Highcharts: Pie Charts Labels Position - highcharts

See the following example:
http://jsfiddle.net/klodoma/2xgkzyh4/
Is there any setting to place the labels more properly without adjusting them independently?
Firefox should be more up, Others should be more up and right...
Code:
$(function () {
$('#container').highcharts({
title: {
text: 'Browser market shares at a specific website, 2014'
},
plotOptions: {
pie: {
dataLabels: {
connectorWidth: 12,
style : {
fontSize: 25
}
}
}
},
series: [{
type: 'pie',
name: 'Browser share',
data: [
['Firefox', 45.0],
['IE', 26.8],
['Safari', 8.5],
['Opera', 6.2],
['Others', 0.7]
]
}]
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.highcharts.com/highcharts.js"></script>
<div id="container" style="height: 300px"></div>

I've always found label positioning for pie (as well as polar and spider) charts difficult to manage. Depending on your data and your desired format, they can be very fussy and unruly to position as you'd prefer.
I'd suggest removing the labels altogether and go with a legend instead. I've updated your code snippet with this concept.
Please let me know if this is helpful for you!
$(function () {
$('#container').highcharts({
title: {
text: 'Browser market shares at a specific website, 2014'
},
legend: {
enabled: true,
borderWidth: 1,
borderColor: 'gray',
align: 'center',
verticalAlign: 'top',
layout: 'horizontal',
x: 0, y: 50
},
plotOptions: {
pie: {
allowPointSelect: true,
cursor: 'pointer',
dataLabels: { enabled: false },
showInLegend: true
}
},
series: [{
type: 'pie',
name: 'Browser share',
data: [
['Firefox', 45.0],
['IE', 26.8],
['Safari', 8.5],
['Opera', 6.2],
['Others', 0.7]
]
}]
});
});

Highcharts - add custom information to tooltip what caused price raise or price drop

I am working a chart and need to add information to the tooltip pop-up box to each point marker. For example, I have a chart with Y: price X: date.
If the price of a product rises because of some event (for example an earthquake), I would like to show that information when someone points their mouse to that specific chart point. Is this possible in wpdatatables or highcharts?
I am a webdesigner looking for some coding help. Thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards,
Kevin

You can add some additional property to your data, map it by keys option and finally show it in a tooltip by customizing pointFormat:
series: [{
keys: ['x', 'y', 'event'],
data: [
[1, 2, 'event1'],
[2, 3, 'event2'],
[3, 4]
]
}],
tooltip: {
pointFormat: '<span style="color:{point.color}">\u25CF</span> {series.name}: <b>{point.y}</b> {point.event} <br/>'
}

How can add borderColor and borderWidth to Column type - highchart?

I have tried to add border for selected series. Please adivise

How to get rid of the line labels in highcharts?

I am using highcharts to create a graph. I am able to display the output but I am unable to remove the label . I am not able to figure out how to get rid of the label.
//document.getElementById('container').style.visibility='visible';
Highcharts.chart('container', {
chart: {
type: 'area'
},
title: {
text: 'Stock Price',
},
subtitle: {
text: '<a style=\"color:blue;\" href=\"https://www.alphavantage.co\">Source: Alpha Vantage</a>'
},
xAxis: {
type: 'datetime',
showLastLabel: true,
endOnTick: true,
categories: [ "05/30", "05/31", "06/01", "06/02", "06/05", "06/06", "06/07", "06/08"],
labels:{
step:2},
},
yAxis: [{
title: {
text: 'Stock Price'
},
labels: {
enabled: false
},
},{
title: {
text: 'Volume ',
},
labels: {
format: '{value}m',
enabled: false,
},
opposite:true,
}],
plotOptions: {
labels: {
enabled: false,
},
line: {
enableMouseTracking: false
},
series: {
marker: {
enabled: false
},}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'middle'
},
series: [{

name: 'Tokyo',
type: 'area',
color: '#F66464',
data: [4,5,6,7,8,9,1],
}, {

color: '#FFFFFF',
yAxis: 1,
data: [1,2,3],
}]
});

I tried disabling the label but it doesn't seem to work.
I want to get rid of the labels ("Tokyo" written in white) in the following output.
You were so close. The label can be removed by including this:
label: {
enabled: false,
},
in your series, or in the plotOptions if you want to remove all labels.
You typed labels with an s, which is unfortunately not correct.
API on series label: https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/plotOptions.series.label
https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/series.line.label
Go through this docs.
You need to make series.lable.enabled = false;

Highcharts Bar Chart Zoom not working

If you use a bar chart in Highcharts, the zoom does not seem to work properly.
You can select the area and also the button "Reset zoom" appears. The chart, however, is not zoomed in.
The only code I added to the basic bar example was the zoom type:
chart: {
type: 'bar',
zoomType: 'x'
},
Complete example: http://jsfiddle.net/966off9e/
Is this a bug or a feature? ;-)
I think this is somehow a bug in Highcharts, when you use categorized axis. But a workaround would be using a min for that axis:
xAxis: {
categories: ['Africa', 'America', 'Asia', 'Europe', 'Oceania'],
title: {
text: null
},
min: 0
}
Here's the DEMO
Just add 'minRange' to the xAxis: http://jsfiddle.net/mushigh/axy8v9oa/
<script src="http://code.highcharts.com/highcharts.js"></script>
<script src="http://code.highcharts.com/modules/exporting.js"></script>
<div id="container" style="min-width: 310px; max-width: 800px; height: 400px; margin: 0 auto"></div>
$(function () {
$('#container').highcharts({
chart: {
type: 'bar',
zoomType: 'x'
},
title: {
text: 'Historic World Population by Region'
},
subtitle: {
text: 'Source: Wikipedia.org'
},
xAxis: {
categories: ['Africa', 'America', 'Asia', 'Europe', 'Oceania'],
title: {
text: null
},
minRange: 1,
},
yAxis: {
title: {
text: 'Population (millions)',
align: 'high'
},
labels: {
overflow: 'justify'
}
},
tooltip: {
valueSuffix: ' millions'
},
plotOptions: {
bar: {
dataLabels: {
enabled: true
}
}
},
legend: {
layout: 'vertical',
align: 'right',
verticalAlign: 'top',
x: -40,
y: 100,
floating: true,
borderWidth: 1,
backgroundColor: ((Highcharts.theme && Highcharts.theme.legendBackgroundColor) || '#FFFFFF'),
shadow: true
},
credits: {
enabled: false
},
series: [{
name: 'Year 1800',
data: [107, 31, 635, 203, 2]
}, {
name: 'Year 1900',
data: [133, 156, 947, 408, 6]
}, {
name: 'Year 2008',
data: [973, 914, 4054, 732, 34]
}]
});
});
Another possibility is that the amount of data is bigger than the cropThreshold variable. See this related post.
You can also see the official docs for this variable. Every kind of graphic has this variable with different default values. You should check it out to be sure.

Highcharts: overlay label on a graph

I'd like to overlay a custom layer over a chart (e.g. a comment, author). Reading the API there seems to be already an object for the purpose:
A HTML label that can be positioined anywhere in the chart area.
I tried using this on one of the example charts but it has no effect (see below), although the interpreter isn't issuing any error. Am I doing something wrong or should a lable of this kind be created some other way?
Thank you.
chart = new Highcharts.Chart({
chart: {
renderTo: 'pie-container',
plotBackgroundColor: null,
plotBorderWidth: null,
plotShadow: false
},
title: {
text: 'Browser market shares at a specific website, 2010'
},
tooltip: {
pointFormat: '{series.name}: <b>{point.percentage}%',
percentageDecimals: 1
},
plotOptions: {
pie: {
allowPointSelect: true,
cursor: 'pointer',
dataLabels: {
enabled: true,
color: '#FFFFFF',
connectorColor: '#FFFFFF',
formatter: function() {
return '<b>'+ this.point.name +'</b>: '+ this.percentage +' %';
}
}
}
},
series: [{
type: 'pie',
name: 'Browser share',
data: [
['Firefox', 45.0],
['IE', 26.8],
{
name: 'Chrome',
y: 12.8,
sliced: true,
selected: true
},
['Safari', 8.5],
['Opera', 6.2],
['Others', 0.7]
]
}],
labels: [
{html: "<b>This is a label!</b>",
style: {
left: '100px',
top: '100px',
width: '50px'}}],
});
});
});
labels should be an object.
Then you have to add each label as an element of items.
labels: {
items: [{
html: "<b>This is a label!</b>",
style: {
left: '100px',
top: '100px',
width: '50px'
}
}]
}
