Other uses of App ID in iOS App - ios

I understand that App ID is used to uniquely identify an iOS app. Am I right?
Apart from this, are there any other user case where the App ID would be referred/used?
E.g: Would App ID be used for say in some part of the push notification work flow, or say in generation of an provisioning profile or in any other process of developing an iOS app or specific iOS functionality?
I was asked this questing during an iOS interview and am curious to know the answer.

custom iOS app availability in public app store

I've an iOS app.
But I've several issues with my "Ready for Sale" app.
My app is distributed as custom app.
But users are unable to install the app with a "redemption code".
I tried to explain to them but very few have got it.
Others were getting discouraged with my custom app implementation. They're asking why it's not available in app store.
So I need to make available my app in app store. So that all user can download the app from the app store like any other app.
How can I make my custom app available in app store for download.
Distributing an app in the AppStore, is fairly simple but there are some conditions:
You have to be a a registered Apple Developer, which means you have to pay the USD 100 fee, you can join here
Your app must follow App Store guidelines: read them here
Since any apple user can download your app, you must find a way to allow only your users to use the app it, it could be a user/password or any way your find appropriate
Once an app has been marked for distribution as a custom app it cannot be made available as a general App Store app.
You can take your existing source code and change the bundle id, effectively making it a new app. You can then set up a new app record in App Store Connect for this new bundle id and submit it for review by Apple.
You should be aware that if the app targets a specific or limited audience then it may not be approved for the App Store.

How to pass the Appstore review for the app like Uber?

My company made an app like Grab, Uber: Allow user books a bike/car.
But the problem is: Currently the iOS app for User is ready to publish, but the iOS app for Driver is under development. We want to publish the app for User first, and the app for Driver will be published later. We also have the User app and Driver app for Android, and both for Android is ready to publish.
So, I have a question:
If I submit User app to Appstore, would Apple reject the app? If yes, are there any ways to pass the review?
Thank you so much.

Does testflight change App ID?

I have an app, which uses Apple Universal Links feature. So, this app should be opened, when user clicks on my web site link. But, somehow, this happens. One of the reasons is wrong App ID. Can test flight change it somehow?
UPD: The Apple App ID is a two part string used to identify one or more apps. Specifically, the Apple app ID is your team ID and bundle ID joined with a period, for example: 1A234H7ABC.com.yourdomain.YourApp.
No, the app ID should not change. The bundle ID should never change and neither should the team ID. You should check your device logs when installing the app to see if the AASA file is getting downloaded. This could be an iOS 11.2 issue in which you'll have to delete the app and re-download it.

Testing Facebook iOS requests before publishing in App Store?

I'm able to successfully send requests through the Facebook iOS SDK, however the notifications do not appear in the user's iOS app. Based on other answers on here, I've determined this is because I do not have a iPhone Store ID configured in my FB developer settings. However, my iPhone Store ID won't work because I haven't published the app yet...so how does one test Facebook iOS requests before publishing their app?
It seems the only solution is to use the app ID of an already published app for testing, and then change to the actual app ID when you publish your app. If you don't have access to a published app ID, I found this solution for finding one: Get iTunes App Store ID of an app itself?

Share Facebook App ID across multiple apps

I have a Facebook app ID which I'm using on 6 iOS apps for sharing posts on the user's timeline using Single Sign-on (SSO).
I have setup the custom URL Scheme suffix described here and it's working fine right now.
My question is regarding the "iPhone App Store ID" and "iPad App Store ID" fields listed on the Facebook app settings. From what I understood here, these IDs would only be used if the user started an action on the Facebook app that would required my app to be installed. It would then be redirected to the AppStore ID listed on those fields.
My question is: is this really what these fields are for? I'd rather not forward the user anywhere (leave this blank?) but it's not allowed. Maybe I should just fill it with my app's free version AppStore IDs?
If you fill in those values, users who have your Facebook app installed will see the icon for your iOS app appear in the applications sidebar within the native iOS Facebook app on their iPhone.
Tapping that icon will then either launch your native app (if it's installed) or take them to the App Store page for that app so they can install it.
If you are using your Facebook app with multiple iOS apps, then you'll either have to pick one of your native apps to be the native app that represents your Facebook app, or just leave the fields blank.
There is no way to associate multiple native apps with a single Facebook app AFAIK.
