct /p:AllowUntrustedCertificate=True
/p:DeployIisAppPath="direct"
/p:AuthType=NTLM
The solution builds but does not deploy. I get the following error message:
msdeploy error ERROR_DESTINATION_INVALID: Web deployment task failed.
( Could not connect to the remote computer ("https"). Make sure that
the remote computer name is correct and that you are able to connect
to that computer. Learn more at:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=221672#ERROR_DESTINATION_INVALID.)
[C:\Builds\1\ProjectName\Solution General Build\Sources\Temp
Source\ProjectName\Solution\Project.csproj]
Is there another argument I should be passing to specify the server? I did
not intend for https to be the server name... I have tried omitting the
https:// to no avail, error is the same, so it is getting the value from
somewhere.
I have tried this with the following values for MsDeployServiceUrl:
https://testWebServer:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=direct
https://testWebServer:8172/MsDeploy.axd
https://192.168.X.X:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=direct
"https://192.168.X.X:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=direct"
testWebServer:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=direct
Update
Alright, the following is at least connecting:
/p:MsDeployServiceUrl=testWebServer
I have seen numerous posts concerning that particular argument, and almost invariably they are a URL, not just a hostname (the ones that appear to be a hostname I thought were just written that way for brevity).
I am now, however, faced with a new problem. I have made the Build Service Account (domain account) local admin on the webserver, and I am getting msdeploy error ERROR_USER_NOT_ADMIN as well as an Audit failure in the Security log.
Resolution
These are the MSBuild arguments I am currently going with.
/p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=False /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=WMSvc /p:MsDeployServiceUrl="https://SERVER:8172/MsDeploy.axd" /p:AllowUntrustedCertificate=True /p:DeployIisAppPath="siteName"
I am now getting ERROR_USER_UNAUTHORIZED. Apparently I have either not set up the delegation correctly or the IIS Manager User I have created is somehow incorrect. Regardless that will go in a different post if necessary.
What is the Server and IIS version, you are using?
IIS 6 uses Web Deployment Agent Service (MsDepSvc), whereas IIS 7 usually uses Web Management Service (WMSvc) which have different URLs (besides, you have to be an admin on the target server to execute MsDepSvc.
Can you try specifying
/P:MSDeployPublishMethod=WMSvc
Based on this article from Troy Hunt, Web Management Service (WMSvc) is using
.axd
URLs (the one you specify), whereas you are trying to force it use RemoteAgent publish method which seems to be inconsistent.
See this article for complete set of differencies between WMSvc and RemoteAgent publish methods.
I had a similar issue. To resolve the issue I tried the following steps:
As it was a hosted server we had to make sure that the port 8172 was open (obviously).
Creating a new login and set this up in IIS -> Deploy -> Configure -> Configure Web Deploy Publishing on the target server. I made sure that the password didn't have any spaces in to avoid the quotes issue just to be sure.
Actually running a manual deployment from the build server.
Finally specifying an IP address in the MSDeployServicerl:
/p:MsDeployServiceUrl=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8172/msdeploy.axd
None of the web site names worked for me either. None of my parameters had quotes in. Of course if you leave a space in incorrectly in one of your parameters you will get the error:
MSBUILD : error MSB1008: Only one project can be specified
