get separate access token for a particular user in wso2 IS - oauth-2.0

I have created Service Provider and wso2 IS successfully integrated with LDAP, tested API and able to generate access token for user.
The wso2 IS generates same access token every time for a single user, even if i hit /oauth2/token api multiple times, Is it possible in wso2 IS to
generate separate access token for same user everytime i call /oauth2/token
wso2 IS able to handle this type of token management

WSO2 IS generates a unique access token for the combination of
1. OAuth2.0 client ID (client/application)
2. Authorized user (resource owner)
3. Approved scopes (for the unique set)
If a valid access token already exists for the above combination in ACTIVE state that token will be returned. If you need a new token one of the above parameters MUST change.

How to authenticate mobile app to web service using Azure AD?

Currently I have this setup:
At login, and in every subsequent request after login, a mobile application that I have built uses Basic Authentication to authenticate the user with a web service that serves the app with information it requests.
On every request the Authorization header is inspected, the password and username are extracted from the header, the password is hashed using a proprietary DLL (so the web service doesn't actually contain the hashing algorithm) and compared to the hashed password associated with the username that is stored in the database.
I have now been asked to include Azure AD SSO in the login options.
After reading much about the topic, this looks seems to me like the setup:
I'm curious about a few things:
Is this setup correct, more or less?
Does the app send the Identity Token to the web service? If so, how does the webservice validate that token?
Is it correct that the webservice can match the Azure Identity to the DB user using one of the claims in the Security Token?
Where do Access Token fit in this picture?

(Side Note: I know that Basic Authentication is not the preferred way to go in the first scenario. This was a temporary decision till we developed the token handling code, it only works using HTTPS and this is an internal application - you wouldn't be able to activate the app unless you have a code we give you)
I have little experience in azure ad but I think we could talk about your case.
First, whatever id token and access token are both jwt token, so to your web service application, you need to use jwt decode library to decrypt the token and get claims it contains. Here we need to know the difference between id token and access token, and I think you'll know that for your web service application, if it's more likely to play the role of an api application, you need to use access token because this token also contains user information. Then you need to add code in your program to decode the token and check if it's a 'valid' token for the request.(Because you've used azure ad to achieve the login part, you don't need to use your custom login part.)
Next, the signing in feature provided by azure ad requires to use account and password in the tenant which azure ad belongs to, the user accounts may look like xx#xx.onmicrosoft.com, it doesn't required to keep sycn with the accounts in your database, so it's difficult and needless for you to compare the user name obtained from the decoded token with those in your database. Because when your web service received the token(id or access token), that means someone has passed the authentication from azure ad. The token contains user information including role, expired time etc. You need to check if the token has expired and if has the correct scope. (Let's see a common situation, microsoft provides many graph apis to call, when accessing these api, we need to provide access token in request head with matching scope, e.g. https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me
requires a delegated api permission of User.Read)
To sum up here, if your web service just required the users in your database to sign in then can be access, id token and access token are both suitable for you because they both contains user name like 'xx#xx.onmicrosoft.com', what you need to do is decode the token and check if the token has expired and whether this user exists in your database(you may set up a mapping between them).

How should I use the id token returned to me by Google after a successful code exchange?

I am not clear on what exactly I should do with the id token from Google after the initial verification.
I'm developing on expo/react native and get the id token locally. Then, I send it to my server and verify it using google client libraries. Once it's verified what should I do with it?
Ideally I could use it to protect my api routes (express) but id tokens expire after 1 hour and I'm not sure how to refresh them with the client library. So, I don't know how I would do this.
Is that the intended use for id tokens? Should I instead be signing my own jwt and sending that back to the client? Then, the client could send that in the auth header of each request to a protected routes.

If the user isn't yet in your user database, create a new user record from the information in the ID token payload, and establish a session for the user. Do I use the id token to "establish a session for the user"?
Yes, the ID-token is only used to create the local session, perhaps also create a local entry in your local database if that is used.
The ID token also have a very short lifetime, like 5 minutes in some systems. So it has no long-term use.
The ID token is intended to authenticate the user. It gives you information about the authenticated user, it should not be used to allow access to your endpoints. Access tokens or sessions are intended to do so. So in your case, you should do exactly as your gut feeling tells you - create a session for the user basing on the data you got in the ID token.
If you have your own Authorization Server you can use the ID token to issue an access token and return the token to the frontend app, then use the access token to access your backends. Have a look at OAuth flows if you would want to go this way.

how to find which application (client) id generated a specific access token - microsoft graph

Let's say there are several valid access tokens from microsoft azure, all for a single user but generated using different applications and let's say their scopes are openid.
All tokens are valid, not expired and genuine. What I need is to differentiate them using which application (client) id generated every single one of them.
Is it possible to get this info?
Or at least if I have three application (client) ids and I'll send a request to an endpoint with access token and client id and check if it gives error or not.
Every application has its own Application ID and it will always be unique.
So, you can decrypt the token into JWT format, and you can find appid claim which is nothing but the value of your Application ID.

How are access tokens distinguished between resource providers in OpenID Connect?

I am working on creating an OpenID Connect (OIDC) Provider based around django-oidc-provider. I have been reading up on the OpenID Connect Spec, and I cannot figure out how access tokens are unique for a certain application.
Consider the following example with a user, Bob:
Bob wants to login to application A, so he goes to its interface and is redirected to the OIDC Provider. After authentication he is redirected (implicit flow) back to Application A with an ID token and an access token. He then makes a request at "/image/1" to A's API with his access token. The API uses the access token to reach out to the OIDC Provider to assert the user's identity as Bob. The API then returns the data at "/image/1" for user Bob, assuming that info exists. Bob continues to send his access token to A's API for any subsequent requests.
Then, Bob decides he wants to access application B's API. He sends B's API the same access token that he used with A's API. B's API reaches out to the OIDC Provider with the token and asserts the user's identity as Bob. B's API then returns the requested info for Bob.
What prevents this from happening? I see at least two possible solutions to this:
When reaching out to Google's token validation endpoint the "aud" parameter is returned. Application B's API would have to check this parameter to decide that the token is not valid for it's own API?
An additional scope must be added when requesting the token that is specific to the resource provider say "app-A-api". Then when an API is validating a token, the API would ensure the token contains the needed scope.
Which of these methods, or others, are in line with the OIDC spec?
If one of the above should be used, am I correct in assuming I should add a new /tokeninfo endpoint that returns the scope or aud, rather than add that info to the info returned at the /userinfo endpoint?
Any input is appreciated. I think a lot of my confusion comes from not seeing the "scope" param being used to delegate access to a resource provider in any OIDC examples.
I think the thing you are missing is that the application A and its API are two separate applications. So the tokens are issued for the application A. If the app-A-api uses the access token just for the user authentication, it's better to use an ID token - it can be validated without accessing the OAuth2 server. In this scenario, the app-A-api manages its user permissions by itself.
If the app-A-api needs the token to get a list of scopes (permissions) of its client, then use the access token. But in this scenario, the app-A-api (and app-B-api) are just accepting the access token - they are not the target audience (aud attribute) of the token. The application A is the audience of the tokens.
The APIs just check whether the access token contains scopes relevant for them. They trust the token issuer and it's up to the users to decide whether they trust the application A to perform actions on their behalf.
As an example, if a JavaScript application C (app-C) uses just Google Drive and Google Plus for its actions, then app-C will ask its user for an access token with scopes belonging to Google Drive and Google Plus. It will be just one token and both Google APIs will accept it.
And about the tokeninfo endpoint, it has it's own RFC called OAuth 2.0 Token Introspection, so you can check it.

Get a Unique OAuth token API from the WSO2 Identity Server

Our Mobile Client App uses https://identityserver:port/oauth2/token service from Identity Server by passing the ClientID and ClientSecret with grant_type as “client_credentials” to generate the access token. The generated access token is used to invoke the API from ESB.
As per the implementation the ClientID and ClientSecret will be stored in the device.
For an example, ClientX requested for an Oauth Token which will have a certain expiry time. Can this token make as a unique for ClientX?
Currently all the upcoming client calls will get the same access token as its already generated from the request of ClientX. If a client is requesting a token very late it will get the same token with almost expiry time.
Is there a way to make this token unique for the Client?
In your case, if you use “client_credentials” as a grant type, resource owner is also the client.
Since this is a mobile application, once your mobile app gets the token it will be used until the expiry date and there will not be a necessity of changing it, because of mobile is belongs to a single user. Therefore the token would be same for same scope till it is expired.
Ex: BBC news mobile application.
If you need different access tokens, you need to use different scopes.
You will need different access token in case if different clients accessing the same API. In that case you may use “PASSWORD” grant type for a unique access token.
Ex: Purchasing a product using ebay.
So you should define your scope properly to identify the use of access token.

I will assume that mobile application instance is bound per user.
If you want to get different access tokens for every user bound to a session don't use client_credential grant type.
For example you have client-x and client-y both using client_credentials grant. Identity Server (Authorization Server) will give an access token for client-x and client-y since this is about authorizing client-x and client-y to access resource and not about authorizing a user. This means whatever user you have in client-x or client-y requesting access_token, they can get one (assuming they are authenticated).Vice versa, a user, even if authenticated both client and identity server cannot get an access token if the request comes from client-z (client-z is not registered in identity server)
If your Oauth 2.0 client is browser-based you can use implicit grant, if it is a server you can use either authorization grant or resource owner password credential.
