Swift 3 App has black frame on Ipad 3 [duplicate] - ios

I am testing a new (simple) reactive native app, choosing ipad 2 as target in the simulator.
The loading screen shows full screen, but the first application screen (by react native) shows a big black border around the content. I created a completely new project, but it has the same border.
Is this a known issue? Do I need to add something to prevent this border from happening?
EDIT: I have an impression the application is built as an iphone app, but deployed/displayed to an ipad. I see the 1x / 2x button. Probably this is causing it. So probably the first question is: how do I configure xcode that it is actually an ipad app?
Thanks in advance!
Jeroen

Go to Build Settings
Type Targeted Device Family in search bar
Select 1,2
Run the project it should resolve your issue.

The application was being built as an iphone app, but deployed/displayed to an ipad. I see the 1x / 2x button. This was causing it. So: how do I configure xcode that it is actually an ipad app? See url below:
How to change iPhone/iPad app to iPhone only?

Now with newer version of XCode. Build Settings -> Targeted Device Family -> Select Universal.

I had this issues and solved it with this way,
Go to XCode, and General tab
In App Icons and Launch Image sections,
2.1. Click the dropdown Launch Image Source, and a pop up
will come out, click Migrate
2.2. Click the dropdown Launch Screen File, and select the very first one
Go to Build Settings Type Targeted Device Family in search bar Select 1,2
I had this issues after updating assets for AppIcons and SplashScreen
Hope it helps!

iPhone full height isn't being used

I inherited an iOS app and I've found that the full height isn't being used. Here's a pic on the iPhone 6:
Seems like it's stuck on an iPhone 4 resolution.
iOS deployment target: 7.1
Any ideas how to make the height fit to full screen for the entire app? Thank you!
The default launch screen is not utilizing the full size of the phone. You may need to create a launch screen first.
To create the launch screen go to File and then New File. Under the
User Interface tab select Launch Screen and save it.
From here, in your project file, select Targets and then Deployment
Info. Under app icons and images, change the Launch Main Screen to
main.
This should fix your issue!
To resolve the issue, follow the below steps:
Navigate to project settings
Under "App Icons and Launch Images" click on "Use Asset Catalog"
Select "Migrate" on the popup that appears.
This should fix the issue.

xcode only running 3.5 inch screen [duplicate]

We have an iPod app built with base SDK as 5.1.
App has a tabBarController with three tabs and each tab has a UIViewController to load a different view.
The app works fine for iOS 6.1 and iOS 7 (3.5 inch display) simulator and device but when we run the app on
iOS 7 (4 inch display simulator) or device we are getting black bars at the top and bottom of the view screen in all three tabs.
If anyone can suggest reason for this or some feasible solution to this problem, it would be really helpful for us.
Thanks
First thing is that you must add the required default image for 4 inch screen display. Check Properly in you project have image with name Default-568h#2x.png (640 × 1136 pixels)
This Default-568h#2x.png is Necessary for Support app in 4 inch Screen display
Ones you add this image in to you working Project, Remove old Build from device or Simulatore, clear Project and re build and check Hope you issue will solve.
Edit:-
After fix the black Bar issue you can check the device like my answer Give here check this:-
Detect device type
you have two choice if you can't use AutoLayout
First
Create two xib with same class one for 3.5 inch screen and one for 4 inch screen set using macro with checking which screen appear.
Second
Set Self.view frame using macro with checking which screen appear.
There are also other methods you can use for set self.view frame as using window frame or UIScreen
My problem was I accidentally deleted the value found here:
I added back LaunchScreen, and made sure there was a LaunchScreen.xib. Maybe it will help some others.
Ive had the same problem - black bars at the top and bottom. It was simply solved by setting the drop down in "App Icons and Launch Images" to Main_iPhone:
App Icons and Launch Images Screen Shot
I was facing same problem . I just added launch image and it worked for me.
XCode->Click on Project File -> Select Target-> App Icons and Launch Images -> Add launch image source
This worked!
Pay attention to Step#5 and Step#6 below:
1.In xcode, Click on the Project file in Project Navigator
2.Click General tab
3.Type "Main_iPhone" in the Launch Screen File field
4.Save
5.Remove the app from device or simulator
6.Then in Xcode go to Product Menu and then select Clean
7.Build again

IOS 7 Black bars at the top and bottom (running 3.5 only)

I seem to have some across and interesting issue that I can not resolve. I have a app written in XCode 5 running ios 7.1.
The app was working perfectly until I moved the folder location of the project. When I ran up the app on my phone the app worked perfectly but now I no longer get a app icon, launch image and the whole thing seems to only run in 3.5" mode as well, even on my phone (5S). I get black bars at the top and bottom.
I have renamed the folder that the project now sits under back to the original name but this issue has not gone away.
I was wondering if anybody else has ever come across this??
Cheers
Geraint
It seems your pbxproject got a bit messed up (maybe you had absolute paths used ? )
Select your target in Xcode.
Under general, App Icons , re-assign the launch images.
The clean and rebuild your project.
Check this link out as well :
Black bars showing when running app on iOS 7 (4 inch retina display)
I was able to resolve the issue manually, seems like it is a bug with Xcode for now and I will file a radar report.
To resolve the issue, follow the below steps:
Navigate to project settings
Under "App Icons and Launch Images" click on "Use Asset Catalog"
Select "Migrate" on the popup that appears.
This should fix the issue.

App Icon not shown on iPad

I am developing iPhone app. When i run the app on iPhone i can see the the icon on Home screen. But when i run the same app on iPad whitish icon appears which normally appears when the app has no icon.
I have tested my other iPhone apps they are working fine but this is causing trouble. I used Asset Catalogs to display app icons and they are perfectly adjusting in it. What could be the problem here any suggestions?
I also initially started with developing the app for iPhone and then needed to add iPad icons and here where I found them:
1) go to Assets
2) find appIcon (usually on top)
3) go to attributes inspector
4) choose iPad ios swift version
5) iPad iCons holders will appear you will need to fill them
xCode 5 was not showing anything related to iPad for an iPhone only app. So when i migrated my images to Assets Catalogs and clicked on app icon in the Attribute Inspector i was given the options like i want to give icons for iPad. So i provided and problem solved :)
for Universal application iPad Icon file size is 72x72 and named Icon-72 and for Retina its 114x114 with Icon-72#2x.png. Try to include this files into your resource bundle and then build your app
In project settings there are fields for App Icons please refer to the attachment
go to general , then app icon source , then click the appicon
by default , you can't see the place for ipad
3 . left click and create a new image set
then you can see all icon size , add the #76 #152 for ipad
In my case i do have set images for iPad in my assets but even then it was not showing. I have to check Target Membership check box. I had imported AppIcons folder and this got uncheck.
In project settings there are fields for both, iPad and iPhone icons. You may want to provide different icons for different devices, so try providing your icon for both, iPad and iPhone. Even though it will be the same image.
Hope the stackoverflow link will help How do you update the app icons and launch images to support IOS 6 and 7 simultaneously?
As answered by Andy Bean, try using Asset Catalog.
